I didn't even know of the existence of the "Strands" game until I came across one of these videos of yours that just randomly showed up on my youtube homepage yesterday, so today I went and found it online and tried playing it, and not to rub it in, but yeah, I actually found it almost absurdly easy. I didn't even know how to go about playing this game, but "Park Place" immediately made me think about stuff found in your local neighborhood park, so I looked for "slide" and found it, then "seesaw", then realized that what I was really thinking about was a "playground" which sure enough turned out to be that real long yellow one which I guess is supposed to be a kind of more specific description of the puzzle's theme? The only slightly questionable thing for me was "climber", which i found easily enough but don't know the term, I assume it's the NYT's word for what I always called a "Jungle Gym" or "Monkey Bars", which someone on twitter has probably decided are somewhat problematic terms now. ON THE OTHER HAND...Actually recognizing those partial Presidential names, especially so early on, is just amazing to me. Dumb-ass word tricks like that are why I never let myself worry *too* much whether those last four leftover Connections words actually make any thematic sense to me or not. Oh, and I got Wordle in three, almost entirely due to my second guess happening to be "UNITE" which all by itself told me the answer was definitely "?UITE" (and my first guess eliminated the "S", the only other valid guess). Truth be told, the answer would Have to be that blatantly obvious for me to ever even consider a Q word.

With Strands, it just depends how it strikes you. Sometimes it's easy, other times it's hard, and sometimes it should be easy, but it's hard because you're barking up the wrong tree. 🙂For an added challenge, you can try to get the Spangram first.

VETCH SLATE ROUTE UNITE QUITE (Only 2 possibilities after ROUTE; so just a bit unlucky) Long but fast run. Qualifies for Wordle in a minute (easily). The NY Times just announced the release of the Wordle Archive, which means you can now play every official Wordle puzzle ever created, going back to the very first one (June 19, 2021.) That's more than 1,100 puzzles. I didn't discover Wordle until a few months after it launched, so it's nice to be able to "go back in time" and catch up on the ones I missed. The only negative (as far as I can tell) is that this site is for subscribers only. 😐

@@ellensassani Wordle really proved to be the beginning of a cultural phenomenon. I've got to give the NYT credit for recognizing its incredible potential and running with it. Before Wordle, the NYT had its devoted crossword puzzle fans, but that was pretty much it. When Wordle exploded on the scene, it set off a chain reaction that resulted in the development and popularity of many new word games, including Connections and Strands. It led to the creation of many new RUclips channels, websites and publications. It practically created a whole new industry.

If an event has a probability p of happening, then it's a geometric distribution, and the expected number of attempts until it happens is 1/p. So I'm afraid if something has a probability of 1/227, then on average it will take 227 attempts before it happens. In this video you specified that the four selected words end up on the top or bottom row or left or right column, which is half as likely, ie 1/455, so expected 455 clicks! But I noticed today you were quite happy with the four words being on the side but going round the corner, so if you add in those configurations, that improves it to about 1/152.
