  • In late Winter, I decided to show you my balcony garden Spring clean up. The vine weevils really did a number on the pots on my balcony garden. Here's a look at the operation I undertook to get my balcony garden back together again. We take a look at my balcony herbs and the effort it took to repot my container climbing roses.

This video was filmed about 2 months ago.. You know me guys, I care so much about wildlife so this was really difficult for me. However, I'm happy to say, I haven't sprayed since then. Yes, the pests are back but at a reasonable level. Now the temperatures are warmer, I'll be releasing some natural predators onto the garden soon and let nature run it's course!
If you enjoyed this video don't forget to like it & subscribe if you haven't already! 🥰

Another great video Jason, and your plants 🪴 are really coming on . I'll be starting my front garden soon, and there is a lot to clear up believe me.
There are 2 rose 🌹 bushes that are dear to me , and I pruned them in October last year. I got them to remember my mother 👩 , who I lost 2 years ago this April.

Hi! I work for a charity that has safehouses and we’re trying to start gardening in the houses but keeping it eco-friendly etc! Is this a homemade spray that you used? Want to garden without using any chemicals ☺️

    Auntie Liz 😊
Spring cleaning is always tedious. However, once it is completed it is definitely satisfying.

Thyme, Oregano and Chives are immortal. There are times where it looks dead, but it isn't.
We have a perennial patch of Oregano that lives outside in the ground in my home in the UK. Winter doesn't faze it.
I also have a few pots of Chives that survived a droughty Australian summer, swear I thought it was gonna die - we are getting some rain now in Autumn and it's taken off again.
I enjoy watching your channel from the other side of the world. I sure do not miss the pests that thrive in the damp UK climate - too hot and dry here for that.
Also, how are you getting slugs on the 18th floor?

The top of my mint plants were so moldy I was convinced it was dead but new shoots came up from the roots.

Yes, I feel your pain about using chemicals to kill pests, particularly as I hate killing things anyway. Sometimes it is just the lesser of two evils because, as you say, when the whole area is infested, it is an absolute nightmare.
Re: herbs; my old rosemary plant is looking tired and leggy, even though I cut it back, so I think it needs replacing. I haven’t done cuttings before, so if you have any advice, I would be grateful. Otherwise, I shall just cheat and buy a new plant 😮

Thank you for making me feel better. I learned so much about the pests over the past 2 years and I really admire them but I knew if I let that population continue there'd be nothing left in a month. It's happened before so this time I felt I had to step in 😅
Herbs: Rosemary is notoriously fussy if it's not an established plant. It's still early but you could always repot and put the old one into your struggle bus area. Then replace it with a new one in the meantime 🥰 I have just filmed a video taking rosemary cuttings & propagating so that's also another great option.

@@CloudGardenerUK that's amazing! I saw someone's else in the UK all died over winter. Could you tell me what you did to protect them from harsh frosts? Do you feed them? Be great if you could do a video just about them 😊
