I'm an Australian landscape photographer based on the beautiful Gold Coast. I'm so lucky to have many diverse and wonderful environments not far away: from bush to beaches, rainforests to waterfalls.
It's my quest to share the beauty I find in the natural world, whatever the conditions. We can't all travel to every inch of the globe, but at least I can bring the inches I traverse to people who would otherwise never get to experience them. And not every day is going to bring epic conditions, but that doesn't mean there aren't images to be made and experiences to be enjoyed.
So come along on my journeys to experience the successes and the failures; the amazing weather and the dull; the epic and the intimate.
And all the music in my videos fits so well because it's lovingly made by my talented partner Danny Lapthorne.

Exploring the Lake District

Despite my mega rant, we had 4 incredible days in England's Lake District...well, some days had more incredibleness than others. There was a huge amount of beauty, but also some ugliness, moments of exhilaration, and also a complete lack of inspiration. The Lake District was a mixed bag for Danny and I, but I reckon we came out ahead in the end... 🎥 *Video Chapters* 🎥 00:00 Intro 01:43 Day 1 07...

Is this the BEST way to carry your Camera?
They say patience is a virtue Lisa and you and Danny had it in abundance - it was so worth it. Gorgeous images and another fantastic video 👍
Nice. I think 06:14 worked very well 🙂👍
Man you and the weather gods! It is the mountains though so weather changes quickly. Stunning views.
The fog really made the pano - it gave the mid-ground the separation it needed. Vans and cars disappear like magic!
So wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing with me!
Lovely shots, good job on van removal!
Spectacular, an apt name by Danny "Rivendell" I was expecting to se Galadriel appear from woodlands. Beautiful photos , you must have taken 100s ,
I can see why you titled that newsletter back in November as the Best holiday of your life.. spectacular locations and mountains to be in awe of , autums colours that pop withot a polariser... just wow. When Danny said here we are in Rivendell you had to believe him.. the clear blue waters going through that place looked stunning. What a gorgeous place to stop and have a rest . Lovely watch. atb Al
Am I hearing Danny's new compositions in this video Lisa? I think I made a commitment to send you one of mine if Danny used one of his new comps in one of your videos. Enjoyable watch, as always. Are you sporting new glasses? I'll be wearing new specs myself soon, they should be here before Christmas. 5:26 in, beautiful!! All images of the church and mountains were gorgeous! 8:23 in - "This place is turbo." I'm not pickin up what you're droppin with that phrase Ms. Lisa. And how it relates to polarization. 🤷🏼♂ Images of the creek/river were gorgeous as well!
Not a new song in this video, though the song Currumbin is one I don't use that much, and I don't know if I've ever actually used that version of it before, so it probably sounds like a newie. There was actually a new song 2 videos previous to this - in the morning when we were up over Berchtesgaden. Danny's in the process of making another one too - I believe it's all recorded but he's not mixed it yet - Christmas seems to be getting in the way! Yes, I did finally get some new glasses once my eye eventually got back to (mostly) normal at the start of this year. The colours of that forest were all very brightly saturated (turbo) - adding polarisation made them look so over-the-top saturated as to be unnatural. Thanks TC!
My patagonia jacket seemed to become much less waterproof after I very carefully followed all the waterproofing instructions. Is that a scam?
Your patience paid off waiting for the fog to lift. Such a beautiful view.
Thanks so much Jay. Yes it was well worth being out for!
What fun watching you start off in the dark and then seeing the stunning final images you came up with! I could almost feel your cold fingers! Yes, persistence paid off and super editing too. Thanks for not rushing and letting us feel like we were right by the beautiful river with you!
I spent a lot more time just sitting and enjoying that river than I normally do when out with my camera - such a lovely place! Thanks so much Juanita, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers for letting us to follow. In your opinion, were the colours better then in UK. And also how to they compare with home colours. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Roy! The colours were probably a bit better than we experienced in the UK last year, with the exception of Padley Gorge, but a lot of the Alpine forests were a mix of evergreen and deciduous, so it's difficult to make a direct comparison. By the end of the holiday most of the autumn leaves had fallen, so they certainly turned sooner in the Alps. We really don't have any deciduous trees where we live, so everywhere is better! 😁
Well it looks like you’ve both had a wonderful time and visited some fantastic locations. Shame about the wind though, it seems as if it’s becoming the norm here. Even today it’s 44mph with grey skies and heavy rain.
