    I once rode a 2023 GT that was a dealer loaner. I was only on it for about an hour and a half, but I thought it was a wonderful ride, except for the loud ticking noise, almost a knock, coming from the engine. A little research online revealed that a defective cam chain tensioner is standard at no extra cost, but no, Suzuki does not want to admit that every single GT sold will develop the problem after a few thousand miles. Why do the manufacturer's choose to stonewall on such obvious defects? No Suzuki's for me.

    I seem to be following you around bike wise at the moment! How much more comfortable did you find the MT10 over the monster? I've been using a tracer 7 for winter and solo touring but whenever I look at the tall riders I don't half find them noisy to ride at motorway speeds. So I'm thinking of buying the newer mt10 hoping that it still has the upright riding position of the Tracer for mountain roads but hopefully with a flycsreen keep the helmet in clean air! BTW, I may be considering getting a 1200s so if you would be interested getting your old one back at trade in price let me know. Cheers

    • @averagebiker
      @averagebiker 8 дней назад

      I loved the Monster, but I always felt it in my knees and shoulders after much more than an hour. The MT-10 is still cramped, but for reasons I can't quite explain it's really comfy. I actually found it more comfy than my GSX-S 1000 GT, despite the Suzuki being a much more roomy bike. MT-10 also sounds better and is more fun in my opinion... Oh, have you got my actual old one?! I'd love it back but couldn't afford another bike!

  • @saulocpp
    @saulocpp 14 дней назад

    Was it your first sports tourer? I know it is too late now and far from me teaching anyone their business, but your complaints about the long riding are common when coming from other styles. Sidebags sell because they are practical, but worthless on a SpTourer, all you need is a tank bag tall enough to lean/hug on it and but still read the dash (instant relief on shoulders/wrists), and maybe a backpack on the passenger seat. The weight must be at the front, going against the geometry of a SpTourer is a losing fight, no matter how much money you spend, and the dealer won't tell you that because they want to sell you shit.

    • @averagebiker
      @averagebiker 14 дней назад

      Kind of - I had a SuperDuke GT before that was more comfortable. The Gixxus GT is based on a super naked so I thought it might be similar to the SDGT, but it's less comfy. And yeah, trying to make the bike something it wasn't supposed to be didn't work! Selling was the right option for me - love my V-Strom now 🙂

    Funny, i kinda went the other way around. My main bike is/was my DR 650. Its a well equipped, heavily modded dual sport with loads of ability for all around riding. The one department where it sort of fails is in any kind of longer street miles over 60mph. It will do it, but that single thumper just works its ass off at those speeds and its not great for noise. Also requires a lot of attention and input as the bike is light ish and has a big front wheel that likes to swim a bit even with the best of tires. As the nearest city to me is over an 1hour, all hitting 75mph interstates for some duration, i needed a bike to manage that more safely and confidently. I got the GSXS1000gt for this job but its just so passive around town and the panniers are so nice, i find its just great for everyday round the town riding as well. Probably just going to end up throwing some dot knobbies on my DR and drive it more to the trails than to the city. I think both will be happy this way. BTW, im 6'5 and also find after some amount of time in the saddle my right hand gets a bit numb, im going to try some risers thanks to your suggestion and may try the lowered pegs. Otherwise bike fits me swell. Really pleased with everything about this bike. Exhilaratingly FAST when you want it to be, passive as a kitten when you want that, confidence inspiring all the way through. Quickshifter is just glorious. Really really pleased with it. I have found no issue with the saddle, but, you may wanna check out sergeant saddles as they have a nice one for this bike. My DR has a Sergeant saddle and id trust them to make a good quality product again. I can be on my dr for days without getting sore.

      I bought the comfort seat for the GX in the end - marginal improvement but far too expensive for what it is! But I ended up selling the GT - it just wasn't right for me so I have a V-Strom 800 DE now (can't remember if I said in this video) and it's a much better fit for what I want. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours - great bike for the right person 🙂

    Great video. I got the Suzuki center stand. I still haven't gotten it on the center stand without my little hack of rolling the rear tire up on a small wood block. It's cheating, but until I can get the correct motion to get it on the center stand, my cheat will have to work for now. lol. I uploaded a short about it. :) Having the center stand makes simple maintenance tasks much easier without a doubt.

    How is the 6th gear ratio for driving at a standard 80mph for USA roadways? As far as I can tell, we are in the dark ages of motorcycles, where political forces are colluding to stop motorcycles from having an overdrive gear (95 mpg gas mileage instead of 60 mpg). Sixth gear was never supposed to be a "passing gear." It's not a good thing when you have plenty of power in 6th gear, it just means the gearing is way too low. Soon, all motorcycles will have a functional tall windshield. And they will come with a super tall 6th gear overdrive, even on small enduros. The 1983 Honda XR500 had a super tall overdrive 5th. Why can't figure it out 40 years later?? In conclusion, I can't wait for the end of ultra low geared, zero wind protection, angular spaceship 1980's styled motorcycles.

    I've had the XE for a few years. I don't know if I agree with the power thing for most people but I personally agree. I think I just have a need for speed. 0-60mph is nice on this bike and it got pull all the way to 4th gear. Top speed with the limiter is about 114 mph but the true top speed isn't that much faster, no more than 125.

    It’s a fun road bike that can be used on off road by very trained riders. Very beautiful, not practical for touring. Not practical to tour on it with two people. Hard to be joyful on highway long miles, like every naked bike, it prefers the back roads. This Bonneville bikes have a beautiful design, all of them. And the big scrambler is no exception. In conclusion, this is not a jack of all trades bike. But it is a excellent second bike!

On the way back, it gained about 30% so was working fine. I was on motorways on the way down so going faster so not sure if that means less voltage available for ports. It might be worth giving some rider specific height and so on if you found it uncomfortable so people can get a gauge on if this might be good advice for them or not. To be honest the first people I've heard to not get on with comfort or lights and had probablems with paintwork. Not my experience of the bike after 12k mile and 2 and half years. Yes, the inner 3 Philips screws don't need to be removed. They hold the trim strip to the side fairing. I just did this on the RE version, much easier without the engine guards.😊

    I was coming down from a K1200s and looked at the Suzuki , was offered a rather good deal but ideally I wanted shaft/main stand and decided upon the RS , add a set of handlebar risers and I’ve found my ‘forever bike’ ❤

    Much difference than a cover?

      Yeah, much better - easier to access the bike, better ventilation and it never touches the bike like a cover does so the bike doesn't get as sweaty.

    I’ve got a 900 scrambler 2018 with 65 brake horsepower, Yes, there is wind blast and a five speed gearbox but they are long gears love it to bits, also got a Busa 195 brake horsepower no wind blast, but I have more fun on the scrambler.
