If you have an Incra TSLS Table Saw Fence these two videos are for you especially if you plan to add the JessEm Clear Cut Stock Guides for safety. The video linked above shows a better way to combine the two than the option provided by JessEm. It's actually cheaper too.
In this video I react to some comments and answer questions on the linked video. These responses help to clarify the original video.

An easy way to change woodworking lathe chuck jaws - A Magnetic Solution to a Big Problem

Changing lathe chuck jaws can be a problem. I came up with an easy magnetic solution for keeping chuck jaws and screws out of the shavings under the lathe. This method should work for all wood lathe chucks but the bowl size may be different. These magnetic bowls are available from many different sources. They were designed to hold parts when something is being assembles or dis-assembled. Some m...

      Hi, unfortunately I've stopped making videos on this channel. I've been very busy with other projects and found when I do have time for my woodworking that it takes far too long to setup cameras to cover all the shots I need. Editing the videos also adds hours to the projects that I no longer have. I'm sorry but that's just the reality of the situation. Perhaps, when I have something I feel will make a great video, I may add some to this channel.

    Many side-mount drawer slides have their cabinet-side attachment points on little tabs cut out from the rest of the slide body. This makes it so you could shim behind the cabinet-side part of the slide with, e.g. some washers, and those tabs will slightly bend in when screwed down. (Although I suspect you’d be better off bending the tabs a bit first so you don’t strip out your screw holes in the cabinet.) I also thought of the edge banding idea when I was building my work bench and didn’t do a great job of making my walls parallel. I added banding to the walls themselves, but doing it to the drawers would’ve been a lot easier. Or, now knowing about those tabs, I would probably just use washers behind the slides.

    Hello and thank you for the video. I install kitchen cabinets and need a white pencil to mark sometimes dark stained or painted moldings to length. I am leaning towards the Sewline Ceramic white pencil. Have you ever tried it on dark wood with a clear coat on it, that can be a little slick sometimes depending on the quality from the factory? I need a sharp crisp line that is easy to see and easy to use (I prefer not to have to constantly sharpen it).

    • @wb_finewoodworking
      @wb_finewoodworking 7 месяцев назад

      While I’ve never used the Sewline pencil on pre finished wood it should work out OK. Any white pencil will tend to flake if pressed too hard. When it does you will need to resharpen. For your job I pick the Pica because it keeps a fine point fairly well and is very easy to sharpen.

    I just installed the 24" version. Wall space is a premium in my shop and this metal design is denser than what I can build with wood. I had no problem with the self-tapping screws using a nut driver socket on a drill/driver. A long extension helped as well. I think the design is solid. You can start both screws without holding the bracket in place which makes it easy to install the brackets even while the base plate is mounted on the wall.

    Could you have added some washers to the Incra risers to lift the mounting plate high enough to clear the positioner?

    • @wb_finewoodworking
      @wb_finewoodworking Год назад

      That would have been a way to fix it. At the time I obviously didn’t think of that and I didn’t have any small washers. One reason I made the video is to show my solution which I still feel is a much better way to mount the JessEm Guides. Just remove two large jig “nuts” two large washers and it’s off. With the JessEm kit there are eight screws and risers and if I added your washers that would be at least two per riser, perhaps more, to attain the right height. As someone else responded, I have the guides off and on often.

      I wouldn’t recommend turning metal on a lathe designed to turn wood. When turning on a wood lathe the cutter is held on the turners hand but on a metal lathe the tool is attached to the lathe. Wood turning lathes and metal turning lathes are made much differently.
