Bad roads > VStrom, Fast and good roads > GSX-S. I own a VStrom800DE and enjoy riding IT in the Black Forest Mountains ❤

Both are equally compromised. If you're not doing any off-roading i would just tour on MT10 since it's super comfortable.

The V-Strom does look like a great bike and I seriously considered it when I bought my GSX-S1000 GT. I think that I made a good decision for me but I wish that I had the money to own both.

Great comparison. I have a GSX 8S with a top box. Great around town and in the country. I agree the torque is very useable, feels bigger than it is, until you hit law breaking speeds. Strangely I have been thinking about a GSX S1000 naked. Why? I think the four feels more grown up and it is a cheap almost super naked. Hate the egos on the MT09. Based on this review, I guess you will tell me not to do it.

I sold my MT-09 after 2 weeks and bought an MT-10 - nothing wrong with the 9 but the 10 is just a phenomenal bike. I wouldn't get the GSX-S 1000 but if you like it, why not!

Funny, i kinda went the other way around. My main bike is/was my DR 650. Its a well equipped, heavily modded dual sport with loads of ability for all around riding. The one department where it sort of fails is in any kind of longer street miles over 60mph. It will do it, but that single thumper just works its ass off at those speeds and its not great for noise. Also requires a lot of attention and input as the bike is light ish and has a big front wheel that likes to swim a bit even with the best of tires. As the nearest city to me is over an 1hour, all hitting 75mph interstates for some duration, i needed a bike to manage that more safely and confidently. I got the GSXS1000gt for this job but its just so passive around town and the panniers are so nice, i find its just great for everyday round the town riding as well. Probably just going to end up throwing some dot knobbies on my DR and drive it more to the trails than to the city. I think both will be happy this way. BTW, im 6'5 and also find after some amount of time in the saddle my right hand gets a bit numb, im going to try some risers thanks to your suggestion and may try the lowered pegs. Otherwise bike fits me swell. Really pleased with everything about this bike. Exhilaratingly FAST when you want it to be, passive as a kitten when you want that, confidence inspiring all the way through. Quickshifter is just glorious. Really really pleased with it. I have found no issue with the saddle, but, you may wanna check out sergeant saddles as they have a nice one for this bike. My DR has a Sergeant saddle and id trust them to make a good quality product again. I can be on my dr for days without getting sore.

I bought the comfort seat for the GX in the end - marginal improvement but far too expensive for what it is! But I ended up selling the GT - it just wasn't right for me so I have a V-Strom 800 DE now (can't remember if I said in this video) and it's a much better fit for what I want. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours - great bike for the right person 🙂

GT for me :). I'm the kind of guy who keeps the motorcycle a long time, my VFR800X is 5 y/o and still perfect, but I would be tempted by the GSXS1000GT... Been 2 years of looking at that bike ahah. But there will always a newer and shinier bike... Next is the Honda NX1000 I guess. Anyway, nice video as always :)

Hence...bikes are totally a personal thing...im 51 years old, extremely underweigth for my hieght...1.75 m for 55 kg...i dont have any problems travelling around 350 km with a gsxr 600 2012 a full blown supersport...in my case i dont have that massive weight to carry on with the superlight weight sports bike...hence i dont experience any back/wrist pain or problems ecc...i repeat...im an old 51 years old extremely underweight guy.

Simply because I was testing a bike I wanted and I didn't like the look of the RE.
