great video pete i have the Meizuishi R7303 backing plate not great but usable power cord broke after 3 months i think, then i grabbed a Maxxt off amazon and has been a trooper i will change the lead soon and get the other one going again. they are both great value for the money and i have also had mirka fail on me mate so my 2 cents worth is go for the cheaper ones imo 👍👍👍👍
Hi Grant, Yeah, the cable often goes on theses, because they are moving around so much. I've been using the Meizuishi the last 3 days, seems as good as the Metabo/Mirka one to be honest, so yes, certainly worth buying, cheers mate, hope the weather isn't playing havoc with you too much 🫣
Peter, your videos are very good, I live in Nova Friburgo RJ, I really like tools, I have three large boxes, most of them from Bosch, and I also really like spray guns. I like them a lot
Hi again buddy, you sound like me! , I also love tools, good to hear you're enjoying the videos, I just looked Nova Friburgo in Reo up, it looks lovely 😍 👌
Great video Sir, there is another one my partner introduced to me. Only just started using it on this new boat project, name brand is Phendo, believe that’s spelled correctly. Super smooth, really impressed with it. I believe it’s just higher in price than your low end you were showing, but half of the Mirka. Has the same digital dial, and the top paddle start, not a bad tool at all. Am curious as to how long it’ll last, gonna find out. 6 months thus far with heavy use. Thanks again Sir, cheers
Hi Bryan, Yes, this is the same sander. It's sold under a few different brands, but they are the same sanders apart from the colour. So far, using these has been a real eye opener in terms of effectiveness. They are just as smooth as the Mirkas, as you say, only time will tell. It's a shame they don't make a 3" version as that would be good to try, cheers mate 👍
Pete, you're missing the best of all. Bosch makes a cordless sander that runs on their 18V system. It's model number is GEX18V-5N. I has the form factor of a Dynabrade or an Air Vantage air sander This Bosch will run all day on one 4.0 A-hr battery, it has a 3/32" orbit which is ideal for paint sanding and is dirt cheap on Amazon at $95.00 for the bare tool. Check the RUclips reviews of this sander, they are all glowing.
Hi Sataman, I did look at cordless sanders, my Makita one is cordless, I don't think cordless is any great saving for our sort of work because you are always limited by the extraction hose, so having a cable exiting at the same place as the hose is no problem. I will take a look at the Bosch, it sounds very cheap although I'm all geared up for Makita 18v and Milwaukee 12v & 18v, cheers mate 👍 PS, I just had a look, nice looking little tool, they are 120 GBP over here, so around 155 USD 👍
Super interesting and helpful as always, your channel is a treasure trove of knowledge. It would be really interesting to get your take on when to use the machine Vs when to block. Also, do you use the machine for cutting after paint, and if so do you do it wet or dry? Thanks, Pete.
Hi Angus, I use the machine as much as I can, I only use the flatbed on flatter panels so doors, bonnets/hoods, and roofs. I don't do much car stuff, to be honest, mostly bike bits, so I use random orbital sanders much more. I have a few polishers, so use those for nibs and the like , but many do use the random orbitals , in 2.5 orbit for polishing. I was rather impressed with the visual and handling quality of these Chinese sanders, so only time will tell, I will use them exclusively now to see how they go. They certainly seem good, cheers mate 👍
Sorry Angus, I just saw you asked about dry or wet. Normally, you sand with a slightly damp surface. Normally, people use a misting bottle and a 5.0mm random orbit sander, then you cut/ polish with a 2.5mm.
Hi Pete, well what can I say mate apart from you've done it again🤭over the past 2 evenings I've been searching the auction sites and places like amazon looking at these cheap mirka style electric da sanders to get an idea of what they are like from the reviews then this morning I noticed your video which was a bit freaky😱as you have done this to me before😳😂 I have to agree that they do look like they are worth a punt considering the price of a new mirka which is ridiculous🤦♂ I haven't been on the Chinese sites as yet but the cheapest I've seen was around £130 and even that is about a quarter of the price of the Deros, I've had my Deros nearly 5 years so I'm expecting it to fail at any point as it's used most days and it's been faultless up to now👌You can tell from the look of them that the cheap ones look well made plus they sound exactly the same as the Deros which are nice and smooth. Do you know if they do a 3 inch version in the cheap ones mate🤔a very well made and informative video which has made my mind up to get one when needed, thanks Pete👍
Hi John, Yeah, it's my psychic powers mate 😂. I've been looking at these for ages, even when I bought my Deos last year. I was toying with getting a Chinese one, but bought the Mirka. I know someone who can get very, very good prices for Mirka stuff, so I went with that but still had a hankering to see what the Chinese ones were like, so went for it. First impressions are exactly the same as Porphis guns in that they seem and feel very well made, obviously only time will tell as to how it goes, but both the flatbed and DA sander feel and run great. Obviously, only time will tell, but I will use them exclusively now to see how they go, bit of a bargain if they are ok, cheers, mate 👍
Yeah I think I'll be looking at getting one of these when my mirka starts playing up, if they only last a couple of years or so they will still be a good buy👍
Hello Pete, Great video mate. I was thinking of purchasing the MAXXT 2.5 DA sander, as opposed to the Mirka 2.5. I can't really justfy the 500 squid !? What's your thoughts? Cheers mate, Steve 😎
Hi Steve, I was using the red Chinese sander yesterday for an hour and again today for around 20 minutes, I really can't say there is any notable difference between it and the Metabo which is a Mirka Deros, the only thing I can't say about is longevity, which we will have to see, but performance wise it's fine, highly recommended
I like the design,it looks comfy and easy in hand.the weight seems distributed equally 😄👍🏻.im using Bosch at the moment, it's quite heavy and need a strong wrist..😆..
Hi buddy, these Chinese sanders fit just as nicely in the hand as the named brands, I don't know the weight of the Bosch but these are particularly heavy, cheers buddy 👍
Looking at the specs the Meizuishi weighs almost half as much as a Deros though (1.4kgs vs 1.0). You'll definetely notice that if you do a long sanding session especially on vertical objects like the side of a car. The Meizuishi is higher too which doesn't help either. Well, everything has it's price in the end. 😊
Hi Mate, I haven't weighed them, certainly in the hand they feel more or less the same, now it's easy to notice 15g difference in a spray gun so I suspect they aren't much different, I will check though 😀 Both the Chinese sanders are a little thicker in the body than the Mirka but for me, having bigger hands, it feels better. I've put about 5 hours on the DA sander so far, one session being 1 1/2 hours long, and I can honestly say, it felt and worked just as good as the Mirka, hopefully it will last ok, cheers buddy 👍

@grantssmartrepairs Hello Grant, hope you are well. Many thanks for this. I will take yours and Pete's advice on this. 👍

Very helpful Pete. keep them coming.
Thanks mate, much appreciated 👍
😂😂😂 your OCD kicking in again Pete got more gadgets than the original inspector gadget 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice one mate
Hi Dean, Yes mate, I can't get enough of it 🤣😂 👍

Hi Harold, The Mirka/Metabo Deros weight, including cable is 1555grams, the Meizuishi is 1655grams, so 100g heavier, cheers mate 👌
Airvantage is really good, but pricy. They sell refurbished on Ebay for cheaper. Just as good as 3M.
Hi Buddy, We don't get them in Europe, although they look well made for sure 👍
It being a Chinese machine, is it made as 110 or 220volts?
Hi buddy, it's available in either, I'm in Europe so went for 220v 👍