Thank you so much Barry. Yes, we had a fantastic time, not just in the Peak District, but during our entire holiday in England and Wales. Thankfully I think we only had that one day of super windy, so were quite lucky.
Nice video, but what is the deal with the music? There is supposed to be a new song. In your first video from the Alps, whats'-his-name said there would be a new song. Where is it? I am disappoint.......
You're such a dag! 😂
Very nice 🙂👍
Thanks so much Stig!
Stunning spots. So beautiful. Looks like a ripper trip. Love that valley of waterfalls.
Thank you so much! The trip was fantastic - there is so much more from it to share!
Some absolutely wonderful images in there Lisa - what a gorgeous location, a photographers dream. Thank you for sharing this with us :-)
Yes it sure is a stunning area - I could have wandered along that stream for days! Thanks so much Graham 🙏
wonderful
Thank you!
Mind blowing scenery. Such wow photo opportunities. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Roy! Yes, it really was something...and there's lots more to come too 😁
For the first couple of minutes as you walked through that stunning gorge, I wondered how you'd get an image without people - but you managed nicely. Then, later, I could see you met up again with your old friend - the rain!
Just needed a bit of patience...had to let an entire school group go past first! 😄 Haha yes we got a bit of rain, but not nearly as heavy as in the previous video. And because I went out and bought a new rain jacket on the way back to the hotel (as my old one wasn't doing the job), it was of course very nearly the last rain of the trip! 🤣 Thanks David!
That "stunning alpine stream" sure didn't sound very peaceful. But it were indeed beautifully peaceful. Stunning photos Ms. Lisa (minus the walkway).
Thanks so much TC!
Once you had got away from the tourist track the atmosphere and mood and scenery looked fantastic... loved the image at 4:48 but the standout was that scene at 7:26.. stonking as we would say. Great filming Danny boy ☺👌 atb Al
We had an entire school group squeeze through the gorge while we were there too 😄 The gorge was spectacular, but I do always like it best when we get time to ourselves. Thanks so much Al!
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you so much Jay!
Hi Lisa, what fantastic atmospheres and pictures! You sure know how to capture both and seeing it through your eyes gives a whole new perspective. Thanks for taking us with you 😊
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
So beautiful! Thanks so much for letting us tag along! BTW: How did you create the tree logo in your intro? I would love to do something like that for mine. (should I get around to making another video)
Thanks so much Jon! I made it in Adobe After Effects...I have absolutely no memory of specifically how though - I think it's the one and only time I've used After Effects 😄
@LisaFrostPhoto Thanks. I guess I need to get Adobe PS/LR for my edits in place of just using my iPhoto editor.
Such an interesting blog, love the water cascading down, such nice colour. Thanks for the calendar, beautiful.
So glad you enjoyed the video Roy, and the calendar 🙏 Thanks so much!
The name Roseberry Topping derives from Othenesberg, Old Norse for the hill of Odin, named by the Scandinavian invaders. The initial “R” arose from the village of Newton-under- Roseberry, with alliteration of the “r” of “under”. Toppinn is Old Norse for hill. This became Anglicised into Topping.
Thank you for the explanation of the origins of the name. It's interesting how much names can change over time. Hill of Odin seems fitting. Thanks Barry!
This was great!!! Liquor tastings in the rain look like a good day to me 😂
Got Danny to thank for that one 😄 Thanks so much Emma!
Simply beautiful! Do you have any idea of what the ugly fence was for? Thanks for sharing your adventure with me. Great stuff!
Not sure why they added the fence. Vehicles can go up the road, and just as we were about to leave a garbage truck went up there, so maybe it's to ensure nobody drives off the road...? Glad you enjoyed it Jon, there's heaps more to come. Thanks so much!
This might be the crappiest video on landscape photography I've ever encountered here on YT. Good location though. But I hope you guys will improve.
You've obviously never watched any of my other videos as I've got a lot crappier ones than this! 🤣
I will mentally prepare myself for maybe another episode
The bridge at the river was too big shame on you, when the mountain was windy I had my own helicopter hat at home I could use to fly away in the winds such shame! but at night with the tree in forest on forest i had the bootlers at time 9:30? the world is infinite and so much tree in the tree land of moon skylight ceiling fans!
But everyone knows that seagulls are the worst...
