January Balcony Garden & New Year Channel Update
Love this!
Hi Jason, I have spoken to some artists in my studio. They are all into plants and botany in one way or another. One of them has an allotment at MontJuic. You should definitely visit that park and see the large 200 person allotment. Barcelona is a city of concrete so it is nice to have that park down the road (well, up the road, considering it is on a slope) from the studio. Just google “Montjuic extension of Font Trobada allotments” or “Community gardens of city park Montjuic”. I hope you go. And hope you make some contacts with whoever is in charge of the park or community gardens there. P.S. Barcelona, like the cities of Italy, is full of smokers so the air is hard to take at times, at least for me, a non-smoker. So, be prepared for that!
🎉🎉❤absolutely fantastic Jason, I truly hope that all the gardens continue to flourish. I really need to get my act together now with my garden 😅😅
Hi Jason, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your gardening adventures and how it has impacted not only your own life but also so many others. Gardening is such a healing thing to do, whether it's a tiny space or large space, community or private space. Hugs and blessings
Huge huge congratulations ... Well done! So happy for you. Like you said it's the opportunity of a lifetime but I believe that this is just the beginning. What an exciting journey ahead :)
I have much gratitude for the commitment and dedication of all involved in this project. I totally relate with your desire for your work to be a living "legacy." I am often approached for projects but struggle with the 'we did a thing' concept. It is truly inspiring to see the level of investment of the collective minds that got you and your needs. Best to you always in all your endeavors. It goes without saying, but you are a legacy builder. Journey on sunflower 🌻. I am here for it!
Beautiful garden in your balcony
Wow! Just wow Jason. My hat's off to you young man! You just keep me smiling from ear to ear as I follow along your journey. THIS is absolutely your calling bro. Go Get Them!!!🥳🥳🥳🤠
So blessed to have you showing the behind-the-scenes for these RHS garden shows! I love your overall focus on the urban gardening community and the challenges they face in being more green-friendly. Seeing the younger generation becoming so in-tune and passionate lets me know we will be in great hands. Many thanks for sharing your inspirational content.♥♥♥
The font employed for the video chapter titles is giving OG graffiti tag! (BTW I feel like Asics could be a good fit for future driving sneakers, they have shoes named after clouds ☁️!!!! Nimbus and Cumulus !)
See.. this is why I love you guys because you totally get it! I haven't heard of the brand before I'll look into them. Where are they based?
@@CloudGardenerUK they are originally based in Japan but are global now! I wear them for running - some of the technical shoes are quite expensive but they have reasonable models and the older styles go on sale when they release a new version!
🪴Happy Planting🌿
Thank you 💚💚❤️💚
Jason, watching your gardening journey has been incredibly inspirational. I'm writing in from Vancouver, British Columbia and my neighbourhood is currently going through a transformation from houses and low-rise apartments to 20 story glass towers. The loss of green spaces and street trees is very concerning to myself and my neighbours. Seeing how you advocate for urban greening and balcony gardens and the resources you create is so important and you are truly one of my heroes. Much love!
Feel free to pass on any of the information you get from my videos to help in your area too ❤ In my previous video sharing my new opportunity , I spoke about my research trip. I'm not just searching for answers to help Manchester. It is for all of us who live in the city, so once I have finished and consolidated my research, I would be happy to travel to you and meet your local leaders! ❤ I will mention that in my follow-up video later this week ❤️
Thanks for the very interesting and detailed insight❤. Good to see all the enthusiasm. The future is green.
Thank you for watching! I normally take you on tours of the flower shows so I thought it would be interesting to share a different perspective and seeing all the work that goes into making a garden. Fingers crossed, all this work will be a platform we can use to make our cities greener! 💚 Thank you for watching ❤️💚❤️💚
@@CloudGardenerUK Thank you for sharing and documenting. I enjoy your videos
I love everything about this. I wonder what do I need to do this kind of job? I recently subscribed. I am not in UK but any advice on how can I start a business like yours. Thinking to start with a gardening course in September
The full video has come out today.. so you can see the end result :) ruclips.net/video/YyxCBdId7PY/видео.html RHS Level 2 would be a good start. Perhaps volunteering at a local RHS garden would help too :)
Special thanks to the team of students. Not a single one of them study horticulture but are passionate about making our cities greener. They volunteered their own time to the project and had lessons with me each week for 2 months. They give me hope for the future!
If you enjoyed the video, don't forget to give it a like ❤
Lovely video, 🎉 Nice to see behind the scenes .
Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed seeing things from a different angle! ❤️💚
I know how blessed I am to live on the wonderfully rural / coastal island of the Isle of Wight . I did live in an urban landscape - first in Manchester , then Stockport....I really value your desire to make more green spaces within city scapes . ❤
Thank you so much! Hopefully, my work will lead to more people in our cities getting those same benefits you get to enjoy even though you're slightly more rural! As always, thank you for watching and for all of your support! ❤️💚💚❤️
This documentary not only gives a little perspective to what goes into exhibiting at a show, but it also shows the thoughts behind the concept. I set out to answer one question. How do we make our towns & cities greener? For me, it's about involving young people, engaging with horticultural retailers, developers & local authorities so that all parties benefit. What's next? Check out this video to find out how I plan to implement these ideas nationwide: ruclips.net/video/oGCCmCiDctg/видео.html
What kind of rudbeckia is the bare root? From my experience, Rudbeckia Hirta is the biennial and Rudbeckia Fulgida is the perennial.
Be careful, the slugs know where you live now!
I like the smell of petunias. ❤
Thx Good 👍, my microgreens are just like yours…not picture perfect 😵💫, but growing💪🏻

