My Rikon has a rack and pinion. It's nice to have but I'm always messing with it...the lock doesn't feel like it tightens enough. I like the format. I know nothing of industry news. Thanks Don.

Thanks Rob. It’s good to hear from you. I’m glad you told me about the Rikon. That is a brand I was considering if I can ever save up enough money for a second band saw. I appreciate your feedback on the format. It’s a work in progress. Hope all is well.

@@wb_finewoodworking I really enjoy the Rikon, it's a pretty solid machine. Actually, Rikon, as a company, seems to be maturing into a powerhouse.
I know I haven't been here for you, Don, as you grow your channel this last year, and I'm sorry. I'm just now beginning to find my youtube legs again and it was difficult watching everyone create videos when I was sick. It's selfish on my part...yes, I'm human afterall (ha!).
Anyway, I'll have 3 videos this Friday, with 13 more videos that are attached to those links (sort of). You'll understand more then. I just hope I didn't waste thousands of hours making this project. I hope I can hold people's interests.
I like the format, it's great. I really honestly don't pay attention to woodworking news, so this will be great for me. Glad to see those 2x4's are coming down, been a real bummer lately.

@@MakeThings Rob, getting well and back to doing things you enjoy is very important. I’m glad that you’re doing better and back to creating. Take care my friend.

I for one was ok with the longer videos, but weekly shorter videos will probably work better to get more views. But who know what youtube wants! lol

Thanks as always for your comments and support. I’m sort of torn between the longer and shorter versions but thought, as you mentioned, the shorter format will increase views. We’ll see.
Take care. Hope all is well.

When are you ordering the Oneida

Not anytime soon. 😁 That’s why this is a news program, not a tool review program.

I appreciate the shorter videos and your content selection.
One of the things Oneida marketing skirts around is that the “Universal” part of the name refers to a large universal motor. I think people will be unpleasantly surprised at the noise when they use it for the first time. I am in the market for a dust collector, and at first thought this was exactly what I’m wanted. When I found out just how loud it is, that turned to a hard pass. I can’t imagine running my PC 7518 in the background while working in the garage.

Mac, thanks for the feedback. You made a great point about Oneida’s marketing strategy on this one. This is one reason I’d love for yearly woodworking shows to return. They gave people a chance to actually see machines in action before buying them. Brands like Oneida usually aren’t readily available to see in local stores.
