MIKE'S AND GADI'S SHOUTING MATCH OVER GAZA
Vote in the comments! Which of us had it right?
While Israel is reeling from the drama of the hostage deal, Judge Yitzhak Amit appoints himself President of the Supreme Court. Minister of Justice Levin refuses to accept the brazen move. But all this pales - at least on this episode - in the face of a fierce, Israeli style, shouting match over the future of Gaza. And then there is, of course, Trump disrupting the accepted terms we use for discussing the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

TRUMP IN - HALEVI OUT
Просмотров 10 тыс.19 часов назад
Chief of IDF staff General Herzi Halevi resigned after a career that will be forever remembered as an abject failure. Gadi explains why so many - himself included - are breathing a sigh of relief, but Mike warns against judging Halevi motivation solely through a political lens. Meanwhile, Trump's first days in office still send mixed signals to Israel and the Middle East.
THE HOSTAGE DEAL: IS TRUMP ENDORSING BIDEN'S POLICY?
Просмотров 12 тыс.14 дней назад
The deal that Israel is now forced to accept is not very different from the one the Biden administration has tried to impose. Combined with the rise of the isolationist elements of MAGA, this may signify a worrying trend. But Mike is less concerned than Gadi is. Granted, he also had significantly lower expectations. Plus: turmoil in Israel's Knesset, and a new scandal involving the man designat...

CRISIS: NETANYAHU VS. THE BRASS

Mike, how do you want to destroy Hxmas if there are no innocent civilians in Gaza. They ALL ARE HXMAS!!!! The only way to do it is what Trump suggested and relocate them what most Israelis want but are afraid to say in order to not sound mean or worse. But we cannot live with people next to or inside Israel if their only goal in life is to kill Jews. That would be suicide and literally insane! Therefore relocation is the only viable solution. Anything else has failed and was tried already since Israel's resurrection.

Three of the issues which emerged from the intriguing debate are: (1) Why did the IDF adopt the "in and out" strategy in Gaza that it did ? I think it likely that this strategy rather than a "take and hold" approach was seen as the best way to limit Israeli casualties and increase Hamas casualties. If that was the advice given to the PM and he accepted it then Mike's hunch that the policy was not simply a failure of the IDF to do what it had been told it must do could well be right . Even more so if Bibi understood that the US admin would make life even more difficult if it thought Israel was going to hold territory on a long term basis ( whether or not Israel was justified in so doing ).Gadi's claim that Israel did not want to share its plan with the US seems to mirror that concern but if so then Bibi's acceptance of the problematic hostage deal points to an abandonment of that secret plan. (2) Gadi's view that Israel taking Gaza (or some part of it ) on a permanent basis would act as a deterrent against further attacks against Isreal has, it seems, gained quite some currency in Israel and not simply from the Smotrich/ Ben Gvir elements. I think it would be instructive to hear whether there is any empirical / historical support for this view and for the panel to discuss this dramatic idea in depth including whether such a course remains open to Israel as a practical matter having regard to the recent hostage deal and the US's and other powers' likely positions. On the one hand Israel's victory in the 1948 war and the 1967 War did not deter further attacks but on the other its failure ( because of US pressure ) to retain territory in the 1956 War and its departure from Lebanon did not achieve peace either; the Peace Treaty with Egypt is in a class of its own and could be thrown into the discussion as well. (3) Iran's abilty to seriouly damage Israel is not soley a product of its Hamas proxy. Changing facts on the ground in Gaza will not impede the Iranian nuclear weapons program ( Mike's point ) and ironically destroying Iran's nuclear program, however desirable and necessary, will not end Israel's problems in the region ( Gadi's point ). At least Israel's limited success in weakening Hamas politically in Gaza has not prevented it from changing the landscape to Iran's disdavanatge.in Lebanon and indirectly in Syria.

