Hey Lisa! I did find myself laughing, yes at you! But only because you called them out and because it's so relatable. We all have days like that. Keep the smile and we'll keep watching. Cheers!
I would’ve turned around and went back home once I saw all the other people there. The photo of the colored rocks in the creek at the end of the video was the best I think. There’s been times that things didn’t go as planned, but it’s all part of the movie. 💜💜
Haha it wasn't too bad when I first arrived, because I was early, but before long more and more people kept turning up 😄 Yeah, that was my favourite photo from the day too...made me realise just how sharp that lens is too. Thanks so much TC!
In a previous life, we had a saying. Days are like landings - every one you walk away from is a good one. Day in the bush, got some pics, had a laugh at yourself. No fails. Love your channel. I learn something from every video you post. Note to self. Never try and open a meusli bar while being filmed.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Geoff - giving people a laugh definitely means the day was no failure 😁 Are you a pilot? Yes there's always a lot to be grateful for. Thank you so much! 🙏
You failed to get FAIL OF THE CENTURY in that you went out anyway. I enjoyed listening to your appearance on Photography Connection. Thanks for doing that. It was great and I am sure that it was an honor to be chosen for that. It shows that you are really doing well with your photography. Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
I'm so glad you heard and enjoyed it! Yes, it was so lovely for Kim to have me on, and I feel particularly honoured that regular viewers put my name forward to her. Thank you so much for your support Jon!
Thanks so much for sharing this video. Wish folks would share bad days like this more often as it lets everyone know we are all human. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves as we struggle through days like that. You did get a couple nice shots.
Thanks so much David. I always appreciate seeing peoples bad days, so enjoy being able to share mine...and if it either gives people a laugh or makes them feel better about their own bad days then it makes the fails all worthwhile! 😊
I felt like I was watching myself, some days are so tough but it's worth it. I visited Colorado last week, dropped my Canon R5 twice, was so blessed it did not get damaged. Excellent video despite the fails.
Losing your footing, sliding down a steep embankment, and breaking the only lens you have with you would be considered a fail. Been there and done that. I think your images turned out great despite such bright, high contrast conditions. That proves you have mad skills with a camera. 🙂 Loved the video.
No injury to myself, but I did tear my jeans, and broke the mounting ring on the lens. I ordered the parts and was able to fix the lens myself. As for the jeans? Even my wife's sewing skills couldn't repair them.😄@@LisaFrostPhoto
You’re miles in front of Mr Heaton when it comes to vlogging in public. I’m not one to usually laugh at other’s misfortunes but after everything else that happened, when you got your foot stuck I had to chuckle, stupid problem to have. Regardless the photos turned out ok considering the relatively crappy conditions. Also congrats on 2K subs, yahoo!! Cheers.
Haha yes you're probably right 😄 Oh that's the exact thing that made me laugh out loud and decide that the fails were going to be the subject of the video 🤣 And it being so silly was also what I was thinking at the time 😁 Thank you so much Brad!
Hi Lisa, what fail! a nice walk along a beautiful little creek on a nice day! You have also successfully given yourself a challenging editing session to stimulate the grey matter. It's also good to see lots of other folk out enjoying the wonderful scenery in your area (even if they are a bit hard to work around when taking photos/videos), your blogs are probably helping to promote this. Keep on smiling and snapping!!!
It was all fun in spite of all that went wrong 😄 I must admit I was a bit tired by the end of the day, mostly thanks to forgetting the ball head, which made the video shootinf about 10x harder than it needed to be, but I enjoyed the editing of it all 😁 Thanks so much Barry!
Just a few words of appreciation for your perseverance in the face of some rather trying events, Lisa. You handled them with great humour and poise. I quite enjoyed the photos - the last in particular - and your newly-created nose-cam was not to be sneezed-at. 😉 I arrived home to find my calendars arrived: they are gorgeous, and beautifully produced. The recipients (my sister and a much-loved friend) will enjoy them immensely.
Hahaha you're very punny! 🤣 I'll probably try not to do angles like that again though 😄 I'm so glad your calendars arrived safe and sound and that you like them and will be giving them to people you love. Thank you so much for all your support Mick 🙏
Yep,.we all have those days sometimes. I just recorded a vlog and didn't realize until the end that no sound recorded. Scrapped the whole video. But that's really a stunning area and you'll have to re-visit,. especially when the weather is more conducive to landscape photography. You definitely found a few good compositions, so just put it up as an outing trip. Really enjoyed all of the rails 😂 made me feel better about myself 😢 Can't wait to see what you get from this area in the future. Have a great week down there!
