ARIENS AYP 936053 MOWER WONT DRIVE FORWARD OR REVERSE DIY FIX, CHEAP! (Hydro Trans New Belt)
I have this same bike. It was my dads from new. Looking at upgading it to be a little more modern and getting it out on the road again. Good to see its possible to upgrade and its not too ancient
Thanks for the comment, and please take a moment to subscribe! That's awesome man, congrats on the new bike! Make sure you add grease into the seat tube and fork steerer! This steel frame will last a lifetime otherwise!
Why didn't you include sa brake why only the sti: (
Thanks for the comment, and please take a moment to subscribe! The brake cable hasn't changed since before the creation of their first STI shifter in 1990, so it's not something I've ever been asked before. It's very simple though, you press the brake handle and look inside the shifter, you'll see the brake cable hole and run it through the hole in the back of the shifter. I'd recommend using tape or rubber band to hold the brake handle so you can use a light to identify the holes with your free hand.
How bad was the p bone? Im good at fixxing head shoks
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! It was left outside and full of rust, needed a full rebuild and back then I didn't have the tools. Got the tools to repair them myself now though!
Great video - I have a 2005 Giant OCR 1 and need to upgrade it.
Hi Aaron! Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe!
Absolute lifesaver, thank you!
Glad to help! Please take a moment to subscribe!
Hello! Hey, I have a Trek oclv 5000 and it’s missing the front derailuer hanger, where can I get one?
Hi Elie! Please take a moment to subscribe! It's called a front derailleur tab, I would Google "OCLV front derailleur tab" and keep a sharp eye on ebay. Posting on Trek OCLV or Vintage bike groups would help too, someone will have one in their parts bin, I'm sure!
Great job
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! We still got this car too, still is my wifes daily drive and it's never given us an issue! I did end up replacing the harmonic balancer pulley last year, so if yours has cracks use rockauto. I also did a new valve cover recently because the car was having PCV issue pushing oil into the intake & making the gasket slightly leak. Also a big tip is to add 20539 indian head shellac onto the new intake gasket to make it super durable too.
I have a F700 and trying to remove the fatty 50mm headshok fork. I've got to the point of having released the steerer tube with a mallet but it won't now slide completely out from the headtube. It seems there is a mechanical ridge (close to the bottom cup sealed bearing) which stops it coming fully out the frame. Like yours the steerer tube is the same diameter so it seems odd that it would catch on something inside which is perhaps inside the headtube. Would be grateful if anyone can advise. Now posted a video of the issue Thanks.
Hit it harder!
I have a few questions. whats the connection you used for the power supply? and whats the other motherboard the smaller one in the R2 do i need to swap that over with the main motherboard.?
What do you soak the head bolts in?
Hi Rick thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! I always have leftover synthetic oil from oil changes so I use that.
@D2WrenchWorksDIY How has the rack held up? I was thinking along the same lines but using the black steel pipe for natural gas as the rod. I was wondering what to use to hold the rod/pipe and the brackets you used have that plastic bit on them. Thanks for the video
Hi Jeff, thanks for the question, and please take a moment to subscribe! I still have this rack, actually, and it's been great. I just added more straps! The brackets and all are in the description and they're meant to lock into the pipe I used its designed for. They're able to handle more than any bike weight you can get on there and the top part makes for a great shelf!
I have my 2002 Cdale Caad 5 road bike with old worn out Shimano 9s STI double crank group. I consider replacing the shifters with Microshift R10s with a new 10chain&Cassette to run with the existing 9s Ultegra SS rear Derailleur, and my existing 6500 double crankset. Would the shifting be ok in this set up with a 42/52 or even a 44/52 chainring setup? I'd get a 12-28 10speed cassette if that size low cog not beyond the limits? Or will I have too much dis satisfactory results? I have put in plenty of hours as a bike shop mechanic, just never tried this. I'm impressed with what I see in Microshift road shifters btw. Thanks POster.
I got a Premis for free early summer. At some point the bike was upgraded to 8sp 600 Ultegra derailleurs and calipers with 105 8sp downtube shifters. I stripped and repainted it at work. I replaced the stock crank for a modern aero FSA crank with a 54t and a 39 small. The rear was 12-23 but is now 11-28. The front Velocity wheel cracked on the brake track and I found a set of Spinergy carbon REV X wheels. I love this bike so much. I even did a gravel race on it too and it was fantastic
Hell yeah man, that is awesome!!! It's such a under dog of a bike, but I love to hear it! Sounds like you got a sweet build, crazy to think how long they'll last now!