What a fantastic debate between Mike Doran and Gadi Taub on IsraelUpdate20250128! By raising the energetic quotient of the conversation, you have inspired me … no you have aroused me, out of my customary indolence, to respond. I have been mulling in my mind a response to several of Caroline Glick’s recent InFocus interviews, which, in respect to the content of the conversations cause my blood to boil, but because the conversations are conducted in such a genteel manner, I haven’t been compelled to leap headlong into the fray. So, thank you both for your passion, and an extremely informative debate. But to the point. Rather than analyze the pros and cons of each argument put forth, I think it would be more useful to move straight to the crux of the issue, and solve it. That, obviously, is what should happen in Gaza after the Israeli operations have ended Hamas’ military control. Fortunately for us, a clear plan for a political solution in Gaza, which Mike laments is missing, is in fact already fully worked out, and with the support of the Trump administration, can be quickly implemented to bring permanent resolution to this conflict. By the way, the solution is one that both Mike Duran and Gadi Taub, as well as Caroline Glick, are familiar with, although I never hear them mention it. Nonetheless, there it is: a perfect solution that has been thoroughly studied and worked out by … well, by at least one of the greatest minds to address the problem. Now at this point, if by some miracle Mike, Gadi and Caroline were to read this comment of mine, I would love to know what each of them would guess that I’m referring to. I’d guess that at least one of them would guess correctly. Anyway, since I can’t really, for the sake of increasing the suspense, drag out this delay much longer, I’m just going to tell you the solution as I see it, and only then give credit to the genius that worked it out. -1- Israel announces that it is going to annex all of Gaza and Judea & Samaria (the West Bank) to the state of Israel. (Finally, from the river to the sea Israel will be Israel.) -2- Simultaneously, Israel announces that it will be accepting applications from Arab communities currently existing on these lands to form tribal-based sovereign city/states (in Arabic emirates) for those communities willing to sign specific Peace Agreements with Israel. Israel then grants land to those emirate city/states in perpetuity, provided they don’t breach the Peace Agreement. -3- The Peace Agreement which each emirate city/state signs with Israel stipulates that they recognize Israel’s existence and that they wish to live in peace (and prosperity) along side of Israel, that they renounce terrorism in all its forms and will not permit terrorists (such as Hamas) in their midst, that they will not allow military weapons in their territories (other than those for personal protection, like hand guns), that they will not permit tunnels to be built, and that they recognize that Israel will maintain security forces in all areas not granted to individual emirate city/states, and recognize that the IDF may intervene if necessary to stop terrorism. -4- With the Peace Agreement, Israel recognizes the sovereignty of each emirate city/state, allowing the citizens to form their own government and handle all civic affairs other than military, which ultimately belong to Israel, since all emirate city/states are within the boundaries of Israel proper. -5- Israel will allow all permitted emirates to affiliate in a federation, modeled on the States of the United States, linked by transportation and communication networks, thereby creating a “Palestinian State”, which can maintain airports, sea ports and other collective endeavors among the emirate city/states. Well, I guess this is enough for starters. As you can imagine, there are myriad details to be worked out. For me, the reservations for Native Americans in the U.S. serve as a rather imperfect model … imperfect because the citizens in the emirate city/states are not granted Israeli citizenship, as was done in the U.S. Also, it is clear that Israel will undertake financial programs to help build and establish the emirate city/states, in order to cement the success of those Arabs who voluntarily agree to be friends and good neighbors of Israel. But there is one last issue I’d like to mention before concluding, especially since it was at the heart of the disagreement between Mike and Gadi. It is the question of how many Gazans support jihad and the terrorists. Whatever the number, under this solution, there will be one additional community among the emirate city/states, and it will be a prison for those Arabs who refuse to make peace with Israel. Not an open air prison, but unlike ordinary prisons, the inmates can leave at any time, provided they leave the country and never return. Finally, I wish to recognize the genius of Mordecai Kedar, the Israeli scholar who laid out the foundations of this plan many decades ago. Thank you Professor Kedar! I predict that you will bring peace, not just to the Middle East, but to our human globe. Francis Li Goodwins oloren1@fastmail.fm

Trump 45 foreign policy - good guys win, bad guys lose. Biden foreign policy - bad guys win, good guys lose. Israel turned the table on Biden's plan. Trump 47 overall policy - good guys win, bad guys lose. We see this domestically. Internationally the ceasefire deal which Hamas is celebrating gives them a win for playing God with the tortuous release of hostages, staying in power, and the release of thousands of murderous terrorists in Israeli prisons to Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem. By forcing Israel to accept the Biden plan (bad guys win, good guys lose), Trump has setup a terrible situation.

