    I think your under carriage storage idea is clever, but I'd be concerned about diminished clearance. I looked around and found a low profile 62 gallon rv black tank from Rec Pro-Restore Your RV. It measures 60L x 36W x 8 3/8 D. The axle will actually be quite a bit lower than the tank. My buddy and I are planning/fabricating a system to (very) secure the tank and feed the original black and gray tanks into this one. If it's too complicated I may just use a macerator pump to move waste/water from the original tanks to the added tank. However it works out, even though there's good clearance, the leading edge will be protected by galvanized sheet metal. I'll then have the original 30 gallon fresh water, supplemented with a 60 gallon fresh water bladder (bed of pick up), and the original two 30 gallon gray and black tanks. If all works out, I'll have a total of 90 gallons fresh and 120 gallon gray/black capacity. Thx, your clever idea was a great inspiration.

    This isn't an apples to apples test. Products like happy campers aren't advertised as a cleaner, it's advertised for odor control. Expecting it to do something it never claimed is pointless. What I don't know is the ability of the other products to control odor but we've had pretty good luck with happy campers. I have used Unique to help clean the tank but if I remember right it's fairly pricey to use as a regular treatment.

    Thanks for the info I knew nothing about breakdown have been using happy camper because I got it on clearance. Anyone who says you should use human waste put out your own video. It's true its a holding tank not a seprtic but you still require a certain amount of breakdown or you will clog your pipes. There is no septic feild on your tanks so there is nowhere for the clean waste to go so yes it will fill up but if it breaks down more before you empty it will go out quicker and more will come out.

    Saw a guy leave his water running in his camper and leave for the day. It proceeded to fill his tanks then flood his camper before it could be shut off. Then he got back and just opened his grey tank valve right there on the site which happenes to be uphill from another site. People are animals.

    Not a fan of Banfield. It’s your typical big box store mentality profit before pets or people. VCA is an alternative to Banfield in the regard of records. I guess I am fortunate enough that my wife as a former vet tech can identify problems herself and our vet who she used to work with is willing to walk through things via phone with her. If they do need to see a vet on the road there are a number of emergency clinics we can take them. But we also don't full time and never really needed any services on the road. So if we are planning vet visits on the road the emergency clinic is the best option.

    Excellent demonstration. It reassured me that I'm doing the correct thing. I use Digest-It and Liquified when I camp for 4 or more days. I use the Geo method when traveling. I don't think the Geo method is meant to dissolve anything, I think it just keeps stuff from sticking to the tank walls and emptying easier and more thoroughly.

    Also you need to know that there is a legal limit you can tow before you need a different license. He stated his truck has a 11,000 towing capacity well the law says any driver towing trailer over 10,500 needs a CDL. So now if you have a trailer with a gvwr of 11,000 you are not legal to tow it with out a cdl loaded or not.

    I was trained in fire systems and safety as a maintenance person. Part of our dry chemical fire extinguisher checks had to include turning the unit upside down and tapping on the bottom with a piece of wood, etc, then shake vigorously a few times to loosen the material It will settle and clump, and then it won't function properly. If you attempt to use one and only propellant gas and no or little chemical comes out pound it against the ground, etc. Dry chem extinguishers are junk the first time you squeeze the trigger no matter how much you spray because the grains keep the valve from resealing, and they will invariably leak down. CO2 and probably the water-based spray cans usually do not. However, any fire extinguisher should be replaced/refilled if used at all. You can use the remainder for training before it leaks down. CO2 is the cheapest to refill, will infiltrate areas hard to reach with other types, kill grease fires, do not clump or degrade, are non conductive, leave no mess, and can be used to kill a runaway Diesel if sprayed into the intake. However, they aren't the best solution or are recommended for all fires. They scatter debris and do not coat against re-ignition. Check with recommendations. Many fire departments have extinguisher training days for free. They use the expired ones people have turned in. Good idea!

    Great video. Also to stop the poo pile I highly recommend the Rhino Blaster Pro….at least for the final dump before leaving the site…and add 4 gallons of water and a de-odorizing tab to the black tank. Love the quick connect idea for water especially going to a metal connector rather than the plastic one. Idea idea…security cameras and how to connect to your phone while gone for the day(s). Also would like to know if anyone uses Starlink and a Roku and how it works???

    14:04 Nothing is common sense for me. 2 days ago I took possession of my first travel trailer and I know nothing about RV life. But videos like yours are allowing me to learn rapidly. My only advantage is I've been a truck driver for all my life pulling 48' and 53' trailers. So it's trivially easy for me to back in my new RV into some pretty tight spots without the need for a spotter or cameras. I hope RUclips recommends more of your videos to me.

    Great that you are talking about payload capacity. I constantly see trucks; that I know have a low payload capacity, towing a 35-41' 5th wheel. For example, at my last campground one of my neighbors had an F250. I looked at the sticker on the door frame. Payload was 1960lbs. I was shocked at the low weight. My neighbor was towing a 41' 5th wheel. I looked up the unloaded hitch/pin weight of his 5th wheel. 2300lbs. I looked in his under storage pass thru bay. It was full. No telling what was inside the 5th wheel. He said he didn't have a problem towing. My 2024 RAM 2500 has a payload capacity of 2119lbs. Myself, my wife, my 98lb dog, and a full load of diesel weighs 638lbs. I have to be very careful how I load my truck and my 5th wheel. My truck is rated to TOW 20,000 lbs. Ya, I can get a 4-wheel cart, put 20,000lbs of rocks on it, hook a rope from the cart to my bumper, and I can tow the cart just fine. But towing capacity is not the problem. It's the payload capacity that I don't believe RVers, or dealers consider when purchasing a TT or 5th wheel.

    • @kingrider75
      @kingrider75 4 дня назад

      Man I can’t imagine why somebody would by a heavy duty truck with payloads like that. My 18 model 250 has a 3300 pound payload. Yes I had to loo for the right truck but the F150 I traded in had 1800 pounds!

    • @danalakeman5354
      @danalakeman5354 4 дня назад

      @@kingrider75 My neighbor, and people at other campgrounds with whom I've spoken are totally unaware of payload capacities, as was I. My neighbor had an F250 Platinum model with airbags. I have a 2024 RAM 2500 Laramie Night Edition with almost every option. Sticker is $96,400. I'm thinking the heavily optioned models account for extra weight and therefore lower payload capacity. I was shocked when I saw my neighbor's F250's payload of 1960lbs because I remember looking at other F250 payloads, and they were in the 3000lb range like yours. Unfortunately, I jumped at $15,800 off sticker price when I purchased my RAM 2500 last December, plus KBB price for my trade. I didn't think about payload. I'm extremely happy with my truck and the deal I got. I now have to adapt to the low payload.

    Manufacture payload and towing ratings are exceeded every day. Commercial operators exceed these numbers by 10 times in some occasions. I am not saying that you should exceed these numbers but it is not like your vehicle will explode if you do. If you have experience and knowledge about what you are doing it will go along way to keeping you safe.

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar 4 дня назад

      Just because they are, doesn't mean they should be. And I'd say most RVers DON'T have the experience or knowledge - they don't even know they're breaking the stated limits...

    Exactly!!! All these videos and shorts of campers and companies boasting wow look at all this storage outside. Go inside rig and omg look at all these cabinets and the amount of storage........Cargo capacity 1500 lbs. Lol Adding new axles or an additional one does not fix it. Add all the axles you want but it does no good if the structure cannot handle it.

My RAM2500's payload is 2119lbs. I'll be way over my truck's payload when I add 638lbs of me, wife, dog, and full load of diesel.
