Hello I used to love this gun but now seem to be having issues with air leaks through the nozzle? Did you not find this on yours after cleaning? It seems after cleaning the gun out and refitting the seperator gasket it now leaks from the nozzle when the airlines plugged in, i can't find any videos of anyone stripping this gun down and refitting parts, I've had it apart 5 times ( all parts ) and have even brand new seperator gaskets x5 but it still leaks air when airline plugged in, it seems a poor design to me or am I doing something wrong but I can't see how as the seperator only go's in one way
Hi Steve, So when you attach the air supply to the gun, you get air coming out the front without the trigger being pulled?
@peteshobbies5383 yes that's correct and you can feel it coming from behind the nozzle cap from the seperator gasket
Hi Pete, another great reference video and despite it being 2 years old, it's still relevant material that is helping painters like me. So a huge thank you for your hard work in getting these videos together. Can I ask, have you had any issues with the W50 since this video? How has it performed? Thank You
Hi Buddy, I have not had any problems with the W50 yet. Although of all the guns I have, the Iwatas do seem to be the most unreliable due to losing air around the rear needle guide, but the W50 has been fine 🙂. Thanks for the kind words mate, they are much appreciated 👍
Another great one, mate!
Thanks Ben, much appreciated as always 👍
Hi Pete, another great video mate it was nice to see you do the prep work which so far is pretty much the same as I do so it looks like I've learned something over the past couple of years🤨😅I find I don't need a high build primer so much these days so the Novol I use is a primer surfacer or a WoW so I mix it half way between the two which gives me slightly more build than a WoW mix I then sand that flat using guid coat with some P800 then it's ready for basecoat, the good thing about that is it cures in a couple of hours then I can sand it the same day👌👍 I'm surprised you are having all that trouble with the Iwata guns when the copies seem ok, do they both use the same air valve? if so have you tried swapping them between the copy and the original🤔it's really bad QC from Iwata when you are paying for a premium product but it's worse than the copy🙄🤦♂cheers Pete I'm looking forward to the next one👍
Hi John, It depends on temperature, but at say 20c, the Upol is OK to sand in a few hours. The problem with me is that it's normally cooler, so I just leave it overnight, but can do things same day it needed, normally that's outside 😅 I don't know if the parts are interchangeable to be honest , I will check one day, cheers mate 👍
Love the videos as always Pete! In a different one you mentioned how you liked side cups and thought they were as easy if not easier than top cups so I decided to get one of these 101s. Any suggestions on the easiest way to plumb in a pps adapter?
Hi buddy, you can buy the PPS adapters easy enough on Aliexpress, 3m make them also
Very interesting. Great video
Thanks, buddy, much appreciated 👍
Thank you for the video 👍
Thanks, mate, much appreciated 👍
Really enjoyed this format Pete. More please.
Hi Mate, Yes, I'll try too. Cheers 👍
When is the review coming out?
Won't be too long 👍
60 seconds in and a thumbs up all ready.
Hi Andy, Thanks, mate. I know I sometimes go a bit off topic 🫣 but hopefully, it's not too bad, much appreciated 👍
Hi Pete I think I've said this before there is a market for knock offs but having been in the paint game all I can say is not for me in a professional environment but DIY guys give them a go but be open minded, minded, thanks for the video mate 😊😊😊😊😊
Completely agree. If i were painting for my bread and butter it would be premium guns all the way. But these cheaper guns def have their place.
Hi Dean, Hope you're well, mate 👍 , I do see both sides of the argument but certainly in my case, with these, it made me by the real thing so I don't think it's all bad for the genuine manufacturers, cheers Dean 👍
Peter, I purchased a mini pistol that appears to be very good, the DT 200, has very precise adjustments, at the moment I have only tested it with water, it comes with a 100 to 124 ml reservoir.
Hi Mate, I have seen them, they look ok, it'll be interesting to hear what you think when you have used it
Peter, if you had wats I would send photos of the DT200 spray gun, here in Brazil we use ZAP.
@edilsonaraujo1118 Do you use Instagram?
If people say the 717 looks like a Sata5000 they haven't seen the 415 yet. 😅 Edit: can't find it on their retail website?
