Awesome video with high production value. Keep it up. Would you make a video of the 600 F4? Like a review and compare it to the 200600? I'm currently using a A1+200-600 but I want to pull the trigger on that 600GM.
@@BrianGJohnsonPhotography Great I'm looking forward to that. Please do a real head to head comparison to show the difference in IQ and DOF in a controlled environment as well as out in the field
If I was just getting started, I think the A74 would be the way to go. It’s a great hybrid camera, has great auto focus, is 33 megapixels and does well with both photos / video. the cost is much more manageable… at 2500.
What’s your budget ? If you’re going for lens and camera 1500 and under get the a7iii and a Rokinon to match your still. If you’re tying to up your budget and want a body and price isn’t an issue. Get the a7V with a Sony 70-200
Can't wait to for the a9iii to be release and compared to the a1. It should be quite interesting to see what the new kid on the block brings to the table.
some issues though 24mp. northrups did a sharpness test and its not overly great for details. it also seems to expose darker vs a9ii at same exposure settings so i think while a9iii has some cool shit with 120fps and flash capability how often is someone really going to rattle off 120 because you will blitz your CF card and your pc. be way cool though . next issue is the extra price a9iii is at
Been paying a lot more attention to that histogram my friend. Also playing with exposing to the right. Seems to be a bit more challenging when the sun is out because you’re basically pushing the exposure in one particular direction. But without question histogram for the win!
The a1 is out of my reach I looked online and it’s a bit more than the a7rv I found I’m really stuck on what to choose, the a9II looks amazing too . Any suggestions
I am a beginner and want to start travel and wildlife photography should I get A9i/A7riii/A7iiior save more money to get A7iv. Should I get 70-200gm mk2 + 2x tele, 100-400gm and 200-600g please give me a recommendation?
I would focus on getting a lens with the actual telephoto capabilities you’ll probably want. That would be a lens of either 100 to 400 or the 200 to 600
Almost talked me into the A1, very convincing! It is crazy though that Sony wouldn't at least put a good screen on the A1 (let alone any of their cameras)!
Agreed my friend. I’m curious about that newer screen on the 8705. That’s one of the things I could’ve mentioned. Of course I could’ve mentioned so many things. It would seem that it’s impossible to get a video just right/perfect. Have a great day my friend
I doubt it for a while at least. I have been using my A1 since its launch and I have been periodically checking on its prices and stock. Still selling very well and I doubt its price will drop until we get closer to the launch of the new A1 mark 2 (or whatever it will be called).
Yes it is still a champ but it is now 3 years old. We know that the camera will have a successor but it did not drop in price so far. The same camera for the same price was a lot better deal then it is now. That is the reason why people follow the "rumors" about this equipment. If you are in the market for an A1 but you are not in a hurry, then you will most likely wait until the day it is on preorder and the exact moment that you can preorder the new camera you place the order. Even when you don't own an A1 and you really want to have that camera, then you know that it will drop substantial in price when the new version will be on the market. You might even buy a used camera for considerable less because some of the pro's will buy the new camera. That is how it always works for most high-end equipment. I am not in the market for an A1 but for a successor of the FX-3 and I follow the news for exactly the same reason as some might follow the news for the A1.
It's a completely different beast. Its electronic shutter takes 1/10th of a second to read the frame, compared to 1/250th of a second for the A1. IQ is very similar to be honest, the differences are marginal at best. And while it does have some smart tricks helping the autofocus recognizing the subject, it cannot compete with the 120 calculations per second for the A1 autofocus, with only 20 calculations per seconds. Not the mention the blackout-free EVF on the A1 for following the action.
I’ve been shooting the A1 since it came out. I upgraded from the A9x’s. I’m really happy with mine and with the firmware upgrade 2.02, while it doesn’t add the last features it’s now consistent menus with my A7RV and latest compact C bodies. I actually have two. Bought the second one slightly used at a great price. Take care.
The A1 isn't a problem for me in low light. what are your settings that you are using for your low light video on the A1 because there are plenty of slog 3 low light test showing the A1 beating the a7siii in low light up until iso 12800. I own both and I can tell you the A1 is not bad in low light. Even in photography.
thanks for sharing that, have been testing Slog3 and love the look. Still have not made the jump entirely. I will continue to test and I want to thank you for the nudge.
I have found AI's Gigapixel and Lightroom's enhance (their version of upsizing) feature to be a hit or miss. Mostly a miss if you want high quality images. There is still no substitute for focal length and megapixels.
You don't like that the A1 doesn't have the new AI processing chip? That's because the A1 was released in 2021, years before that AI chip first appeared. Same about the screen, you say "for whatever reason, Sony doesn't put good screens", but the A7R5 has a 2.1M-dot screen that can be articulated better than any other camera ... it's the best screen you can find on the market.
Awesome video! Quick and to the point. So close to pulling the trigger on the A1.
Thanks for the info and great pictures.
Thanks for watching!
can we get a detailed video on a1 vs a9iii ?
Thanks very good to the point review!
What if you would shoot the a7r5 with a lower pixel count would it be faster?
Awesome video with high production value. Keep it up.

GREAT CONTENT !!! THANK YOU…
Glad you enjoy it!
Nicely done comparison.
If someone is just starting out, can you suggest a cheaper one from Sony. Thank you just love the wildlife!

Get a used a9. I know it's from 2017 but it's still near the top of the game.

Totally agree this will be the first new, full frame camera from Sony with a brand new sensor. We haven’t seen one of those in a while.
some issues though 24mp. northrups did a sharpness test and its not overly great for details. it also seems to expose darker vs a9ii at same exposure settings so i think while a9iii has some cool shit with 120fps and flash capability how often is someone really going to rattle off 120 because you will blitz your CF card and your pc. be way cool though . next issue is the extra price a9iii is at
For me the Sony A7RV are the best overall Camera.
One thing I always tell people is to trust the histogram, not what you see on the screen! Shoot for the best quality data!
Been paying a lot more attention to that histogram my friend. Also playing with exposing to the right.

any news for a7r6 ? or too soon?
LOL!! I think so my friend.
Awesome info as always brother
Much appreciated
What would suggest for wildlife, I’ve been soo stuck on what to decide I can’t afford the a1 but I’m tempted with the a7r5
Why not pick up a used A1 if you can afford an A7R5
@@BrianGJohnsonPhotography that’s true I will have a look online

@@oggg4604 perhaps the A9iii, guessing that will be announced in the coming days (early nov).

I can't imagine why this camera wont be a wildlife champ. Can't wait for the price to drop after a9iii release but I wonder if that will happen.

The A7RV is better........not as fast on the electronic shutter but better overall image quality. Not to mention the autofocus is unbeatable.
