- Found some old files on an old PC, old stuff I never used. This is a cover of the song "You're Dead" by Alkaline Trio off their album "From here to Infirmary" - probably my favorite Alkaline Trio album.
This is so good. Excellent vocals and playing and perfect dynamics.
Thanks, I appreciate that. You may have realized it’s an old recording. I have a bunch of trio covers from 10 to 16 years ago on my page if you’re interested. Thanks again
Ive learned all of my Alkaline Trio guitar covers from your videos... keep it up brother!
Awesome! Glad it helped! Thanks!
Thanks so much. I was messaging with a guy on one of my old videos and it jogged my memory of some things I never posted. This is an old video. It would take some practice to get my voice up to that standard. I’ll I do is noodle on the guitar now between working and family life. Thanks for your comment 😊
Awesome ! Like always great cover !! Hope to see a lot more… you should do she took him to the lake :)
Yessir yessir ⚡️⚡️
Thanks. I checked out your page and saw you have many trio covers. Very cool. I did a lot of acoustic covers many years ago. This video above is from 2012 so it’s old, just kind of stumbled upon it. At any rate, thanks for stopping by. I’ll check out more of your stuff. Cheers
Great voice man🔥
Thanks man, this is from 2012! My vocals would probably be pretty rusty now.
Super excited to see this in subscriptions. You've always had a great voice for ak3!
secret recordings showing up!
Yep, just found this on an old computer. I guess i didnt think it was good enough at the time, but i'm fine with it now ha.
Great stuff dude 🤟🔥
Thanks man, recorded a long time ago. Just came across it when I was going through an old PC. Figured I’d just post it for the heck of it.
@@slashtrio really enjoyed it
@@Kajojek thanks man. I have always had such varied taste in rock genres. I have always preferred playing blues / rock style lead guitar but have long been into punk and alternative music, so they often don’t meet in the same bands and styles. I keep meaning on getting back into singing and playing but have been laser focused on lead playing ha
Yes brother. Lovely stuff. Although at 50 seconds in it should be the A after the E and then the B, not the B then the A (I am so sorry to do this again) - vocals are sick though. How much did you want to double-track "We're nowhere near prepaaaaaaaared"?
Yea man, I was actually aware at the time that I made that mistake, which may be in part why I never posted it. But I recorded that in 2012. But hey, it's puck rock right? You think skiba ever hits a wrong chord! ha
haha skiba makes so many mistakes, forgets his own chord progressions all the time. all you did was switch two chords around and it didn't have an adverse effect on the song whatsoever. it's your cover and your interpretation of the song, so you can play it how you like. i just have a compulsion to point things out even when it's not not needed @@slashtrio
This is really good man. You should definitely try making more covers with vocals again ;)
Thanks man, this was from like 2013 I think! Yea, I did kind of flirt with learning a couple of trio songs, Your Neck and One Hundred Stories but kind of fell off track. I have a more challenging time singing loudly nowadays because I have kids and stuff ha. I’m so private about singing, I need to be sealed off somewhere. I’ll try and do it sometime. Been pretty guitar obsessed.
@@slashtrio Yeah, I'm truly jealous of your guitar skills. I've only perfect poppunk and the signature skiba style, but that's it! I also did some vocal covers many many years ago, but they weren't as good as yours.
@@luckysmokerings2 I hear ya, I have always straddled two different worlds musically. I started playing guitar as a young teen and quickly in a punk band and played songs from the Sex Pistols, black flag, and stuff, but then I started to like to play surf guitar and bluesy kind of stuff. Then in high school I got into GnR (which was quite a departure for me), and while his voice always (and still does) kind of rub me the wrong way I did really like the guitar, which was really much more blues based rock then all the hair metal or the time. After that I went full on blues guitar (SRV, Clapton) for a couple of years and learned those basic chops. I quit playing all through grad school and after until getting into the trio and singing in 2004ish. So I have always mostly listened to punk (misfits, bad religion, NOFX, alkaline Trio, circle jerks) but always like playing blues guitar! Very different worlds. I guess if I had to be in a band that found a way to merge the two it would end up sounding like the New York dolls or the stooges ha. But yea man, your trio covers a great.
Oh, I felt like skiba played a little differently on the new album. Some different riffs and stuff, I guess he’s branching out a bit
