Sadly, my entire collection was stolen whilst I was at college in 1979. I restocked a couple of hundred albums when vinyl sales collapsed in the early 1990s however, by 97 prices had started to escalate. Some pretty cool picks there guys. I remember buying the Armageddon album when it came out, jeez showing my age! Great stuff. "Wake Up, It's Tomorrow" is my fave S.A.C. album by far. I picked it up for £1!, when we had a new record store open up in our town, probably around 1977. They had a rack of £1 albums, and although some of the bands were unknown to me at the time, I grabbed them because the covers looked interesting, including "Outside Looking In" by Tangerine Zoo, "Together (As A Way Of Life) by Illusion, which is pretty decent heavy rock, and also Mind Garage (not so hot).

    You definitely have an eclectic taste in music. Spirit's debut has a cool jazzy/funk/psych vibe to it. Caught the band on their "Potato Land" tour back in the 80's, when they played here in the U.K. Also saw Randy California on his solo tour, promoting his "Euro/American" album in '82. July goes for silly money. I managed to grab both 45's years ago, for roughly $15 each, with "My Clown" being an original U.K. copy, and "Hello Who's There" being a Belgian piccy sleeve. Not really that bothered for the album though. W-a-y too pricey for me!

      @@sorinvinyl1523 Trouble is, it'll probably cost a bomb just for a crappy copy. The album was only $20, because of the cover, so it was worth grabbing for that price, and I'm always hunting for other stuff, so it's kinda on the back burner for the mo'.

    Gotta LOVE the shrink wrap! It always adds desirability and overall eye-appeal, not to mention nostalgia when the original shrink wrap is on (tightly) and still has the hype stickers AND the original price stickers! My favorite price sticker is actually the old yellow Kmart stickers because they look so cool on those older albums. Yes, I would have actually removed the shrink from that one album too!

    Some really cool finds, especially for the prices. The Doors, (my fave band), stuff were great pick-ups. Managing to get "Strange Days" with the lyric sheet is a nice find. Plus, The United States Of America, along with the Fifty Foot Hose, were tops in the electronic/psych weirdness field. The record looked a little iffy condition wise to me, so whether it would be worth the cost of trying to fix the warp or not...? Luckily, I managed to get a Minty copy years ago, with the limited envelope sleeve. Dorothy Moskowitz, now in her 80's!, is still recording weird stuff. Her latest C.D. called, "The Afterlife Album", has recently been released, and is pretty interesting. I posted a very short snippet of U.S.A.'s "Coming Down" promo vid on Y.T. that ya might enjoy.

      Love the U.S.A. That copy was worse than I realized when I took it home, but I got a very nice cover upgrade out of it. I would love to find the bag sleeve! I had no idea she is still making music, thats really cool. I have seen many of your videos on youtube, I love watching old clips of these obscure bands playing :). Thanks for watching ✌☮

    Everyone below pretty much shared my sentiments, but I just want to say that it’s really great that you have your friend, Matthew, to share this great hobby with. It reminds me of when I lived in Vegas and a vinyl collector friend and I would peruse Zia Records among other record shops and now, I have NOBODY to share the hobby with since making the huge mistake of moving to north Idaho. My friend is still in touch and we discuss our cool finds in phone conversations, so not a total loss. Hobbies help to build strong friendships! Have fun 😊

    John McLaughlin was raw, technically superior and more inventive than Hendrix hands down. Hendrix is of course iconic but compare Mahavishnu Orchestra's - Inner Mounting Flame to Hendrix's - The Cry of Love. Both 1971. No comparison. Likewise you have Holdsworth, Fripp, FZ... Jimi was a monster but though I don't like to say 'overated', compared to these guys he was middling as an innovator. There are levels to this shit that get overlooked because of the luminous tragic glamour... the dark romance and commercial interest of a short lived troubadour like Jimi.

    • @sorinvinyl1523
      @sorinvinyl1523 7 дней назад

      I would agree, but Jimi Hendrix showmanship was out of this world. Literally an alien from outerspace. I love Hendrix so so much. John McLaughlin, Holdsworth, and Fripp are probably technically superior, but Hendrix just blows me away in a different manner. ✌☮

      @@sorinvinyl1523 That's fair. I take nothing away from him & it's silly comparing musicians as singular and unique in approach as all of the above. I just like to insert the others in the conversation when greatness comes up 'cause they earned the shine.

    The Eagles don't suck. It's just AOR and overplayed. High rotation on the airwaves sucks the life out of music. Like, I'd probably hate Oasis for all the reasons I do, but I wouldn't loathe them if they hadn't got such hype and saturation.

    Cool stuff. Reminds me of my best friend and I beginning to dig together in our teens at the two local used record shops and we’d hit garage sales, the monthly flea market, thrift stores, anyplace we could find them. That was pre-internet. And we were curious about everything, all genres. I’d go into a shop and come out with a Sabbath, Mac, fusion, disco, psych, and they could never figure out what I was doing. A lot of fun and I’m still collecting today, as eclectic as ever, always checking out new sounds. Enjoying the videos, thanks. That first Devo is great! Give it a chance. It’s a grower.

    When browsing the albums on eBay, you can find all sorts of great deals IF you’re not looking at the mainstays. By that, I mean Elvis (my most favorite to collect!), the Beatles, David Bowie (SO overrated in my opinion), Dio, Queen or Bob Dylan. Most vinyl hunters look for all of them. But as you already know, you can really get carried away on there and end up spending a ton of money! Have fun 😊

    Another great video, Sorin! Dillon from Noble Records recommended you and so I’ve been watching and listening to your reviews on these great albums! You’re doing a fine job at it and I would like to add that I appreciate the fact that you’re keeping it clean like Dillon does; no “F-bombs”. I have seen too many RUclipsrs who like to throw those in, which spoils the “family friendly” feel. Once these guys do that, they’ve lost me as a viewer! Keep up the good work and I will look forward to your next video.