Hi Harold, I can't find it either. It was on there a little while ago as 2 people told me they ordered one. I presume it's just an oversight of some kind, I have messaged them to see why as they are very good quality guns, your the second person this weekend to point that out to me 😂, cheers mate 👍
what if you have a copy gun but genuine te 20 or 110 caps as im in a situation my paint gun has been stolen
Hi Mate, sorry to hear you had your gun's stolen 😞, I have never tried the a genuine cap on a fake gun in use, they do fit but not snug, something is not right so I don't want to damage my genuine caps
Sorry, but you're wrong. Difference between WS-400 EVO "series 1" base and clear is that, the base version have 1.3OBS nozzle set and clear version offer more sizes, except that and knobs color, the guns is the same. But in WS-400 SR2 "series 2", there are no such similarietes. Just look on the parts codes in iwata catalogue. Even 1.3HD nozzle set in SR2 is not the same 1.3HD in EVO. The same situation is in the LS-400. If you swap parts, you create a hybrid.
Hi Buddy, I'm not sure what you are saying I'm saying that's incorrect, of course the tip set isn't the same in Series2 as the Series1 or Evo as you call it, the threads are different as I have said on many occasions, or are you talking about something else?
Maybe I misunderstood something, my English is not perfect. Do You say that the nozzle set in LS and OBS and also the aircaps in WS and OBS are the same? In series2? If so, what is this supported by?
@sim0nses Hi Buddy, yes, I am saying exactly that, the tips and caps, are of course marked differently, as with many Iwata products, but the design, hole sizes and hole pattern are the same, just as it was on the series 1 guns. The difference between series 2 and series 1, is Iwata now mark the OBS cap and WS caps differently, but physical, they are the same as each other, your English is very good BTW 👍
Ok, but these are micro parts. How did you measure the angles and diameter of the holes or the curvature of the cuts? Do you have data from the inside? LS version have ET and ETS nozzle kit (from 1.2 to 1.5, both), what is the replacement nozzle on WS? OBS, OBS-0, OBS+1 (only1.3) or mayby BF-S? BF-S version has also oder air cap.
@sim0nses I have a hole sizing tool to measure the diameter of the air holes. You can also see the angles when using the tool. You are correct about the OBS and LS having different versions of the tip, but they always have had different versions in the series 1, so nothing has changed. All Iwata have done is change the body style to something that looks better in most people's opinion and, unfortunately, isn't very durable when it comes to the digital version which is just awful on a gun costing this much money. The only thing that has been achieved with the series 2 is that the WS400 clear gun is easier to use if the tips are lined up, which I did a lot of videos on.
A former paint rep told me die back happens when the molecules have nothing to grab onto. The catalyst and clear molecules grab onto eachother so more of one or the other 🧬 and the chain isn’t completed. Of course some clears are designed to be reduced.
Hi Buddy, I'm sure there are many reasons it happens. Most clear coats I've used give an up too figure for reduction, normally up to 10%, I haven't seen any that say you should add reducer, although I haven't obviously seen all of them so I'm sure they do exist.
Funny how instructions, which comes with this gun, says minimum pressure 2.5 bar and maximum 3.5 bar. And like yourself, I found it only does a good job at around 2.0 bar. Mine is 0.8.
Hi mate, you find that a lot with the cheaper Chinese products. The spec has little relevance in reality, cheers, buddy 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 Yes, they probably nicked user instructions from some other brand :) Today I did some experimenting with this spray gun. I noticed if I increase pressure, paint flow starts pulsing, so the spray pattern is very uneven. I undone the cap just to see if it helps. And indeed it stopped pulsing. So my guess is, hole in the cup is too small. Not sure if your spray gun has same pulsing issue with higher pressure. But if it does, try spraying with cap slightly undone. Higher pressure made the clear coat super smooth.