Wow this is some really good skibity toilet Ohio imposter sussy Rizz
Don't lie to me Walt, you sussy baka!
Seeing you shooting in the rain reminds me of another time & place..lol. Well done Danny on scouting out the place for you to shoot.. he a good egg. I laughed when you mentioned the water colour... peaty brown rivers seem to follow you on holiday shoots, along with the rain..lol. Btw, lovely sunrise and those mountains must look super in real life.. massive I wouldnt wonder. Loved the schnapps tasting session.... don't think you did that with the Penderyn Whisky last year? :) Curiously we have had very little rain for ages - I was up in the Elan Valley (Md Wales) a few days ago and the dams are incredibly low. See you at the next episode. atb Al
When I was editing this video it was reminding me about our day on the Elidir trail too...though this day was even wetter...was absolutely chucking it down the entire time we were out. It unfortunately brought about the end of my boots...I think last years holiday and all the rain was the main culprit, but then I didn't wear them again until this day (they're generally too big and hot for Australia) and the soles on both boots half fell off during the walk (lucky I had my gators on!) Was going to try to fix them but the rubber was all starting to perish, so alas they got left behind (which did handily leave room in my suitcase for all the liquor we bought 😄) Hahaha yes I do get a bit of brown rivers...there's another one coming up later in the trip too! We only had rain on two other days of the trip though, neither as wet as this - the rest of it was dry and lots of sun. Also they don't seem to have mud in the Alps! My hiking shoes came home cleaner than when we got there 🤣 Yes the mountains are enormous...there's even bigger ones coming up towards the end of the trip. It's incredibly awe-inspiring. Glad you appreciated our liquor tasting 😄 No, I think all the Penderyn tasting was done back at our B&Bs. It never would have occurred to me to take the schnapps for tasting in the rain, so we have Danny to thank for this one 😁 Thanks so much Al!
Beautiful Bavaria! You got some great images!
Thank you so much Juanita! 🙏
Great to see you got T shirt weather, bracing we call it in the North. Winter coats are still packed away. 😊 you embraced it though and created some excellent shots.
Just got to take the weather that is given to you 😁 The light at Malham Cove was worth every drop of rain 😊 Thanks so much Barry!
So at the beginning I thought 'Really, no Australian content again' but then ... Wow!! That mountain light! Just fabulous. And some of the shots by the lake at the end were quite lovely too. (Sigh!)
Heads up that while I will get out for some local stuff here and there, there's a lot more stuff to come from the Alps. The good news about that is we explored some really amazing places. It might not be Australia, but it was all very different to the UK...I'd go so far as to call some of it epic, and that's a word I don't normally use as it gets thrown around too much. Thanks so much Peter!
I subscribed for your Australian photography. I miss it so much.
The bad news is there's a lot more to come from the Alps. The good news is I will get out for some local stuff too...may be a few weeks away though.
@@LisaFrostPhoto You don't have to share everything in the order of creation and you could run local and foreign content in parallel, one midweek, the other weekend. It might be interesting to see whether one rates better than the other.
That sunrise gives one the goose-bumps
Yeah it was pretty awesome to experience
That bell ringing!! Why so long? 😵💫 Once it quit, I really enjoyed the rest of the video. 💜👍🏼💜
"I don't know hia name, but his face rings a bell !!!"
Oh dear! It was part of the experience - first one church rang out then the one next door. Not to worry - no more bells for the rest of the trip 😄 Thanks so much TC!
🤣🤣
@ Those bells have been ringing in my ears for days now! 😂😂😂
Another great location with some great photos. Personally, I find liquor tasting an important part of any trip. Nice job of it.
Hahaha I'm glad you can relate 😄 Thanks so much Terry!
Amazing photos, loved that sunrise it's one of those that keeps on giving. your effort in the forest certainly paid off, a real team effort🤩
The sunrise was an amazing experience (if short-lived). Thank you so much Richard!
You two should make more travel videos. Between the beautiful photos, you and Danny could engage in the kind of banter you did in this video. I loved it!
Luckily for you there's a lot more from our time in the Alps to come 😁 Thanks so much Jay!
Hi you two, always amazes me what locations you discover and the length you go to to get to them. Thanks once more for taking us along 😊
Thank you so much 🙏
great vlog Lisa you show me something different every time i watch, keep it up your enthusiasm is infectious.
Thanks so much Geoff, glad you enjoyed it 🙏
