I love how you go through the history. I almost got one of these, but ended up getting a CAAD10.

Hi Al thanks for the kind words I appreciate that! It takes a good amount of work to add in the history but I love to! Nice find by the way the CAAD10 is a great frame!

I have the exact same bicycle! Picked it up secondhand for $300 about a year ago, everything is stock aside from the saddle (Brooks B17).

Thanks for the comment and please take a moment to subscribe! Nice bike, this was a fun build and it is such a great frame too! Always good to see a functioning headshok out in the wild! Nice choice on the saddle too!

There is one for sale on Craigs List in my town and in my size. The price is seemingly very good. I am tempted to buy it, but reluctant because of the Headshock. I am a Cannondale fanboy. I've been riding them since 1991. So, it is very tempting. I do have a question. Won't changing from the Headshock to a regular fork, change the geometry? Was the frame compensated for the taller fork or did the just toss it on they same frame.

Thanks for the comment David, please take a moment to subscribe if you haven't already! The fork I used has the same geometry and you can find it in the description. I looked up the headshok rake in the 1997 catalog to make sure. It'll ride just the same as it did before but smoother without the bulky headshok. Even if you did change for a 43mm rake for example I don't think it'll have a huge change.

@D2 WrenchWorks & DIY what I was thinking about wasn't the rake but the length. Without the shock part, won't it be shorter and drop the front? If I do buy it, I'd definitely change out the fork like you did.

Since it's the same rake the geometry would still be the same but the wheel is closer to the frame with the road fork now. The fork only has a travel of 25mm so it's not a huge difference there either, if anything the headshok was kinda just tossed on a CAD3 frame here haha. Sell the headshok on ebay too they bring decent money.