@ev-olution8597 I haven't had any pulsing problems
Thanks, I got one of these for £9 something including postage and haven't used it yet. Thanks for the tips and you did a great job there A+
Thanks Robert 👍
Hi Pete, nice video as always ! Does the cap of W400 WBX is the same with the Kiwami WBX ? Cheers
Hi Mate, No, the bezel is different , the centre is the same
@@peteshobbies5383thanks pete ❤
@ianex9639 No worries 👍
Just looked this one up. Thanks, Pete
Cheers Paul 👍
Hi Pete, thanks for your review! Expected the result, as it is just a copycat of SATA
Hi Mate, it's a poor copy to be fair. Some are much better , but you have to try to know, I guess. Cheers, buddy 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 yeah mate, even the name is poorly copied 😆
@benjaminchu6699 🤣😂🤣😂
Needle too long? (not going back enough out of the tip)
There was plenty of travel. It was as if the tip was 1.0 rather than 1.3, but I checked that, and it is 1.3. The air defusing ring was in correctly, and everything was clean, including the cap. It was very disappointing 😞 , cheers, buddy 👍
I see now on Aliex pictures what could be the culprit, Saigaole messed up the aircap. The 2 holes in the horn of a 4000 aircap should be at a different angle (it's how it is in the original Sata aircap and most 4000 clones). Saigaole didn't take that effort and made the horn straight. Now that could work - we know it does with certain aircaps - but probably not with this one.
@Harolddespui you could be right
"I don't need anymore new sprayguns". Ofcourse you do Pete and you know it, a man can't have enough sprayguns, unless you don't have the place anymore to store them. 😂
Hi Harold, If that's the case, I'm in trouble as I have 2 massive thick armoured tool storage containers with plenty of room 😂
Hi Pete, well that was a surprise as I was expecting the gun to be better than that, as you mentioned the fan is pretty small comparing it to the other cheap Chinese guns out there plus it looked painfully slow and I don't mind slow guns but doing a full respray with that gun would be quite tiring😫 The way the clear was going on for the first coat it looked like it was going over basecoat I was shocked when you said it was a flowcoat😲I could see you were struggling to wet the panel up to start with and then you had to slow down which helped👌 My PC415 has been dispatched which was quicker than I though seeing as it had a 5-10 day lead time on it, I'll post some pics of it when it arrives but I can't use it until after Xmas as it's a pressie from Sonia☺I'll be using the PHS155 tomorrow again for clearcoat to see if I can get it to go on a bit flatter than last time as it was a bit peeley🤔cheers mate👍
Hi John, This was really a struggle mate, it's fine if you have a mini gun. You expect it to take time. This is a full-size gun, so really wasn't putting out much material at all. Amazingly, a few people had said they were good, but I really can't see it. It's good to hear the Porphis PC415 is on the way. Should be a good way to celebrate Christmas mate, cheers 👍
Hey Pete sorry for the late reply but as always I didn't get a notification for your comment🙄I was very surprised how slow this gun is maybe it's the design of the aircap as it's a 1.3 or is it!!🤔maybe it's a 1.0m🤷♂I don't know how some people can say this is a good gun😲 Cheers mate👍
@JohnWD40TC02 My thoughts exactly, you don't know until you try, though, cheers buddy 👍
Straight to tge bin with that one! It looked awful to use 🫣
Hi Andrew, Yes, mate, it was painful just trying to get enough on, I had about 5 people saying to me they were good, which was surprising, cheers, buddy 👍
Hi, i'm planning on restoring and repainting tennis rackets with waterslide decals for smaller graphics and vinyl stencil for larger graphics. I just bought an Iwata HP-CS and i'm wondering if I should have gone for the HP-M1 instead? I don't imagine i'll be doing any artwork fine line type of work (which I think the Beugler Pinstriper would do a better job for that anyway).
Hi Mate, The HP-CS is a very good airbrush, being 0.35 it's somewhere in the middle of the airbrush tip sizes, so it's quite universal. The beauty of the HP-M1 is it's simplicity, its a 0.30, but because it has a needle stop, it's more suited to a beginner as you obviously have more control over the amount of materials being used. So you should be able to do whatever you want with either, only thing I am thinking is if most of your graffics are decals, so it's just colours and clear coat, wouldn't something like and LPH50 E2 be better?
@ the only reason I bought this is they want the option of doing slightly more intricate fading patterns and the ability to spray in a lot closer for fine decal spray areas without wasting too much paint
@pdiseris That makes perfect sense
@@peteshobbies5383 thank you for your advice and confirming my decision. I was experiencing a bit of buyers remorse
@pdiseris No worries, it sounds like you have made a good choice 👍
I learn something new every time I watch it. Thank you very much.
