Very interesting to hear the broad historical perspective, great interview David! Also nice to have an episode without Mike Durant (of the Hudson Institute) :)
The guest makes a wonderful point about asymmetric warfare, how Hamas or Iran or others can easily get weapons off the shelf and attack Israel. His error is his thinking is driven by fear. The reality of easily accessible weapons should lead one to see that the only long-term solution is peace and compromise. Under the guest's scenario, Israel will never be free to live in peace. We need new leaders, both the Israelis and the Palestinians. Things which seem impossible now will not be if we have forward thinking leaders. Of course, that's a big "if."
at 35:40 gadi says the worst thing is to allow the Iran regime to develop nuclear weapons. Aside from regime change, exactly how could this be achieved? And if the means for régime change is supposed to be destruction of the Iranian oil industry, what would the Chinese response be? Wouldn't they move into Iran to support the government with SAMs and fighter aircraft? Iran supplies China with a lot of oil and is a major stop on the belt and road. Still, it is perhaps the least worst alternative.
Gadi says that bibi couldn't operate openly and significantly against iran in the past because, in part, the public wouldn't support it. Gadi also says the public is "savy". Which is it? Doesn't bibi deserve some blame for not educating the public? Churchill, Bibi's hero, spent the 30s in the political wilderness trying to educate the public about the threat of Hitler
What a great interview! Had I you are such a pro! And the overview picture you have given, is of the majority of the Israeli population! Thank you! I’ll send it to my American friends to get the picture of what’s going on in Israel ! ❤
The American view of the current situation in Israel is starkly different than it was on October 6. The American population has very low confidence in Israeli leadership as we do with our own leadership. Proceed with caution.
Israel does not need your confidence. Israel need the US to stop blackmail, not to obstruct supplies stipulated by previous agreements, stop anti-Jewish incitement in America and funding Jewish leftists in Israel.
Gadi - I'm looking forward to you doing a deep dive article on your thesis comparing 1956, 67, war of attrition and 73 with today. It would also be interesting to see you and Doran discuss Eisenhower and Kissinger. IMHO, many US pro Israel Jews have an unfairly negative opinion of him.
America now is the worst enemy of Israel besieging it on every front and venue. Israel finally realized how vicious and perfidious are jihadists in WH who are totally allied with Iran and work tirelessly for Israel's demise.
I was a bit taken aback at the story of the mother who declared her 'pride' after her son fell in Gaza. Reminded me of the pride palestinian mothers take when their children become 'shahids'. Too sad...
Thank you so much for this interview! So precious information! God bless you. Am Israel chai!

11:15 If only there was a Jewish story in the Bible that specifically applies to this.
God bless Israel 🇮🇱💟💪🇮🇱🇮🇱
Good point by interviewer contrasting the conventional threat of Nasser with soleimani's "ring of fire" asymmetric threat.
With Biden stepping down from running for President in 2024 I think Bibi saw it as an opportunity to act on his own.
Remember these words, and please don't remove my comment. I will come back and comment after the Iranian attack. OK?