Just picked up a 51cm CFR3 for $100 today. Thanks for makin the vids!
Congrats on the awesome bike and thanks for subscribing! I just rebuilt one for a friend with a 9 speed group, still a great bike!
we can really say that it is similar on X7s, you just have to remove a small plastic/rubber cover that is on the top of the case, so no need to unscrew underneath, you have to specify it, because otherwise if the person does not know and watches this video, they will rush to unscrew under the case as you do when it is useless, you just have to lift a cover and take out the cable and put another one in
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe. I'm aware of the shifters you're referring to and it's a different type all together. I also have a video on those shifters with the "door" you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/Lir-6v3Su6I/видео.html
Hi! I really liked your video, and also noticed that you’re having extensions on each side of the screen to fit perfectly the oem opening. Is it something you’ve printed yourself? Would be interested about this! Thank you
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Great, question I totally forgot to add this in the description! I used this install kit: amzn.to/4ekNjJe
I had to use a longer axle to move up to a 8-9-10 speed freehub body
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Were these wheels original to the frame you installed them on?
Can anyone help me? PLS! The problem I have now is that even though the timing is set I cannot turn the camshaft, after 1/4 turn the camshaft /crankshaft cannot be turned!
Hi JG I am sorry but it is impossible for me to diagnose your car through comments and I did this job almost two years ago. I can tell you right now though if something is binding up, it is not timed correctly. You are likely having the pistons hitting the valves and you need to start all over. The issue is the belt is a tight squeeze like you are experiencing but as you get the belt on, pressure moves the cam gears and or the crankshaft. You need to check it over and over and over, as you slowly get the belt on. It is tough, as a new belt is CRAZY THICK & STRONG but use a red paint marker to mark your timing marks and use good lighting to keep an eye on movement.
Very helpful D2 WrenchWork because i have an Suzuki forenza and I'm changing the oil pan, lifters and oil pump.. the oil pump not sure about and i would like to have the long Version on setting the timing. Overall great job and would have loved the long Version on all 7, because I watch all 7🫲
Hi William thanks for the kind words and please take a moment to subscribe! We still have ours actually haha, my wife has been driving it every day and I just did some things I wished I did back when I filmed this. Two things: 1. It's likely your plastic valve cover's built-in pcv is clogged or damaged. I tried to clean ours when I did this repair but it clearly wasn't enough. We started experiencing a vacuum leak randomly, I pulled the intake manifold this weekend to find the gasket coated in oil. The PCV being clogged pushes all the pressure into the little hose running into the intake near the throttle body and pools down at the gasket, ruining it. I bought a new valve cover off rockauto.com for $70. 2. Coat paper intake gasket in Permatex gasket shellac on one side, put on head and coat the other side then install instake manifold. amzn.to/4fr6ZMD
"Budget bike". More like "lifetime bike". Before today's drive-thru/throw away culture.
Phil Gnarly you said it man! Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe if you love projects like this, it's all I do haha! I sold this to a freshman who was gonna keep for a really long time he said, always cool to see a project bike become the workhorse it should be!
I have the exact same model OCR Three as shown at the start of the video. I got it with all the original parts for $70 off eBay. A common problem with those early Soras is the front derailleur, which snaps at the point where the spring applies the most pressure to the lever. I threw a carbon fork on it and some new wheels with 700x28 GP5000s, and a 105 group set I also got used. It rides very nicely and I even managed to get into the Strava top 10 for local segments. I've taken it up to 50kph down a hill and it didn't feel too bad at all.
Hi Mark! Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! You're absolutely right about these sora derailleurs, the spring perch is badly designed and breaks off over time, seemingly 2024 is when they all self-destruct haha. I upgrade them with a newer generation you can find here: amzn.to/3Uy86BX . Nice job on the carbon fork and new groupset! Sora works really well but adding on some high quality speed parts isnt just about nicer feeling shifters!! You can fit 32c tires on these bikes by the way!!! I have another blue one just like this but an ocr3 (sora) and I tried just for fun, as wayyy back a guy said he fit 30c's easily in the comment of this video I believe. Anyway that's insane, I don't know why these OCR's are so underrated but I can't complain!
