can a built sbc with soild roller camshaft last on the street as a driver???
we are in the process of turning our 1971 el camino ss in a cruising street car, we are not racing it anymore and are taking all the race parts off to make a cruiser , we put the street tires on with brand new cooper cobra tires, took the race shifter out and put in the original horse shoe shifter in, dialed the carb in to cruise mode, we are going to be doing the interior and also changing the rear gear to make it more efficient for driving long distances, time to put it back to original and enjoy cruising it around, thanks everyone for your support we really appreciate everyone, our email is H1971elcamino@yahoo.com

me and tony go back to spencer's auto salvage to look thru the rest of the old cars we missed the first time there, we fine the engine wiring harness for jenny's 65 chevelle and also get some deep dish beauty trim rings for our rally wheels, and also found some old bed rails for jenny's 1920' s bed frame , and tony buys a front nose clip from a 67 firebird for wall art and a old old snow blower...

me and tony tear down a 1971 350 4 bolt main from a camaro to do a budget build on for jenny's 65 super sport, until we can get the ls7 fix right to put in the car.. this is just temporary just to get the car moving under its own power , but this 71 sbc was full of mouse nest and has to be cleaned and gone thru ... but it's way cheaper since me and tony both have lots of sbc parts laying around...

We tore down the big block Chevy Ls7 due to a clunk in the pan when turning the engine on its side on the engine stand to drain block… we got the oil pan off to find the oil pump pick up tube laying in the bottom of the smashed pan, so we decided to tear the rest of the engine down to make sure everything was ok and ran across a few issues, but now we know what we are dealing with and are going...

The Elco looks great with the new wheels/tires. Agree with the idea of giving it some love and getting it back to a daily driver. It sounds really nice. Are you gonna go back to a flat hood or stock cowl induction hood? Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
hey brian we are goin to focus on the interior and rear gears first, then move onto the engine and possibly change hood back to the factory cowl induction setup , but it's definitely going to be more fun to be able to put some miles on it 👍💪

That's a great parts haul sittin' on the floor. And a ton of new parts too. Gonna be busy soon. The blue '65 needs a big block in it. I've owned 5 early Malibu's over the years. I've put big blocks in 4 of them. They just look like they belong there and fill the space so nice. 😀
i agree but until we can get everything together for the big block combo we go sbc auto but it will be a big block 4 speed car eventually ...
@@MMCGRACING - I know. I think you mentioned that in a previous video. I'm just a big fan of the Chevy big blocks. I'm currently building a '65 Malibu that I'm putting a 454/TH400 in. I wish mine was as nice as yours. I'm still replacing floor pans and I need a passenger side door. Thought I had one located but got scammed out of $350 on a Facebook Marketplace deal. An expensive lesson learned. Anxious to see how your build goes. Keep up the good work.😀

Engines shouldn't be labeled by their overbore unless they are also stroked. It's a 350 Chevy, right? G-bodies rock. They inherited the platform that Chevelles and GTOs used to represent.
yes the a body platform of the late 60s early 70s were true american muscle 💪, and i go by cubic inch of my engines , so you are correct it was a 350 cubic inch chevy now it's a 355 cubic inch, i believe when they say 350 from factory they mean cubic inch , thanks for watching we appreciate it .
