    You could make a whole lesson just dissecting your vibrato, its really awesome

    • @slashtrio
      @slashtrio  6 месяцев назад +2

      Man, that’s about the coolest compliment I could get!! I appreciate it. Yea I think vibrato and bends are super important and essential to sounding good. It’s definitely something I consciously think about and work on. I think I was randomly lucky to always have a decent vibrato and decent touch, and being into the blues was helpful because the blues is all about the feel, so spent a lot of time on that. I still hear guys sometimes who are definitely technically way better than me and play complex fast stuff, but maybe they have crazy, erratic or stiff vibrato, or bend out of pitch - and to me that kind of ruins it. It’s like someone signing out of key. I guess it’s important to have the appropriate hand technique, not grip too hard (try to stay loose so it seems less rigid and stiff), and work on bending to pitch. Like if you’re doing a whole step bend make sure it sounds the same as the target note. And even vibrato style os subjective, I have my preferences and am probably more influenced by guys like SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, when it comes to vibrato. But you have to figure out what you’re going for. Maybe I’ll try and lesson on this, but maybe tricky to explain well. Thanks again 🎸👍🏼🤘🏼

    Great stuff once again!
    How would you compare your Kemper to the THR10? Is it a big improvement?
    Thanks!

    • @slashtrio
      @slashtrio  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks man. It’s definitely an improvement but not sure that it’s mind blowingly different. I have no regrets in getting it and have been really enjoying it. I mean when I play it through the THR10, like I’m doing here it certainly sounds closer to the THR due to the same speakers and such. Using the 1x12 can sounds different for sure, bigger sound. I definitely have more amp “profiles” or models that I much prefer to the ones in the THR. I can get these dirty, but less gain, blues tones that are so great. If you can find a used one or finance one like I did through a music store interest free than I’d say go for it. But you may want to try the competitors too, like cortex and all those things. I haven’t even used my THR (aside from flat mode a speaker) since I got the kemper. Lots of good built in effects too

    • @slashtrio
      @slashtrio  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks!! It’s a 2022 LP standard 50s “CME spec” in dirty lemon. It’s a AA flame top, which I thought was kind of cool. From some angles it can almost look like a plain top and at other angles very active figuring, but more small wavy flames. I honestly got it because it reminded me of the way the derrig guitar looks on the live at the ritz 1988 concert. As a kid I thought it looked so cool. Cheers 🎸🤘🏼

      @@rzk2755 cool. Yea that’s wild because I just purchased an R9 Murphy lab light aged in dirty lemon. Also with wide flames. It’s a beauty and looks and feels like a vintage guitar. Unfortunately having some issues with it, fret buzz and such, but going to take to my local tech and see if it just needs a good set up. I called Gibson and they said if that doesn’t remedy the issues I could send it to them and they would fix or replace it. Hopefully it’s an easy fix. Guitar was not cheap!

    Great playing🤟🎩🤟 what is your set up?

    • @slashtrio
      @slashtrio  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks so much. My set up varies slightly but it’s basically a les Paul, kemper profiler amp (on this I’m using an amp profile of a Friedman dirty Shirley, with a treble boost that is a kemper based effect, and then a mini tube screamer-actual pedal). The resulting tone is probably in the jubilee territory, and a bit of JTM45 if I back off the gain). So that’s the amp, for speakers I either use a Yamaha THR10 modeling amp (on flat mode) which is what I’m doing here. The Yamaha just sounds fantastic at low volume. This was recorded at total bedroom volume. I also have a 1x12 kemper kab if I want the more full sound. The kemper is cool, pricy for sure, but awesome for sounding good at low volume and having a wide range of possible tones. I have some slash profiles too that get even closer to his sound but I kind of like the Friedman profile because it cleans up better and sounds great with a more mild dirty sound for blues. My LP can almost sound like a strat on the neck pup with this set up which I dig. Thanks!! 🎸🤘🏼- ohh I should also add that this is just recorded with an iPhone so it’s not the best audio
