Bethesda has the fundamentals down. They showed us that they can make a compelling world with skyrim. They gave us one of the best gameplay loops for a looter ever in fallout 4. Their music and sound direction is one of the best out there. Story, combat, and dialogue are the main overhauls needed for their games. Remove a few parasites from your company like your incompetent writer, optimize your engine a little and PLEASE LISTEN TO THE FANSBIT'S ONE OF THE KEY FUNDAMENTALS OF A SUCCESSFUL GAME.

I don’t want to play NMS. I don’t want to spend a fortune to try and play SC or ED. I want to play Starfield. Starfield taps into the magic of spaceflight but removes flight. When you see that pretty marble looking ball, and you feel it become a world beneath your feet, that’s flight. When you leave a world and battle the greatest force in the universe to feel that world become a pretty little marble again, guess what, that’s flight. I’ll make a deal with you, you can keep the loading screens just stick the flight between the takeoff and landing animations. Pop me to 500ft AGL and let me rip. You have a beautiful game that is hurting. This is where it hurts the most. I know, I play it all the time. All the issues people have with the game (mechs, POIs, story, Creations, paid mods, etc.) are moons orbiting this one core problem. It’s atmospheric flight baby. I just hope its like Elden Ring, fantastic on release with a few issues that get patched/updated along the way. I expect bugs and glitches but I am just HOPING that this isn't one of those situations where the game releases underdeveloped and fully of microtransactions. Microtransactions is my biggest fear with this game. If they implement microtransactions in a singleplayer game I'll freak. It'll doom all other games to the same shit just like they popularised all this with the Horse Armour in the first place.

I hear you all, but consider this: Bethesda release their creation kit for all to use. Along with tutorials and whatnot. And they do not nuter it in any way either. So a fan based community can create all that every one of you find lacking, and more than you ever can imagine. Be it combat engine, npc ai, game mechanics or whatever. You have all the assets you need to create all the unique stories imaginable. And with the creation kit you can add your own assets, animations, behaviors and such. Wich other game studio does that? It has not preserved TES and Fallout for a select few enthusiasts, it has created a living, thriving community of players and creators. Put a few mods into any game and it becomes a totally different beast. That is the nature (and legacy) of Bethesda studio.

I work a full time job with overtime everyday. Sure objectively spending my free time is a waste of time, but I like it as my hobby for relaxing and enjoying myself. And gaming is a hobby! I hate that some people don't consider gaming a "real" hobby because you are not creating anything when you play games. We already spend majority of our lives being "productive" why can't we just "waste time" during our free time? I can't speak for everyone but I am not a robot always thinking about productivity and making money!

It isn’t a current thing that Bethesda tries to lower expectations. Skyrim > Fallout4 > Fallout67 > Redfall Starfield was also not good. Every game since Skyrim was continuously of lower quality than the pre Skyrim games. So in my opinion the last 13years were all a operation to lower the expectations with each release 😂

It’s a no-brainer that I would never have taken to English without video games as an incentive as a large part of the JRPG market still lack in French translations (my native language). And that enables me to experience the reading of 1984 in its original and intended form afterwards. Not mentioning all the people from different countries I could now talk with as a result of the acquisition of my proficiency in this language. And I started learning Japanese too 😅

I am a woman and a gamer so this is wild to me. Also I remember a family member quoting an ACTRESS on how playing video games is a waste of time. Because watching her shows on Netflix is what? It makes more money than the movie and music industries. That is one of the major political reasons. I, for example have stopped watching television, movies, tv shows more than two decades ago, and I don't listen to music as much either. I play games. What I have spent on games, I have not spent on the movie and music industry. Also, I don't eat up everything the news says about anything. It's all about some sides losing (future) money and influence potential (though the latter is debatable).

I'm coming up for 72yrs old an I've been a gamer since the Atari era and still enjoying it since I retired I have more time on my hands although family takes up a lot of it, my memory and mobility is not what it should be so for me gaming keeps my brain functions going and also my hands and fingers moving and the main thing helps my mental health.I play on my Xbox series X virtually every day/night (also keeps me out of the wifes way LOL) so yes I agree with you it's a beautiful hobby ,I even take the Xbox away on holiday (we go away quite a few times in the year)so I can keep playing.Two great vids thanks.

I have lost many friends over the years because I like video games and anime 😅 but I met my best buddies through video game's like Skyrim , fall Resident evils , Battlefield 4 multiplayer . 😊 They care for me more than those so called friends I used to have .
