  • Let's address the misconception that the ego is 'bad.' The first half of today's video explores Carl Jung's perspective on the ego and its crucial function in the Individuation process. The second half explores the consequences when the ego is relinquished or remains underdeveloped. The ego is something worth understanding because it is the way you experience yourself and the world. Do you see through a narrow lese, do you feel large and able, do you sense constriction or beam with expansion? Like a camera that zooms in and zooms out, the Ego is here.

*2 Ways to Work With Me:*
    *Option 1: 6-Week In-Body Immersion*
This is a private introduction to Somatic Healing. Each week, we will engage in a new exercise that will inspire spontaneous expression as you begin to trust the many ways your body wants to move towards harmony. I will guide you through emotional blocks and help you decode signs within symptoms. In our time together, you will acquire numerous somatic techniques, a comprehensive review of each experience, and a lifestyle plan to live in accordance with the laws of the body. This process is to REVITALIZE what was once traumatized - from frozen to sensitized. Coming alive and feeling like home.
    - Structure: 6/90 min sessions (Must be used within 8 weeks)
This work is for you if you want to learn the mechanics of the body and explore Eastern/Western techniques to heal from trauma.
    *Option 2: 12-Week Private Mentorship*
This is a 12-week experience that requires you to slow down, feel, and express. I take a holistic, embodied approach to help you create a lifestyle that is purposeful and energetically alive.
During our time together, you will learn how to navigate the unconscious psyche-soma and cultivate a healthy sexuality. I will introduce you to books and embodiment exercises, and we will create a diet and exercise plan tailored to your mobility and daily responsibilities. I’ve personalized this mentorship to be as insightful and supportive as possible! All of my work draws upon trauma psychology, somatic techniques, and spiritual practices.
As a self-healing system, respect and compassion are the cornerstones of what makes you feel like ‘home’. Without these two principles, you will have quite a difficult time differentiating from symptoms and will easily fall prey to emotional states. For this reason, there are conditions to inform you if this mentorship is feasible for you.
Prerequisites: Complete sobriety and no medication. However, if you're willing to transition into sobriety and want extra support, I will honorably work with you. This is non-negotiable when working with trauma. If you cannot do this, it’s okay; it simply means that I am not the right coach for you.
This mentorship is right for you if you…
    - Can manage 12 weeks of dedicated somatic inner work
    - Want to learn from the body
    - Can say no to drinking/smoking
    - Have 10-14 hours a week for self-care (2 hours per day)
Full Mentorship Details: This extends over 12 weeks. 1 x 120min weekly meeting (same day & time). I offer support between sessions during open office hours every Friday. This is the optimal time to check in, provide updates, and ask questions. All communication will be through Telegram. I am offline Sunday-Tuesday; these are the days I recharge for the week ahead.
*For All Incoming Clients:* Send a direct message to my Instagram to schedule a consultation. It can take up to 14 days for me to respond because I want to intentionally meet with you.
It’s come to my awareness that this work will cross your path at a very specific time. It requires a significant amount of sacrifice within your personal and emotional reality to have a cohesive integrational experience. Speaking from my heart, this process is as heavy as it is revitalizing - it’s a journey to Respect. This is why my work is structured to be paired with a certain mindset and emotional pull that will transcend mundane reality to link with the magical essence of the Soul. If you’ve read this far and feel a resonance you cannot dismiss, know my purpose here. Until then, heed the call!

Sharing your point of view is extremely necessary. Keeping an open mind and being truly willing to understand everything is necessary for a person. I don't know if you're familiar with Ram Dass, but watching your video reminded me of something he emphasizes in one of his lectures where he says "before you become nobody, you need to become somebody" because all the content we have access to about ego death, about the negative characterization of the ego, can be very harmful and stigmatize something so complex. Knowledge is built in layers; you will only be ready to understand something when you are ready to truly understand it. Not before and not after. Nowadays I see that the ego has an important role in my life because it serves as a compass. I can grasp the breadth of many issues and also see myself trapped in my ego in a way that is not healthy for me. It becomes a lifelong work...

This is a great message by Ram Dass! I'm glad you find comfort in the ego structure, from what I've found, it invites continuity and the quality of the ego is where we work with flexibility or limitation. Every part of our psychological and physiological make up is so important, deeming any as 'bad' is just silly. The ego is an ally in the life long work

The reason you need an ego is a lot like why you need a private bank account.
It’s good to be generous and connected. But a person needs boundaries.