I put my 5g fabric in the freezer.
Oh, and i forgot to say, Congratulations! I am truly happy for you and can’t wait to see how your work progresses. Best of luck, Jason.
You can also look at Scotland. They too, are doing amazing things (and are closer to you than any of the places you mentioned).
I am in Barcelona now and am surprised at how little green space there is. Still, what trees they do have house many parrots and swallows, depending on which neighborhood you are in. Mountjuic area has a nice park as does the area where Miro’s museum is. I wonder if you have considered visiting or liaising with Ireland which is closer to you that all the places you mentioned. I think you would be impressed by their rewilding projects, though I am not sure the ones in the roundabouts make sense because any insects they hope to attract there are surely going to get splattered by the constant movement of vehicles.
The climate in the UK is forecast to match Barcelona's current temps by 2050.. So In interested in finding out what drought tolerant planting/water retention solutions they have come up with. Let me know if you see anything there I should look at! :) I would love to visit Ireland, there's quite a lot of similar work happening on verges/roads in Sheffield here in England too so I'll be showing you guys some of that work too! ❤️
@@CloudGardenerUK I had no idea about the expected climate change in the UK. I don’t think they’ll be ready for Barcelona’s climate. Mahn, it is hot hot hot. Now I understand the need for a siesta break between 2-4pm. Like in the UK, the buildings are not equipped with air conditioning and here they are so close together it is really hard to adjust to the heat and imagine, I am from Jamaica, where it gets very hot. Here in Barcelona they’ve come up a massive desalination project and are planning another. I just wonder what that does to the marine life. But of course, humans do not think of that when they mess with the oceans, rivers and seas. They just think, oh, it is not land, it is okay. I don’t really have any contacts. I am here doing an art project but I am always paying attention to the environments I visit and what nature looks like wherever I go. But if I meet any environmental artists I will be sure to ask them stuff I can pass on to you.
omg omg omg marry meeeeeee
Congratulations! I hope at some point you can also visit Belgium, greetings from Namur !
Thank you! I would love to visit!! 💚❤️💚❤️
Great ideas, I've made the liquid fertiliser this week. A little suggestion, voice too quiet and music too loud.
YES!!!! Oh excellent!
Jason! Huge congratulations to you. Knew you would do it. Such fantastic news. So, so pleased for you and your new future 🎉
Thank you Karine!! We had our first gathering today, connect & inspire. It was so inspiring meeting the new fellows & hearing what fellows from previous years got up to! I will try and do weekly vlogs updating everyone on my journey & findings 🥰
Will the pods look different before they hatch? Mine are doing nothing. They are in the greenhouse and it has been hot for weeks. Help! My tomatoes and other veggies are flowering
Fantastic news 🎉 The comments illustrate just what an impact you have already made. Big hug from Japan.
Amazing opportunity Jason! Looking forward to seeing how you can influence changes in our concrete jungles 🪴 I look out of my office window in Manchester every week thinking about the wasted rooftop spaces we could do so much more with!
Congratulations. What a great idea. As someone who lives in the inner city (Tottenham in north east London) I know just how important this kind of project is. Looking forward to seeing the results in future podcasts.
Thanks Jane! I'm visiting the woodbury downs development in Hackney today to investigate the greenspace and relationship with the developer there as a case study! If our towns and cities have to change & adapt to a higher population, then hopefully my research will help give us all some access to greenspace
Congratulations Jason!!!!!! Your passion for this is evident!!! So happy for you. Well done👏👏👏🙌!!
Thank you soo much!! ❤
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Tamar!! ❤️💚💚
Congratulations, epic news. I'm so pleased that we will be benefitting from your knowledge gained when you come back. How exciting.
I think that's the most exciting part.. not just going off to learn but the coming back and sharing my findings

Huge congratulations! The Churchill Fellowship is very prestigious. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Thank you! It's a long process qnd very competitive, not all who apply are succesful so I wasn't sure what the outcome would be. To have been selected on my first try, I am really proud! Thanks again.. I can't wait to take you along the journey with me ❤
What a wonderful opportunity ❤️ I can see what this means to you ! How wonderful that you've been successful. Fabulous 👌
Congratulations! Fantastic opportunity. Looking forward to your research and findings.

@@CloudGardenerUK I am really looking forward to your tourist vlogs and wonder what kind of entertaining adventures lie ahead from suspicious sheep to tight train schedule drama 😁. This is amazing news, well done!!
Thank you so much Paula! I can't wait to share my learnings with everyone! ❤️
