The firsy one was a £60 job atleast. Second one i would say £120 minimum. Its not only the time its the skill and tools people should be happy paying for. Its a specialised field. Pun intended. Well done lads. Youve got a good attitude and you deserve to ask more for your services.

I think pricing is a tricky one. There’s always going to be someone prepared to do it cheaper. As long as you’re covering your costs, have money to re- invest into the business and you’ve got some money in your pocket then that’s a good start.
I try to work on a rate of £30ph.

Hey guys. Thought I'd weigh in. I looked at that first job and when you said an hour and a half. Tonne bag of waste and for the amount of work. My thought was £65 if it's round the corner maybe £70 if it's within a couple miles. Ye I think for the amount of work at the second one your pretty bang on the mark. £90 looks about right for a short drive and 2 gardeners for near 2 hours doing that work.

I think your prices are a little low, but if you’re able to pay your bills, put food on the table etc and you’re happy then that’s all that matters.
However, I’d be looking at a minimum of £25 per man hour plus waste. Although I no longer charge by the hour, I’m set price for each customer but when pricing you still have an hourly figure in mind.

We had a slow start and I forgot the weed killer so that delayed me half an hour we would have been in and out within the hour. Also the customer asked if we could quickly run the hedge from over a bush that I didn't quite for which I did due to have an a slow day. This probably took 15 minutes start to finish. So there was a few setbacks so realistically it wasn't actually a very profitable job!

I question if these are actually viable for business use in terms of the amount of parafin or heating oil they use plus waiting for the thing to warm up etc.
I have one and wouldn't consider it for paying work although great for burning off seedling weeds on the allotment and similar.

@@paulf2529 I don't mean using it in the summer as it would take too much time and yes expensive but for winter garden tidy up on paths and gravel you you spend a bit longer on a garden. The burner saves you pulling out the weed through gravel paths. Weed killer only work if you have the right temperatures in winter it's cold.

Not hating at all, a full time legitimate employee costs a business £24k minimum a year. Around £120 a day ish before you’ve started working.
