Good lesson. I’m almost 50 and listen to rock in the radio in the early mid 90s. This is what I try to sound like . I’m not a huge Guns N Roses fan either . By listening to him growing up it subconsciously what I thought of as Hard Rock blues guitar should sound like Good work

@@bluesman75 hey good to hear for you. I’ll be 50 next month 👴🏻. Yea I was into GnR in 9th grade or so I learned some of the songs on AFD, or at least the best I could back then. I got into SRV in college and then kind of stopped playing electric lead guitar for many many years. I oily got back into it on 2019 or so I went back to learn some of those old GnR songs I could never play before. But you’re right, slash is basically playing blues guitar most of the time, just like page, Hendrix and SRV, just over different chords, a bit more distortion, and with a slight bit of 80s weedle thrown in. I personally like to blend his souls with guys like Clapton and Hendrix. But yea man, glad you stopped by. If you liked this one I have several other lessons of this type on my page. But I have gotten very close using a combination of modeling amps (I have a kemper profiler amp with slash profiles I bought), a Yamaha THR10 modeling desk amp that can get a tone very similar, and I have some OD pedals I have used with those amps as well as with a boss katana. My kemper is the best out of those. I was playing a jubilee profile last night that was very slashy. But for you, you will probably need pedals because built in amp gain with those types of amps tends to be a bit too fluffy, loose, or wooly for slash tone. Maybe get a tube screamer and an EQ pedal. You’ll want to boost mids a lot, fairly high treble, lower base, and moderate gain. Also depends on your picks ups. I have a few LPs, two of which has slash pups and one has more vintage PAF style, and with the PAF style it takes more boost to approximate the slash tone. I also think a Friedman OD pedal is a good option. I have Friedman BEOD deluxe pedal and it really captures that modded Marshall tone. Hope that helps, but I think with the amp that you have you will need some pedals to get that tone. Like when I play my neck pickup with these tones the tone is not wolly and dark, it alarmist sounds like a single coil due to treble boost. Let me know how you do ! 👍🏼🎸

@@michaelbaker9606 thanks man, that means a lot! I feel the same way. That feeling is actually what lead me to make the lesson videos. I have been watching so much content (from better players mind you) to try and learn the slash style but often come away feeling frustrated at the level of explanation. I have other lesson videos too if you like this one. I think I have done 9 at this point. I do try and focus on different aspects of the style in each one but there is definitely overlap. Thanks again man 👍🏼🤘🏼🎸

Thanks for the kind words man, I appreciate the awesome and encouraging feedback. I’m really just trying to teach the way that I like to be taught / learn. There are some guitar teachers who go way too fast, don’t break things down enough, or add too much variation too quickly. I think it would help if I’d find the time to learn video editing. As of now it’s all one take, mistakes and all. But thanks again my friend. How’s your playing coming along ?
