      I say 'grounding' to reference how to enhance the emotion which yes, paradoxically releases energy. By making it a full in-body experience, feelings rise to the surface (consciousness) so they can be released and later, processed. In regards to this video, it's via the stomping gesture that you're grounding to release. Quite an earth-based video haha I hope this brings some clarity Brittany!

      @@Brittanyem I know what you mean! In a way it feels good to release emotion or feeling states immediately - somewhat like giving into a favorite treat after resisting it for a month. However, when you contain the emotion to such intensity and provide an outlet, the energy fills and expels through the entire body not just one part which gives an all encompassing release. Full & Deep letting go!

      @@BrittanyAMorrow I went through a year and a half phase where that charge would unconsciously build up, signalling a need for release, without my interference. That unconscious charge has since subsided but it’s interesting to see you kind of build that charge yourself (if I’m seeing this correctly? 😅) for the purpose of release. Maybe this is something I should consider trying myself… thank you for sharing!

    Brittany, can you help with one thing? I have great resistance to work (worked in abusive work environment for a long time). I need to work, now I have a good work and good people, but I'm projecting stored up anger at them and do not work. What can I do?

      Hey! My first thought was...'He-is-afraid-of-spiders needs to meet the parts that still hold resistance towards the work environment because they're sabotaging and leaking into a place that can fruitfully give back. Financially, psychologically, emotionally...this is a great opportunity to work with the shadow.' Here are a couple of options: You can do this with a coach/therapist or tap into these waters lightly with active imagination which is a Jungian technique to give your emotions a face by meeting them in your mind (personify them!) Or Parts Work which is a method created by Richard Schwartz where you as well meet this 'part' of you that is still resistant towards work. You'll find how complex your inner world is through both of these practices. As for somatic healing, I wouldn't recommend you do practice any exercises without another person to contain your experience unless you feel confident treading in the body solo. Remember to have patience, strength, compassion and honesty in this. You got it! Hoping this answers your question.

      Give them resources to learn their emotions and outlets to express their emotions so they're less likely to act impulsively or catch themselves if they do. Help them grow in awareness of their inner world. If you aren't already, be a strong pillar that's ridiculously empathetic and compassionate for them to grieve however they need too. I hope this helps, reading your comment strung my heart cord because its the exact age I needed to process grief but the world didn't have many direct resources. Luckily we live in a trauma-informed time, take advantage of it!

    Dear Brittany does this somatic work ever end I have been doing now for almost a year and it is the same move starting with the hip shaking and intense movement going up to the neck and my neck start moving right and left and in circles and become very fast and strong in scary way am I doing something wrong

      I'm glad to say it doesn't not end and you are doing nothing wrong. This is simply how the unconscious moves you but I would recommend adding different practices and observe how you respond to them.

    Your channel is super. Yes, the Unknown and complete surrender and letting go in every moment, again and again and again and... I have been on a very similar journey in the context of advaite vedanta/nonduality. Again, the terms are irrelevant. Do you have any experience with sound or frequency therapy?

    Interesting. This is the same thing as kriyas in emotional work/shadow work in consciousness or spiritual work, which is done to embody and integrate clarity of one's true nature. Sometimes also it is said Kundalini is at work when there is much energetics moving through the body. But the terms and context are so irrelevant! The connection to Self and not ego is the key. I think more and more as a society we can connect all the contexts for a more universal, secular paradigm of healing. Thank you.

      Look into the practice and see if it's right for you. Ptsd takes time usually with a lifestyle change and a long-term coaching/therapy container for support.

    I’m really enjoying your videos. I just found you. what you’re describing here sort of reminds me of when I do mushrooms. Psychedelics have helped me allow change to occur this last year. Through Macrodosing and a lot of meditating. It’s like the mushrooms have retrained me how to be a human lol! I don’t totally understand the stomatic work yet, but I think it’s right where I’m at! I can stretch for hours now, I never used to stretch. I’m more of a bodybuilder type. 🤷‍♀️

      Thank you. Somatic work is anything with the body as a way to process trauma, stretching is one of many ways to move the energy through. Keep up with some of my videos, read books, keep researching and you'll get a sense of somatics!

      You are very welcome and I'm glad it helps your practice! Interestingly, I've found in my practice and with clients there's a natural mother energy that takes over once the somatic release is complete, you innately begin to self-sooth. It's quiet beautiful.

      2:37 tells you what to look for: Tremors, shaking, facial expressions, gestures & switching positions. 4:40 is if you want to cut the entire video and watch how the body processes trauma. Healing is in the nuanced movements as much as it's in expressive ones. Some exercises look cathartic as they renegotiate chronic trauma while others look rhythmic and subtle. This is only 3-9 building blocks for SE and the objective is Pendulation. This video is maybe less entertaining as it is insightful, it's for you to observe the involuntary response, grab a cup of tea and watch with curiosity.

    How often does one have to release trapped emotions to completely release them? Ive been doing trauma release exercises, not that often but it feels like there is still left a lot of anger to release. Do you recommend doing those exercises on a daily basis?

      Hi Sam. Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a limit to releasing trapped emotions because we are always emoting and they build easily if we don't tend to the inner cries. However, they do neutralize with a consistent inner work practice or a lifestyle change that's formed around mindfulness if you really want to pour into yourself. You'll know you've integrated when you feel less triggered, more adaptable, and receptive, as if that emotion is no longer controlling you but you collaborate, contain, and express WITH it. You can do this practice as often as you want; it won't hurt, and you may come to see different faces of anger. Art and the gym are great outlets as well. One key component that I highly recommend and want to emphasize is that you need time for self-care. This bioenergetic exercise is hot, hard, and intense which means you need to meet yourself with cool, soft, and mellow. Be easy! A self-love evening routine will feel like a big cuddle (or hug) to the parts of you that are still burdened. Letting these parts know you don't want to get rid of what is here... but you want to care for what is here, may open the process up for greater release. I hope this helps Sam!
