Ending friendships (rerun)
Просмотров 2283 месяца назад
i don’t think friendships are necessarily a forever thing. i think sometimes it’s beneficial to end them. in my twenties, i tried to stay in expired friendships where the dynamic was doing me a disservice. in this episode, i talk through two examples of when i ended “key” friendships in my life.

“doctor week” is a week i dread every year. it’s a week where i stuff as many doctor’s appointments in as possible because i dread them so much that i want to get them all over with as quickly as possible. this time, the appointments were a mammogram, ultrasound, pap smear, genetic testing, and an egg freezing consultation. i talk about what these appointments brought up for me emotionally, in ...
EP: loyalty (rerun)

in this episode i delve into loyalty and, more specifically, what an issue i think it presents in certain relationships. the key relationship that comes to mind for me is the one with my “dad”. to understand why i put “dad” in quotes, you’re gonna have to listen to the episode. mormon punch recipe: 1 part sprite, 1 part rainbow sherbet, 1 dollop of whipped cream, ice to taste.

i used to be an “underdog”. it was a narrative that fueled me. nowadays i don’t have the external circumstances that support that narrative, so what do i do now ? no i’m actually asking. this isn’t rhetorical. i’m literally asking you, the reader, to tell me what to do now. you can send ideas to my managers, norm & derek, at mainstay entertainment.

Bad mood again

i recorded this episode in new york city, the capital of stink. i was in a pissy mood. i kind of want to mention the hotel i stayed in so that, should you visit new york, you don’t have to subject yourself to those nasty, moldy steamers, but i can’t bring myself to. actually i can, it was called public hotel.

so… i’m pretty. this might be a weird thing to say but i think it’s an important one. i spent too much of my life not recognizing my own beauty. i let negative beliefs and body dysmorphia rule me. not anymore, baby ! i like my eyes and my lips and my boobs and my hips and my hair and my cheekbones and the whole package. i’m happy to look like me.

    I guess Pamzee took you into the next level of math and science, you little bitch. Get religious with states' rights and the Biblical nonviolence of Jesus The Christ of The Holy Bible. Only the amazing grace of Jesus The Christ of The Holy Bible has been saving a miserable wretch like me. Lest I vaunt myself before GOD, (like a NaZi), saying, "Mine own hand hath saved me." - Judges chapter 7, Gideons' Bible.

      Pamzee and I are really old, 65 this year, and she's kept an eye on me since highschool, even though she married. You know you aren't allowed to compete with that spy war hell. I'm only allowed to compete with disgruntled clergy for treasure in heaven or bust. As for Persona Non Grata in Law of the Future among the DemocratRepublican, seniority-system, Loyalty up and Loyalty down, National-Security, brown-noser sycophant, enemies of the 1776 US Declaration of Independence - expelled out the Garden of Eden into Stone Age hell - Genesis chapter 3, KJV Bible.

    I'm in a confusing period, I don't feel like getting pregnant, or freezing eggs, I don't feel like being a mother at the moment, I don't feel like going through these processes, but I can feel the "me of the future" being a mother, I see children who arrived at a specific age, they came through adoption, I see them being loving and happy, receiving what I didn't have, in the end, I don't know, anything can happen or nothing can happen either. It's great to hear you talk about "female issues" I've only had colic 3 times in my life, I'm not one to have colic, but I have an absurd headache every month during my period, it feels like my head is going to explode, it's horrible

    Idk if I agree with the telling your younger self to have a lot of sex. Sex isn’t just something you give out like free candy. I don’t want to be that person but it should be given consciously not whenever. If you look at the literature on sleeping around it can have very negative affects which is why this hook-up culture is so rotten to the core. I can’t tell y’all how to live your life and I won’t but my own advice would be to at least wait and only do it knowing the consequences and the emotional attachment that can or will happen afterwards and that’s not including the chances of pregnancy.

    Jennette, you have been a genuine inspiration to me. Your book, admittedly, triggered me. But it was the kind of trigger that showed how much I had been hiding from myself. I loved every word, I related to far more than I thought I would, and your humor reminded me of myself (I never take my trauma too seriously lol). After reading, I fell back into many of the self-damaging coping mechanisms that we had in common and I had read about, but this showed me what was still a problem. It showed me how much work I had to do, and how difficult it might be to do it. I hope I can repair the relationship with my mother, and I hope I have the grace to move on if not. I don't want to get parasocial, but on a human level, you are such a brilliant, powerful, beautiful person. I want to be careful not to wish I was you, but to aspire to achieve the level of health you have. Thank you for your podcast, I'm glad to have been a viewer while it was running. Each episode was truly enlightening. Peace and love to you in the future <3 Again, I don't mean to be parasocial in any way. I just want you to know that your words and your journey have inspired me.

    It's sad but your dad probably saw you and your siblings as extensions of your mom. Especially because he knew you weren't biologically his. But he embraced Karen's daughter because she was explicitly not his child and there wasn't that apparent betrayal. It's tragic that you as an innocent child knew none of that and only wanted a genuine connection with your dad as every child would.

    Also one more thing I would to add. Jeanette says that when she did Sam and cat she was 13 years old. However she was not 13, at the time that Sam and Cat was airing. She was 20. Sam & Cat debuted in 2013. She said she's 31 now, so at the time of Sam and Cat, she was 20 years old an adult. She may have just forgotten.

    • @Xplreli
      @Xplreli 4 месяца назад

      Um no she was 14/15 when it first aired and 13 when they started shooting. She was born in 1992 and iCarly first aired in 2007.

    • @Xplreli

      @@josephnicholas9152 you mentioned, when she mentioned, when she started filming at 13. When she said she was filming at 13 she was talking about iCarly. She wasn’t talking about Sam and Cat. She mentioned Sam and Cat separately but not in context of when she started filming at 13, that was about Icarly. You’re the one who got what she said incorrect.

  • @josephnicholas9152

    In hearing this, I just want to say that first of all, JEANETTE SHOULD NOT ASHAMED OF PLAYING A CHARACTER THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE FOND OF. In my opinion, I believe a lot of people were saying that they remember her from Sam and cat because she as the character of Sam, was actually very relatable to a lot of people. I believe a lot of people thought Sam was a very cool character and actually I believe a lot of people wanted to be more Sam. That's why I believe a bunch of people, I would say to Jeanette I remember you as Sam on Sam & Cat, NOT BECAUSE THEY WANTED HER TO FEEL ASHAMED OF IT. Sam was an endearing character to them. So she should feel a sense of comfort from y'all know what I mean? I'm not talking about her being pushed into acting though she never really wanted to act, I'm just talking about her character being seen as endearing to a lot of people. I LOVE THAT I THINK IT'S ABSOLUTELY COOL!😎

    • @imdaisybtw
      @imdaisybtw 4 месяца назад

      Nobody cares about your relatability, nostalgia and your comment is awful.You're saying you heard this but you payed no attention at all. I imagine you never read the book "I'm Glad my Mom died", because if you did you wouldn't be saying any of this. Jennette has expressed she doesn't want to be recognized for her past characters and doesn't want anyone to mention the name "Sam" or anything to do with the shows to her or when speaking about her. Please don't assume what she should or should not feel specially about shame. Your hypothetical situation of saying what you want to her face is insanely rude, she literally said she hates that and described her trauma around it and how it makes her feel worse. You should read her book/hear her audiobook and refrain from speaking your mind so carelessly. And if you already read and you still feel like that your comment is ok i pity you, you need help, you're very insensitive.