Oh man that's so annoying! Back in 2017 Danny and I went to Scotland and he recorded all the trip on a Camcorder, and it wasn't until we got home that we realised the audio wasn't working at all 🤣 I am incredibly grateful though because it's what prompted him to start writing music! I'm glad you enjoyed my fails...it means it wasn't a fail in the end 😄 Thanks so much Paul, I hope you're having a great week!
Despite the "fails", which are a typical day for most of us, you got some nice images. I thought the B-roll at 3:27 could have had some potential for you. I liked the contrast of black and pale rocks.
I laughed way too much . . . Days like that certainly happen. I did like that image with the tree roots though. You did well. And as for blogging while there is others around - knocked Thomas outa the block well and truly.
Hahaha good! 😁 Yeah, when I started going through the footage I thought I'd just go with it 😄 When I was taking some photos for the thumbnail there were some people in the background peering suspiciously at me, who I didn't realise were there...my first thumbnail I made was one of them with a speech bubble "what's that loser doing?" 🤣
Yes, well done anyway on the images in very harsh light conditions. A place to go back to on a cloudy day. Nice shots of your behind but the nose shot was a bit ordinary! 😅
Hahaha! Yes I'll have to try in better conditions....probably in February or March when we should have had more rain too, to fill the creek up a bit. Thanks David!
Lisa l seem to be having more & more of these days just did a 2 day trip forgot my monopod, tripod & half my lenses. And that is not even the worst part of getting older (in my case not yours)😊
Oh dear, doesn’t sound good! I went camping up at Lamington once and forgot all my memory cards...which was better than the other time I went camping there and forgot half my tent 🤣
Just remember to pat yourself on the back for getting out of the house and challenging yourself. If you never fail you are never really trying :) Shoot on :)
You are looking at it wrong... These are not fails, consider this a massive challenge and a learning experience! By the way, going out with a lens you don't often use is a good way to expand your horizons. (With a wide angle lens, that's literally a good pun.)
Haha! Yes you're absolutely right Ted. I deliberately left my other lenses at home so I wouldn't be tempted to revert back to what I'm more comfortable with. I'll have to do the single lens thing more often...I enjoyed it (despite any appearance to the contrary 😁) Thanks so much!
Lisa If it was easy everybody would do it. I was watching a video 93% of pictures are taken with cellphones. You are one of the exclusive group of people who use a interchangeable lens camera and that exclusion requires a more experienced person who learns by trial and error what works. Chalk up this to a learning experience
Firstly I think you went a little heavy on your fail counter. The tripod head I understand but the rest can be chalked up to a not great day not a failure. Secondly don't plan a video for a lens or camera you've haven't used before. Test it out before that. And lastly while I agree there may not have been any portfolio bangers in that group they weren't all that bad either.
Don't worry, I'm not hating on myself...just when editing I thought it was hilarious how much went wrong so thought it would be good to theme the video around that 😄 Thanks so much for your support and kind words Sophie! 🙏
Regardless of the fails, you always do great work.
Thank you so much 🙏
Keep on keeping on Lisa, kudos for keeping in the ‘fails’.
You make me smile✌️
A smile is always a good outcome 😊 Thanks so much Markie!
I love ultrawide shots .. 🦘
I should have more opportunity to put that lens to good use soon...
Hey Lisa! I did find myself laughing, yes at you! But only because you called them out and because it's so relatable. We all have days like that. Keep the smile and we'll keep watching. Cheers!
That's just what I was hoping for...the day wasn't a fail in the end if it brings some laughter 😁 Thank you so much!
Even on a bad day you do good. Way to go.
Thank you so much John 🙏
Thank you for sharing, the good (photos) and the bad (things didn't come together), it made for a balanced video.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice! Is not only me!... It is fun to watch other photographers having the same failures!
Hurrah!! 🤣 I'm glad there's a few of us! 😁 Thanks Terry!
Failing is not taking photos, I’m learning from every single photo I take!!👍🏻👋🏻
So true! 🙏

@LisaFrostPhoto not a pilot, but I was aircrew in the RAAF a long time ago.

It doesn't seem right to say I'm glad you can relate 😄 Oh no, so glad your R5 survived! Thanks Anthony!

I think your images turned out great despite such bright, high contrast conditions. That proves you have mad skills with a camera. 🙂 Loved the video.
Ooo that doesn't sound good, I hope you didn't hurt yourself along with the lens. Thanks so much Jay for the support, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
No injury to myself, but I did tear my jeans, and broke the mounting ring on the lens. I ordered the parts and was able to fix the lens myself. As for the jeans? Even my wife's sewing skills couldn't repair them.😄@@LisaFrostPhoto
Better to sacrifice the jeans than the lens 😄