Merci !
OK. To install the belt it is necessary to loosen the water pump! Nobody said that! The problem I have now is that even though the timing is set I cannot turn the camshaft, after 1/4 turn the camshaft cannot be turned!
I didnt have to loosen my waterpump but I did use some rubber clamps to hold the belt on the cam gear, I would recommend zip ties to help if you dont have clamps. You can definitely leave the tensioner loose to help though.
Merci !
This is absolutely unrealistic. I haven't been able to put on my timing belt for three days! The tensioner is ok in the left position, I start from the right side to finish with the tensioner, but there are a few millimeters missing to put the strap on the tensioner. This is a crazy system
I definitely don't disagree the system can be a little hard at first
Thanks for the video very helpful ❤
Hi Gio! Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! I got two Giant road bike videos coming out soon!
Thanks for the video. My neighbor recently gave me a 2001 OCR Three. He made it a 1x setup. I was thinking of going back to the triple setup. What do you think?
Hi Fred! Thanks for the comment, please take a moment to subscribe & congrats on the new bike! I personally am not of fan of the 1x craze. I think a triple is awesome especially when you implement climbing into your rides, although the original Sora derailleur was not good and he likely went 1x because it broke. The spring perch is badly designed and breaks off over time, I upgrade them with a newer generation you can find here: amzn.to/3Uy86BX . You can also convert it to a 2x and add a larger cassette! My favorite setup on a double is an 11 -30T cassette with a 52T & 38T chain ring setup. I use this rear derailleur which matches the front I linked earlier, older ones can has issues clearing the 30t cassette: amzn.to/3AowGOT & here is the cassette: amzn.to/3YyJNVV . If you go double you'll want that front derailleur instead: amzn.to/3Yx8cuL
@@D2WrenchWorksDIY Thanks for the info really appreciate it! I am subscribed. Thanks again.
Awesome thanks for becoming a subscriber!
so incredibly rad that i found your videos. I am stripping mine down to bare metal and polishing it. I would have made a video but I am self conscious and i cuss ALOT
Hi Timothy thanks for the kind words and please take a moment to subscribe! A polished aluminum frame would definitely look very cool, you're gonna have to be patient, polishing is a chore! Take your time and make it yours though man, projects should be fun! Checkout my more recent videos too, I've done a bunch more cannondales since and more on the way!
I just found this identical bike, same wheels everything, just a different color ($40). Can't wait to see what you do
Hi Timothy thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Congrats on your new bike man, that's a smoking deal!
I have that exact same bike it's all stock. The seat and post on mine are titanium.
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Awesome bike you got there, they truly are a hidden gem! Very cool on the titanium bits too 😎 👌
I need help. I have a problem with this Timing Belt Tensioners. I don't understand how it works and I can't tighten the belt!
Hi JG! Did you figure this out? I have a video part somewhere explaining it, that I can locate for you if you need.
Merci !
Many thanks JG!
I found one with the same color scheme in my local area. With dura ace components. Is it still worth it to buy for 440usd?
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! If you'd like an in depth purchase walk-through I offer this on my patreon but I'm happy to answer a couple questions! 1. Always make sure you inspect the frame and watch some videos on identifying carbon damage, if you aren't already familiar. 2. For a clean frame without any major cosmetic flaws, PLUS a complete Dura-Ace 7700 groupset for $440 is a GREAT PRICE! Dura-Ace 9 speed is some of the best road stuff you can buy, only downfall is shifter grips are becoming rare and you need to keep an eye out by setting ebay alerts.
HELLO i have an ariens 42 gear riding mower can u PLEASE take a pic how the brake assembly goes i took mine apart to put in new pucks and i have an extra half inch spring left over..need pics thanks GREAT VIDEOS ty
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Unfortunately, I sold this mower when I moved in August. In the description you'll find a link to an online owners manual I used for diagrams though! I also used the model # and jackssmallengines.com to find missing parts off my mower using their diagrams too!
is the shifter quality good?
Thanks for the question, and please take a moment to subscribe! Yes, good quality for sure! If you checkout many of my recent build videos you'll find videos of me shifting them with microshift shifters. Very smooth shifts.
