Great video Pete, thanks again. I'm glad, i have a R500 and didn't think very much of it really. Presumed it was rusty me was the fault. I might try what we used to do years back with cheap guns - valve grinding paste between the needle and air cap to make a better seal 😊 and see does that help.
Hi Dominic, To be fair, they are very inexpensive guns, so give people a chance to try there hand without much outlay. That said, they do have their limitations, and people do need to bear that in mind. Cheers, mate 👌
Hi Pete, great video as always mate and a good comparison between two different looking guns which are exactly the same so maybe now people will know that all these guns are based around the R500😁 I've had people tell me that the Drizzle is better than my Rongpeng and I've told them that they are both the same guns and they don't believe me which I think is just down to the look of the gun🙄having said that they are fairly good guns for the price and mine lays WoW primer and basecoat very well but I'm not overly keen on using it for clear even at 2.5 bar the finish is a bit peeley but I'm a bit OTT over my clearcoat finishes🤦♂🤓 Cheers Pete👍
Hi John, Yes, as I was saying, any small differences people find will be down to production tolerances more than anything else. They are a reasonable cheap gun at the end of the day, cheers mate 👌
I certainly didn't anticipate the overspray/fog I'm getting when spraying clear coat from my R500 (at 30psi) having been lead to believe "lvlp" meant low overspray. My main message would be to be careful of the fumes if you're not spraying in a booth. Using a smaller gun as Pete suggests is a good idea.
Hi buddy, I'm not sure how some say these are low overspray as they are not, particularly if you bump the pressure up a little. Thanks for the comments buddy, it helps others to realize I am not talking rubbish 😂 , cheers 👍
Hey Pete! I am of the same mind that LVLP doesn't actually exist in a full-size gun as, first and foremost, has any company established CFM parameters of what qualifies as such? If there is to be one, I couldn't imagine the gun having a satisfactory pattern width or fluid output that's comparable to a standard gun. It would be more along the lines of a mid-size gun like the ANI Compact where its use is possibly limited to panel work rather than full resprays of an entire car.
Oh god. Too late Pete. I’ve already bought booth of them because of a lot of videos around here. Low consumption so you can spray with a small compressor and a grate finish….. bull @@@@@. 2-3 turns out from close the material full fan and 30psi. The amount and volume of orange peel from these guns is out of this word. I don’t recommend them at all. You get what you pay for😂
Hi Buddy, yeah, there lots of various models of these that are all but the same. They are ok given the money, but as I said in the video, don't kid yourself your getting anything that's particularly good, as you say, you get what you pay for , cheers mate, I appreciate it 👍
Hi Ben, Its performance is certainly very similar. It is more expensive than the Kiwami4 BA4J was, and the biggest downfall is the air consumption, which is around 25% more, which is a shame 🫠 , cheers mate 👌
@@peteshobbies5383 Hi Pete, yes, surprisingly, the Meiji F410 costs more than the Kiwami BA4J, making the Wider series a better deal. Personally, I think the Wider series is a very good option as it provides excellent finishes and offers a wider variety of tip sizes, ranging from 1.2mm to 2.5mm. However, the only disadvantage of the Wider series is that it has a smaller pattern compared to the Kiwami. I just read the specifications of the Meiji F410, and the SP version consumes 295L (10.4 CFM) of air.
@benjaminchu6699 Yes, the Wider4 is exactly the same as the Kiwami4 except the cap, but, as you say, the cap gives a smaller wetter pattern, which some don't like. The Kiwami4 BA4J uses 7.7cfm at 2bar so around 25% less than the F410
I have a drizzle myself. I noticed the cap outer will thread to the r500 but it's a hair too deep to fully seal. Also got a r500 2.0 cause i wanted a new primer gun. The fan pattern is around two inches🤣🤣 it was 12 on Amazon so not a huge loss but why would anyone want that small a fan with such a big needle😂
Hi buddy, I think it all comes down to the pattern of holes they use. Some manufacturers tend to modify the holes in the cap and tip to take account of the fact that the materials being sprayed will be thicker, I think with these cheap Chinese Rongpeng guns, they just change the markings on the cap and tip but it essentially the same setup as they make for 1.2 or 1.3, so it doesn't work 😂, cheers mate 👍
Hi Wilfred, It's a very good gun and only 3.8 crm , Many people could get by with a mini but completely overlook them for the bigger guns, cheers, mate 👍
Hello Pete, Hoping you could answer two questions for me. First I bought on of the R500 1.3 and my spray pattern is a lot small then what you just showed. I tried wide open and still the pattern is small. What should I try to see if the gun is defective. Second I also bought a new DV1 on ebay for 200 US dollars. The seller posted it was a real DV1. Today the gun came in and it does say DV1 on the gun and Devilbiss on the knob but the gun is a light rose color which I have never seen before. It also has a stamp on the gun saying UK. Do you know if they made this color on the DV1?. I've only seen silver or black colored ones.
Hi Buddy, it sounds like you have one of the caps they used on the A610 I had. They have now made them all the same , so a bigger pattern. You can get tip sets quite cheap. This should sort your problem out. If it's new, maybe it would be better to return it or ask for a different cap. The DV1 you have is a Chinese clone for $200. That's all it's ever going to be. The question is, is it any good ? Thanks mate 👍
Would be cool to see the r830 The Triggerman saids it's a pretty good gun. The Air Consumption is 3.0-3.9cfm most Definitely Bull**** but would be cool to test XD
Not to hijack your video but if your in the states and you want a Porphis 717 Ali Express has them for 203.00 USD free shipping . Tariffs will add 25% in January like that's not inflationary better get them soon and save.
I’m excited for the tariffs too ❤️ Here in the us we have sharpe finex and maybe they can get more business. They’re cheaper and even have replacement parts. We can grow our own food again. It’s time. Good things coming.

The spray gun "arena" is like many other industry arenas. There is no real innovation to be found, no leap in performance to be invented, the physics are well understood. But the industry has to keep "innovating" to keep selling new stuff to people, to keep the industry going, and a spray gun is not consumable. It's the same in the Archery industry....no innovation to be had, physics well understood, products at the end of their development. Same in the golf industry. It's all just industries trying to sell the same stuff in different ways to maintain themselves.
