- I have a life changing opportunity to head to two continents to study green infrastructure with the Churchill Fellowship. I will be travelling across Europe & Asia to study.. How do we make our towns & cities greener? Whilst also studying the positives & negatives of eco tourism.
I will leave in September and the goal is to research policies, communites and infrastructure and return to the UK and use my research to implement changes to policy here in the UK.

I've been working so hard over the past few years to make some form of a difference and help reconnect people in the city back to nature. Hopefully, this could help me do that on a larger scale ❤
Hello Jason, I just had an idea - reach out to your contact(s) at the Churchill Fellowship and ask them about any possible contacts they might be able to provide. They gave you the fellowship so they will want to see you succeed. Again, best of luck.
They have plenty! I'll do an update video later in the week to explain the itinerary/planning process and share a bit more about the fellowship. I'min great hands and they are have an amazing support system :)
By the way, there is a sculpture here in Barcelona called “Cloud Cities”. It is an immersive experience, like being on your cloud balcony, in a way. I am afraid of heights so I only did the bottom part. If you have no health issues, you should definitely check it out when you are here. I leave end of July. When do you plan to travel here? Maybe we could have a coffee if you are here by then.

I was notified about 2 weeks ago! I will be vlogging & sharing interviews with architects, landscapers, communites, local leaders/government officals etc.

If you have a few free minutes look up the Duchemin IGA grocery store in the Ville-St-Laurent borough of Montréal. If they can do it in our climate, so can others. It's just a thought and maybe that concept has been widely embraced in Britain.

I am in Barcelona now and am surprised at how little green space there is. Still, what trees they do have house many parrots and swallows, depending on which neighborhood you are in. Mountjuic area has a nice park as does the area where Miro’s museum is. I wonder if you have considered visiting or liaising with Ireland which is closer to you that all the places you mentioned. I think you would be impressed by their rewilding projects, though I am not sure the ones in the roundabouts make sense because any insects they hope to attract there are surely going to get splattered by the constant movement of vehicles.
The climate in the UK is forecast to match Barcelona's current temps by 2050.. So In interested in finding out what drought tolerant planting/water retention solutions they have come up with. Let me know if you see anything there I should look at! :)
I would love to visit Ireland, there's quite a lot of similar work happening on verges/roads in Sheffield here in England too so I'll be showing you guys some of that work too! ❤️
@@CloudGardenerUK I had no idea about the expected climate change in the UK. I don’t think they’ll be ready for Barcelona’s climate. Mahn, it is hot hot hot. Now I understand the need for a siesta break between 2-4pm. Like in the UK, the buildings are not equipped with air conditioning and here they are so close together it is really hard to adjust to the heat and imagine, I am from Jamaica, where it gets very hot. Here in Barcelona they’ve come up a massive desalination project and are planning another. I just wonder what that does to the marine life. But of course, humans do not think of that when they mess with the oceans, rivers and seas. They just think, oh, it is not land, it is okay.
I don’t really have any contacts. I am here doing an art project but I am always paying attention to the environments I visit and what nature looks like wherever I go. But if I meet any environmental artists I will be sure to ask them stuff I can pass on to you.
Question: how did you select the destinations you have chosen to focus on? Singapore made immediate sense to me. Have you found the others to have extensive green space initiativea underway?
That's such a great question! Singapore was top of the list for obvious reasons but I not just interested in the bells and whistles there.
The others were due to lots of other factors like planting, culture & climate. I'll do a follow up video explaining the rationale next week as I am currently in the process of building the itinerary and will share that process with you guys too :)