Hi guys, You're most welcome 👍
One disadvantage of heating the clear is that it becomes more prone to runs 😅 I learned that the hard way when I tried heating it because I watched you doing it. But good tip overall
Hi Mate, Yes, of course, it stands to reason the more it can flow out, the more it's likely to run, but heating it also helps it cure faster which helps with runs and sagging. It's always a balancing act, really, getting to know the material and the gun you are using certainly helps, trouble with me is I'm always swooping guns, less so materials. They always say, "If you don't get runs, you're not trying hard enough, so it sounds like you're doing just fine. Cheers, buddy 👌
Ifi buy any of these guns and use it mainly for primer/filler on spot repairs like a corner of a rear bumper, or half a front fender. Does a 1.3 or 1.4 work ok with epoxy primer/fill primer or should i get a 1.7 or 2.0?
Hi Mate, it depends on the product you're using. The TDS should give you an idea of tip size. Normally, primer/filler is thicker, so something like a 1.7 would be better, but take a look at that TDS for a guide. I hope that helps 👍
I have binge watched most of your videos. I'm quite obsessed with painting cars and sprayguns, but I can't justify buying so many of them. These videos help a lot with the urge 😆. Some of these cheap guns are surprisingly good. 6 years ago my first one was a chinese gun too, an Auarita MP500 with 1.3 and 1.7 LVLP nozzle sets. I had concerns about it's longevity, but I'm still spraying primer with it in the 1.7 configuration without issues. I wonder how their current products could perform, most Chinese things came a long way in the past six years.
Hi buddy, good to hear you're enjoying the videos. You are certainly right , the Chinese guns are getting better in general, and companies like Porphis are certainly proving they can make very good quality spray gun's. 👍
HI MATE,IF BE POSSIBLE, DO A VIDEO PORPHIS PRD 717VS PORPHIS PRD 715,THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE 2 GUNS?❤
Hi Mate, it's already done. It's just a matter of editing voicing it up, hopefully won't be too long, cheers buddy 👍

Hi Mate, yeah, quite a few, ruclips.net/video/xbUEkwbw4bk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/vYM5nBX7rNk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/VQ6D8T_nJEs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/GgiwHx581xc/видео.html
Thanks Pete
@kevinjackson9406 You're welcome, Kevin 👍
Will u buy a Satajet x Pro? When they come out ?
Hi Mate, I don't really want to, but, yes, I will 😂
Pete, I've been thinking about something you said and I don't agree with it. You stated that if you turn the aircap to the vertical position that it affects the spray pattern. Now this might be true for those guns that use a diffuser but my Iwata's and Sagola's don't so I can't see what would affect the pattern on guns like these or the STAR/ASTRO that don't use diffuser plates. Awaiting you're response and keep up the good work. I met the boys from Porphis at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, we had a nice chat.
Hi Sataman, to a degree, I would agree that not having a distribution ring would certainly negate a lot of the negatives about using the cap 90° out from standard, although I am still not sure it negotiates it completely owing to where the air enter the cap chamber, its something I'll have to test and see what I find. I'm very jealous of you guys with SEMA. We don't really get anything as grand as that in the UK. Sure, there's trade shows but not in the same league, to be honest. Cheers, mate, and thanks 👍
Hi Pete, Thanks for that. I have looked at this one as well. Do you have a video on the Inokraft drizzle D1 it's a LPLV and low overspray . Thanks
Hi Mate, the DI is the same as the YT160, which is the same, more or less, to the A610. Now, they have changed the cap, not as low air consumption as often shown
Thanks, Pete. I will look for that video
No worries, you're welcome, mate 👍
You can see at the end, the silver edge of your phone shows the finish isn't great alright. And really slow. I was actually interested up to that point cos I'm not too keen on fast guns 😊. Did you ever get to use the Saigaole W400? Mine arrived but haven't gotten around to using it yet. Great info as always. Thanks Pete
Hi Mate, Yeah, it's wasn't a particularly good finish, and, as you say, I really held the gun back, just to get material on. It really was slow. So far, the W400 has been ok, but the tip really needs to be tight on mine , otherwise, it flutters, cheers, buddy 👍
The tip on mine took all my strength to remove! Years back, we used to use valve grinding paste to "bed in" the needle to the nozzle 😊. Ever hear of that one 😂
@0012dominic No, I haven't heard of that one, although I thought about doing just that when I modified a little GF3 out to 1.8
Haha. I still have a few tricks so 😂. Might try it again on my "bad" guns 😮
I've been eyeing this gun due to the design of the body, but unknown performance has kept me from purchasing. Good day.
