You don't like that the A1 doesn't have the new AI processing chip? That's because the A1 was released in 2021, years before that AI chip first appeared. Same about the screen, you say "for whatever reason, Sony doesn't put good screens", but the A7R5 has a 2.1M-dot screen that can be articulated better than any other camera ... it's the best screen you can find on the market.

For me the Sony A7RV are the best overall Camera.

I bought this as my first lense. Man, the shots you got with it are amazing! I'm trying to figure out how you got your full subject in focus like you did. I'm loving this lense for portraits too.

I liked these tips. I am a complete beginner and my biggest challenge at the moment is getting my full subject in focus. I know about focus bracketing, but i haven't tried it yet. For now I'd like to attempt to get my subjects fully in focus without any postwork.

Shooting Peregrine Falcons with 200-600 with A7RV get very few tack sharp shots! My Son's Sigma 500mm f5.6 with A7RV nailed a lot more and much sharper!! the bottom line is the 200-600 on high speed is not really good!

A OM-1 can take the macro photography to the next level due to its automatic photo stacking. As a Canon shooter, I'm envious of the OM shooters fancy tools.

My 105mm Sigma beats your 90mm Sony lens

Really dig the lighting. I have issues with shadows. My work desk is in what should be my little dining room so there isn't much room to get away from the wall. It's just me who lives here in my little apartment so it is basically a office/studio with a bedroom, a bathroom and kitchen...hahaha The two lights I use are umbrella lights. I try to bounce them off the wall, facing away from me but I still get a bit too much shadowing in my opinion. Would probably be better with some diffusers on them but for one, I don't have any and two, I'm not sure how you would put them on an umbrella light. Maybe I will get some softbox lights to review someday 🙂 I have one really big one but it takes up a bit too much room.

Great video, very informative. Arent you supposed to hold your breath while shotting to reduce shake?

1 year later, did you have the chance to use any A7RV+90 macro combo? Did all the advanced focus algorithms work?

Why is your thumbnail a different camera?

I think for photography 600mm f4 is just the way to go. I'm 90% video guy, and videos are pretty flexible and I think the 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 is a better lens for video. I usually just keep it at 6.3. Also the other benefit in video is that you can crop if you have a larger sensor and still maintain pristine IQ in 4K video even if you push it all the way to an actual 1080p. Too dark? Go 24fps with 1/50s or even 1/40s if needed. I think the 600mm is brilliant and would love to have it, but I think 200-600mm would serve be good at the moment. But I would rather get the 400mm f2.8 for night wildlife filmmaking with the a7SIII.

I compliment my 200-600 with my 600 f4 however the 200-600 should not be un-derated for its versatility

Hey, I'm one of the guys that met you a St Vrain shooting Osprey. I wish I could afford a nice prime like that, but I think I prefer the zoom versatility IMHO.

As long as you have enough light for the 200-600mm, I can't really imagine a scenario that you'd need to dish out over $10k more for the 600 f4. If bokeh is an issue, just throw into Google photos and adjust background blur. voilà.

Thats so amazing. Beautiful examples. What white balance and saturation settings or profile did you use? How did you get the chrome yellow flower colour in the sunlight? Did you acquire it in the post editing? Because this lens is giving off yellow, like brownish to me.

I have always been a big believer in primes being the only way to go for my wildlife shooting. Couple of years ago I was using a 600 mm on my Panasonic GH5. My brother had the Sigma 150 to 600 contemporary. I had an adapter to fit it to my camera so borrowed his lens for part of that afternoon. At one moment my wife was standing on the outside of a fence and there were four horses standing on the other side of the fence. I was able to get a really nice close-up zoomed all the way into 600 mm of all5 heads, but then I remembered I could zoom out to 150 and did so. That’s when I was sold!...on these new super zoom, super telephoto lenses. I was able to get my wife and 4 horses fully in the frame by zooming out. It was a revelation moment for me and that amazing bargain of the lens, only $900. It has become my staple and I would not even imagine using a prime again unless I was working a specific project or it was supplied to me and it was the main lens needed for that particular project. Probably where a better-in-lower-light lens would be required.

Love the Amaran lights. I got one I use for primary or fill light and move it around the house as needed

some interesting ideas for lighting - and if you have a space with that much back ground, cool to implement. why does all YT creators lighting look the same? its either natural looking (rare) or the same two colour combinations, no diss, just curious question, i feel safe to ask. over the last few videos, i have felt something odd with your visuals though - i thought it was my eyes playing me up, but i took time to be intentional when i watched, feels like you have a camera on a gimble that doesn't know how to be still! or a gimble camera that is acting odd trying to track unsuccessful if you are getting editors to do that in post, they are overusing the effect, makes me feel like my eyes are having a fit!. its only a slight movement, but enough for me to notice. its distracting for sure, and takes ages for my eyes to settle back to normal after watching any of your videos. again im fairly new to you. you do you. at least you are creating, and i admire that, i'm stuck in hospital, again.

Hey there, Brian G Johnson. The setup looks nice with all the lights. Nice work. Recently bought a new camera the Canon PowerShot SX60 hs. This time it does have a port to connect a microphone. But sadly it has a recoding limit of 30 minutes.

Brian, I have an old 1080p Sony Camcorder camera, A ZV-1, And an Iphone 14 pro. These are my cameras. And none have really great features. They are all basically starter cameras. The camcorder is the oldest of the bunch. And I'm limited to 1080p on that camera. Plus its a pain to word with. The iphone 14 pro I have grainy 4k video in lower light settings. And very limited custom settings because apple locks the other settings down. And The ZV-1 is the best and newest camera. But it doesn't have a full frame or wide angel. Which means getting that good video is difficult and often requires hours of me trying different angels and positions just to find out that I can tolerate haha. But it performs best in lower light settings and has the better accuracies out of the other 2 cameras. I would love to buy another sony camera similar to the one you have but I'm waiting to see the prices come back down closer to earth so it is affordable for me. If ever I find a sale where the price is down enough I'll be sure to get out and start having some real fun. So far all I'm dealing with is a bunch of limitation. But hey I have to work with what I have. Meaning exhausting editing to get everything else right haha. I just recently got better mic's so my sound will be upgraded going forward. But lighting is still an issue. I don't have soft box's or anything like that. So I also typically have to keep messing around with angels of my 1 key light that I have along with any other lights I have in the room to get as close as I can to a very nice picture quality. I can't wait for my channel to finally start earning some revenue. It's going to enable so many improvements for the my channel that I simply can't do right now. Sorry for a long comment. But great informative video as always man! keep the videos coming and I'll keep watching!
