A countersink bit and and some flathead screws on that hinge would be a better long term solution for your steps hitting.
Based on how thin the metal is and therefore, would be, if it was drilled out more I'm going to say thats a "different" option but not necessarily "better." However, since this is 1 of 5 hinges now on the door, I don't think 1/3 attachment points on that 1/5 hinges is going to make any difference one way or the other.
@@rvgearandfar I agree with you completely. It wouldn't strengthen the connection point, but it would satisfy anyone's OCD and close up those holes from dust/rain. :) Cheers mate!
@@rvgearandfar Also, "better" was only to imply the finished look, not safer or stronger. Brevity has its limits, and I obviously found them again.
Tried this solution. Had compatible door. However, it didn't work and actually did damage to the door frame!
Damage in what way? I’m interested to know more