Hi buddy, it's not particularly good for clear coat, but ok for base coats, there are better about at that price
Very informative video - well done!
Thanks, buddy, much appreciated 👍
Ho is the best for clear coat 1.3 or 1.5
Ho is the best for clear coat 1.3 or 1.5
??
Hi, that was the point of the video, one is faster than the other
Thanks for the video, that's why I bought the clone and I only use it for the clear coat, I just had a problem with the trigger, it gets stuck a little, does anyone know how I can solve it?
Hi Mate, If you don't want to take it apart you could try a little light oil on the plunger that the trigger pushs in, put a little oil on the outside of the plunger, where it enters the gun and work in in and out
Can't you place a small but beefy oring behind the knob so the knob will turn heavier? I'm a lefty so i'm not bothered by it.
Hi Harold, I'm not sure that would work that well. The way people seem to find works best is to interfere with the thread, to stiffen it up, I don't like doing that as it is threaded into the body directly, which obviously over time will ruin it
Thanks for good video
Thanks, mate, much appreciated 👍
Would you say this gun puts down a nicer finish than the lph400 ?
Hi buddy, Finish wise, there is not much in it, but it's difficult to compare the two as one is a full-size gun. The other isn't
HI MATE,IF IT BE POSSIBLE,CAN YOU DO A REVIEW ON AVALON A60,COMPARISON AGAINST PORPHIS?
PRARRAWAY SAID AVALON A60 BETTER,I DON'T THINK SO AS FAR AS PRICE
AVALON A-60 OVER $360 U.S
Hi Mate, I did enquire about the A60 and the A30, the A60 is rather expensive, around 500 USD by the time it gets to the UK, I can't see it bettering the Porphis gun's to be honest, they really are very good and no where near the price of the Avalon guns
It's not 360 USD by the time it get to the UK, they want shipping on top of the 360, then we get 20% tax on top, hence 500 USD
I can't say whether it's better or not, but I doubt it
Where did you get the adapter to fit the smaller, I am assuming 125ml pot, on the f160? I am looking for one.
Hi Mate, it's 100ml and it's this one, the F160 is the same thread as the Devilbiss Gti Pro Lite 😀 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125423325848?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ECrBiOqaRCW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=v5EZyL9iR9-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Pete, does the CC tops the Porphis 717 and Devilbiss DV1-S for finish flatness? 😊
Hi Harold, No, it tops the standard RP or HVLP Sata X5500 but not the Porphis or WS400 Series 2 clear gun, it probably as good but not better, the Porphis is much easier to use though as its extremely forgiving about pressure, distance and quality of materials. The DV1S is also excellent, but in a different game as its output is much less. It's more competing with the LPH80 than the bigger guns , cheers, buddy 👍
Pete, do you know if the original plastic Sata air distribution rings fit in the Sata knockoffs like the Ntools 4000?
I am trying to find spare rings for my collection of knockoff guns, and it seems impossible to find. Cheap guns can turn into expensive ones if they are useless after the ring breaks .. 😊 How hard can it be for a Chinese manufacturer to offer them as spareparts. Those things are like 20 cents for them.
Hi Harold, I haven't compared them directly, but I don't think they are not compatible. The cheap Chinese copies don't have any form of spare parts backup, so it's very much a throw-away item if something goes wrong or is lost.
@@peteshobbies5383 I just had a chat with an Ali seller and can help me with 4000 baffles (which should fit guns like the Ntools 4000) and he already put them in his shop. He gave me the link and i checked but ouch, that price. 16 euro's for 1 piece. That's more expensive than a Sata one. 😂
@@peteshobbies5383 I found a seller who has baffles for the 4000 copyguns, but they are 16 euro's a piece. 😂
When i see you laying down the base with the 5000 it is much more even (less cloudy) than in your Ntools 4000 video (which should spray as a Satajet 4000 when i see that aircap).
Hello, I'm new to this but what is the difference between the 103 model and 105 model? thanks
Hi mate, the 105 is HVLP
@@peteshobbies5383 thanks