The Allies fought a righteous war the Israeli’s are not allowed to be thought of as fighting such a war even though they are. These things are much making the odds against Israel winning so much higher. I love the back and forth between you two.

I think you are giving too much credit to the international community. At the end it was only 4 big countries that decided what will happen with Germany and Japan and that was the USA, the UK, Russia and France. And most countries were hostile back then towards those 4 allies. Now we have the US on our side and more Arab nations than you think. They all hate the palestinians, they do not care for the palestinians at all. The Arab nations are just afraid of Iran, Qatar and Turkey. So if those 3 will be weakened, the Palestinian proxy won't matter anymore, as they were just a proxy to wage war against the West and Israel was and is the gatekeeper of Islamism that does not allow it to overrun the West.

Doron is so annoying, omg 🤦‍♂️ he doesn’t understand jihad, totally misunderstands Islam, and so stubbornly refuses to just listen and learn anything new that may shatter hus rosy American worldview… ot drives me desperate when I listen to him. I wish I could talk to him and try to explain it to him instead of cursing the screen in vain, because I’m afraid, Dr. Taub doesn’t do a good job communicating these key concepts 😹 it has to be done in a more mathematical way, and first of all, ge needs to understand the difference between the German Nazis and Islamists, and the difference is right here, in the wording: German Nazis… remove Nazism, and you still have Germans, German identity, German culture… in Islam… every culture that undergone Islamization hage lost its original culture and replaced it with Islam. Islam became their only identity, and Islam, not some mythical “Islamism” is the equal of Nazism in our equation. remove Islam - and you have nothing left, void. no identity, no culture, nothing to fall onto. it has to be replaced with something. but in case of Fakestinians, there are two layers of this peculiar Nazism: Fakestinism on top of Islam. so, you need to get rid of both of them in order to de-radixalize this population. but then you are left with a bunch of angry, uncivilized human beings stripped from any kind of group identity whatsoever :) this is why de-radicalization of Fakestinians is so much more fictional and impossible as a task than their relocation elsewhere. when you understand this issue, you understand that relocation is so much more humane and also easy, despite all the complications. Fakestinism is Nazism, Islam is Nazism as well, and also imperialism based on supremacism, like in Imperial Japan… the problem and the difference is that Fakestinians are neither Germans, nor Japanese… remove these ideologies from them, and you have nothing underneath.

Their dispute is insoluble because one area of thought in which no progress has been made is understanding the relation of collective ideas and action. All we have are the simplistic models of neo-Marxists, based on Gramsci and the Frankfurt School. Historically there have been very many collectivities that have disappeared but very little scholarship on how and why they disappeared as a general phenomenon. Will the so-called Palestinians end up in the dustbin of history? They have no distinct language or culture, except for dependency and hatred. Since we dont know, the pragmatic approach is to do what Mike says and focus on destroying the organization. Kudos again for a spirited attempt to be as sane as possible in very insane circumstances.

I truly enjoyed this argument, it’s the one I’m not having because I’m too polite… It seems to me that the problem is both of you still believe in some kind of peace 🫢

Mike is a nice guy - intelligent, loves Israel, etc. My son Matan did a podcast with him last time he was in Israel. The problem is that Mike doesn't fully understand Islam. It's not just a religion - it's a political system and encompasses every facet of life. He also doesn't understand that there are no innocents in Gaza - it's either them or us.

Hilarious. When Gadi was on Caroline Glick's show, I agreed with her. Now, Mike, who I usually disagree with has turned Gadi into Caroline. If Mike advised Bush from 2005-2007, that explains a lot.😂
