    Hi Guys, are you still using your Tepui? I just got mine and I really appreciate this video showing how to open and close the tent. The rods that hold up the flaps around the windows. Did you know that right at the entrance of the tent and the edge of the mattress there is a zipper that you can open and that is where you can store those rods. You probably already know that, buy I thought I would tell you anyway.

    we usually measure deck height in thousands of an inch. .060 is a good deck height. that would have given you 8.1 to 1 with a performance cam that would be perfect. Stock cam lower. performance cam higher. More air and fuel likes more compression. if you want to make it run a bit better and you went for 7.5 bump the timing up to 32 or even 34 and see if it pings. if not you might like that better (total advance at about 2500rpm.) if it does ping back it off until it doesnt. I dont recall what cam you put in there. But your Gas MPG wont be very good with a cam and that low of compression.

    • @onehappykombi
      @onehappykombi 8 месяцев назад

      I used a “camper special” cam from Steve Long. I think it’s supposed to be similar to the CB cheater cam. I’ll keep an eye on the mpg and bump up the comp ratio if needed Thank you!

  • @Mikefngarage
    @Mikefngarage 8 месяцев назад

    yea that align bore was not machined fully. You might be able to just carefully file that edge down and it might work ok. That was a good eye on seeing that and not running that case. We had a align bore machine go bad and had 5 engines come back in the late 80s over a couple thousands. almost ran us out of business. and the center bearings all went in just fine. My guess is that the engine would not have run that long before it seized.

    • @onehappykombi

    yea the performance cams usually have too tight a tolerance on the cam bearings. So you can push them in the case and rotate the cam should have a few thousands of play. I dont remember the specs. VW Darrin in a few videos back has a video on the fitting the cam bearings.

    I keep hearing you need to get the bottom of the rear cup on the rocker and tip of the valve parallel with the machined surface on the head where your valve cover would go, then I’m hearing you need to get the face of the valve adjuster side parallel with the face of the valve, I don’t know who to listen to

      Of course this is a lot of very confusing information in this poorly prepared video. Please let me know if this helps. I am not a professional engine builder but have a lot of engineering experience solving problems and developing manufacturing solutions. I would like to offer everyone a method I developed in 2015 and published instructions on The Samba. The objective in performing rocker arm geometry is to find the correct length push rod when at the point of TVL/2 by way of adjusting the shims under the rocker arm such that half height results in the valve stem plane being parallel to any other un-pushed stable valve stem. How is parallel determined? Most will employ the "eyeball" method as viewed from the rocker end but if small bubble levels are used then maximum precision and repeatability can be achieved. One bubble level is placed on any other valve stem with its adjuster screw removed. The other bubble level is affixed (magnet & double tape) to the valve lash adjuster screw. Once the two levels are approximately centered when at half of total valve lift then the push rod length can be measured. Centering the rocker arm contact with the valve stem at half height will minimize valve guide wear and resistance. Follow the path of the rocker contact across the valve stem surface to fully understand.

  • @Mikefngarage
    @Mikefngarage 8 месяцев назад

    There are clamps called High pressure hose clamps and they work good. I have ones like yours on mine they work just fine too. Some guys go with AN fittings which are even better. the right side may be lean. check for vacuum leaks. ( could be old fuel too) that is why it was so much hotter than the left burning the paint on there. I use carb spray and spray it around the manifolds or boots to see if they are leaking.

      @onehappykombi just as an idea. Use an earth wire on the pole that is on the inside of the cab. (Next to your knees) and use this wire as the earth cable for the horn? If it's an earth problem. If not, adjust the height of your horn push button. Remove the horn cover at the steering wheel. Under it, you should have 3 screws. Adjust this outwards. Each screw should have a spring on each one. This pushes the contact ring away from the steering wheel. If it makes contact with the steering wheel, it will complete the circuit and make the horn work. Just a couple of tips.

    silver air duct tubing. 1 lenght will do a Bus. The first piece cut was almost long enough to do both sides. I got sad seeing that. Take the left over stretch it out evenly till you get a good flex. now make your cuts. you' ll gain. You cut it while was compressed for shipping/storage form.

      Thank you for commenting I will give this a try. Although the stuff is cheap, I don’t mind if I wasted some and it still looks great!

    the muffler/heater boxes. That lever you don't use that on a Bus, take it OFF. you use the lever pointing straight up.. I gotta get this out there. That fuel pump. you need to check out a pierburg pump with Alt. ok don't this and you will see why I say this. > before leave your shop or install the motor try to remove that pump. just remove the two nuts, the try lifting that pump up and clear studs. you don't need to remove the fuel lines

    Nice to hear from you again; you had been under the radar for some time. Aftermarket tins do not fit very well.

      @@onehappykombi Awesome!!! You’ve gone to great lengths to do things right. I did the exact same thing to my car about 18 years ago. Found all the OEM tin and fan housing and thermostat system including the famous Hoover Bit (for which you can find good new reproductions that fit great). Up in NY it will help the engine warm up quicker and nicer during cold weather. Can’t wait to see the install and start up videos.

    Great video. I learned a lot. My bus had beetle tin on it. So frustrating. I’m slowing figuring out what I need. I’ll have to look but I’m pretty sure I’m missing all the thermostat stuff so it nice seeing what I should have.