Thanks for posting this! Great job! The brakes have been awful on this bike ever since I got it. I replaced the front cable yesterday while watching this video and I cannot believe how well they work. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Congrats on an important repair! Often times bikes have HUGE cable lengths and are setup super loose! I ALWAYS recommend to upgrade to Shimano pads and Sealed housings, the stopping power difference will be shocking!
I've Just Got My Hands on a Vitus Dural 979 Carbone 9 🙌🙌. Have you still got this three years later?
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Congrats on your new bike! I no longer have mine but it was a very cool bike! If memory serves me correctly, when I posted the video it sold.
litteraly bought this for 100e (actually 111,88USD) in france, dont see much of them around here... guess i got a good deal ;)
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Very cool & congratulations on your new bike!! There's not many of them around in the USA either, it's a very cool find!
@@D2WrenchWorksDIY thanks for your answer ! do you know about how much is it worth in usa ?
Just now seeing this! I'd imagine around $550 pretty easily if all stock

Mine is doing the same thing……I’ll let you know how it turns out…….fyi I used two vice grips two grab the battery terminals……not as much as a hassle……..thanks
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! One thing I forgot to mention is to check your blade spindles while you're in there, I ended up doing both of mine 4 months later.
Hello! It"s me again! I bought Permatex 81950 Ultra Slick Engine Assembly. Question: use on lifters and cams? Or where else?
Hi again! I always just used new oil (cheap) but yes you definitely want to lube up all contact spots on the cams and when dropping in the lifters on the sides and top! These are the only areas that're important. Assuming you already bled your lifters out, dont forget that before install! If you pulled your fuel pump fuse like me, you will leave it out once finished and turn the car over for 20-30 seconds. This'll prime the engine with fuel as well as oil, so nothing will be dry and it'll start up quicker.
Merci !
Many thanks again! You are moving right along on this job my friend! Make sure to get the specific Antifreeze I use btw!
any idea if this fits 28mm? is fork limiting factor, my caad 5 has HUGE clearance
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Unfortunately I can't find my original craigslist post anymore but I feel like these were 25c or 28c tires and space wasn't an issue. I almost always have a build sheet but its been a while since I sold this bike, sorry!
Wow beautiful bike! I have the 1998 Cannondale Super V 500. Im looking for a new Rear shock eyelet bushing. Any advice on where to find that?
Hi thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! I'd try measuring with a micrometer and see if amazon has some universal kits. If not try ebay or Vintage Cannondale Facebook groups, there are some cannondale guys on there with hard to find parts!
Merci !
Thank you, kind sir!
I've got this bike,and its a beauty
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! I totally agree though it's such an awesome bike!
I can't even remove the bolt, it's rusted in solid.
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! I'd use a 1/2" ratchet and a pipe it'll break that bolt loose easy!
I'm lost. You say 6.5 pounds per foot and then 18 pounds per foot, but my key is in NM and LB-IN. More: the gasket manufacturer REINZ provides a different sequence for tightening torque screws 1) 25 Nm -2) 90 degrees 3) 90 4) 90 degrees
Timestamp what you're talking about
Charm.li is the free reference I'm using, probably easier to figure it out if you see the book.
Why you tell: torquing bolts to 10 foot pounds? Pounds to foot! But why not pounds to inch? Every wrench is in N/M or LB/IN !
I'm in USA we are late adapters to metric system unfortunately lol. I am just telling you what the specs are from the book, don't shoot the messenger! For smaller numbers like 10 ft/lb I do convert them on my phone to in/lb and use the smaller torque wrench when needed. To be honest anything this low 99% of people just ignore and do it by hand lol.
@@D2WrenchWorksDIY Thanks. But I am Canadian LOL! Ultimately, I used the torque wrench only for the first tightening. Then I simply used the old method, i.e. tightened it by hand as before! LOL! Thanks. Now I move on to the next stage: lifters
Nice man! Great work!
I remember their Paramount back in the 80's being pretty dope.
Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Heck yeah those are very cool and definitely a sought after road bike! If you look back my very first video (don't hold it against me lol!) it was a Schwinn MTB inspired from the Schwinn PDG and I do a part 2 of the after build! Those are definitely PEAK Schwinn days IMO! Maybe one day I'll find one my size and on a budget!