The teachings that claim you should dissolve the ego do not use this jungian definition. In fact the definition you have provided by quoting jung actually defines more the consciousness or conscious awareness rather than the ego. A better definition of the ego would be the sense of self. What you can perceive about yourself or Who you think you are. Because you can not perceive most of the things about yourself only a 2D narrow image. Therefore you miss your true identity unless you remind yourself every now and then that there’s more depth to yourself than what you can perceive. Dissolution of the ego does not mean to get rid of the sense of self but rather putting less importance on your self perceived image and more importance on your emotional and mental well being. If you thought that you were a 30 year old psychologist woman and lost your vision after a tragic car crash, your perception of yourself would cause you tremendous suffering. It’s not a delusional state, it’s a profound teaching by Buddha and it’s not even a theory you can experiment and see for yourself. If you can spare 5 mins per day to pay attention to your breath without thinking very surprising insights and a new perspective for looking at the world emerges. I genuinely recommend this simple practice it brings unimaginable emotional and psychological benefits ❤

The Ego and Ego-Consciousness is what I'm explaining in the first half and I do in fact, clarify the ego is a 'sense of self' when I stated Freuds quote that the ego is based on 2 foundations - the somatic and psychic. Though I didn't state 'sensing' when I said the ego it's a mirror to itself and limited by itself I was hoping others could feel this for themselves. As for the dissolution of the ego, I referred to this state as having weak ego function that doesn't go away because it never can, but as you said it becomes less important when reorganizing psychic content is a priority according to the Self. I appreciate your comment and I'm glad to clarify important details or misunderstandings as I share information to the best of my ability.

I have recently battled with the notion of ego, or ego death. If someone is rude to you or wants to hurt you - is it right to stand up for yourself? Or is that succumbing to the ego and taking things too personally? Are you supposed to just brush everything off, is that the meaning of an ego death? Thank you

    • @BrittanyAMorrow
      @BrittanyAMorrow  3 месяца назад +3

Hi! To ease your curiosity around ego death; it’s near impossible for the ego to die because it’s inherently nested into the psyche/body. It can be small, weak, transcend or step aside momentarily but from my research, it cannot permanently die.
The meaning of an ego death from the new aged culture seems to be confusing ego death with ego refinement or persona change - the claim is that the ego has died because they don’t perceive themselves as they once were and they don’t see life the same. There is a detachment from a specific identity and lifestyle which has sustained them for a long period of time. This feels like a descent and a death but it’s really a revision of the ego and a persona adjustment.
It is 100% right to stand up for yourself and on the opposite pole reflect when you’re taking things too personal. This is the fun part about inner work, every day is an opportunity to practice listening to your body’s cues and analyzing different thoughts in the mind. Both are necessary so you can find a healthy balance to set boundaries and equally, just let it go and don’t react for your own personal peace. Energy can be spent elsewhere.

I heard that "dissolution" of ego and full embodiment of it are 2 realities that develop simultaneously, what do you think about that?

    • @BrittanyAMorrow
      @BrittanyAMorrow  3 месяца назад +2

I think that the quality of the ego is equivalent in a state of dissolution and embodiment. It may be embodied yet fragile. Yet, if the ego is strong and dissolves intentionally for unconscious content to assimilate, the embodiment of this ego is to the same degree, full and secure in the face of the unknow or discomfort. So yes, I think the two realities are developing simultaneously and the quality/quantity will vary.

I think I perfer Dr K's definition of ego.
Some of this feels way too fufu.
The way he explains his definition of ego is like anytime you are doing a comparison with yourself or using an "I" statement.
I frame this as using labels.
The reason why you don't want ego in this regard is for example when you tie yourself to a label of something like "I am a good teacher", what happens when in the future this isn't the case anymore or you no longer teach?
It's like you were using this ego to connect to yourself and define who you are where the "you" part of who you are is quite a bit different and my connect more to some of the things you were talking about in this video.

You prefer the ego to be to the point haha I can respect that and I see what you're saying. Just to clarify, I'm not associating ego to persona. I'm associating ego to ego. The ego function and structure is necessary for continuity within the individuation process and that was my main objective in this video - you need it for the inner work to deal with unconscious contents. Sorry the fufu explanation wasn't to your liking!

It's just that I see you using all these complex terms that I have no way of understanding and there is not enough reasoning for how I take in and process information to understand why this is the case or not.
It's too NF in my opinion and would probably be helpful to more if it had more or less an equal level of ST.

@@shindig9000 I sincerely will apologize for the complexity! My intention was not to confuse you.
I'm catching a laugh because I'm not sure what NF or ST means (even after researching it on google)...so we've just met one another's request for direct speech. Noted!
