  • As you probably know, I am a total beginner on engine building. Hopefully my mistakes help other people learn! This was also my 1st time using engine case sealant
Which case sealant do you prefer?

I'd recommend stuffing a paper towel down those cylinder holes before I put the nuts and washers on. one oops and the case is coming apart. Don't ask me how I know. Very good video to watch, nice work.

That is a great tip, however I heard stories of people forgetting the paper towel in there which can also be chaotic!

Kudos for your meticulous work. Regarding the oil pump, you could’ve removed the studs by double nutting them. Still, though, I wouldn’t worry too much about those if you’re getting the correct torque. You’ve used the gaskets and the Permatex so you shouldn’t have any leaks there. Remember to install the tin that goes before the crank pulley. Some people forget that; also useful to use a bit of Loctite on the two bolts that mount it to the block. After the pulley is installed it’s very difficult to get to them and you don’t want them loose.

      Thank you for your message!
I will remove those studs next time the engine is out the way you suggested

If this was about mating your engine block you sure took a long time to do it

Have you had any issues using this permatex sealant? Do you run the risk of clogging oil passage ways if the sealant seeps into the engine? or contaminating the oil?

No issues so far. I did get a lot of people telling me I used too much of it which is probably true, but the engine is doing good!

How did the engine turn out? It looks a little tight in this video

One of your rods for one just sticks in place, those things should flop easily not bind or be stiff whatsoever

okay thanks for the heads up. I haven't had any issues after running it for a few thousand miles. Do you think this could be because I assembled it using white grease instead of oil? @@Fahrfrumlosin
