This was a nasty Connections. You'll see my results below, but I got hung up on the "Shades of Black" too and I couldn't pin down the tree category. And I couldn't name the categories correctly either. If this competition mode I'd give myself a total of ½ point.
I found connections very challenging. I was focused on magazines for awhile, ebony, maxim, jet. I saw the grille fuel first. Then I sussed the spa parts which killed my magazines. Then there was six trees!!! With the death of magazines I went with the literal definition of maxim and yellow fell into place. Personally, I thought the yellow should be purple and purple yellow. Jewel tones are my favorite color groupings so I had a blast with strands especially with the gem shaped spangram.

Connections seemed pretty easy for me today. Grilling first, and then I knew chestnut and saw, so I got through quickly. I did see three shades of black and three magazines but discarded them since there wasn't a fourth in either category. Like so many days in connections it's just luck knowing the right alternate meanings. Strands was really cute though putting a gem shape in the puzzle.

Our wild elderberry (elder) are still blooming here; the clusters of blooms are mixed with the ripening berries. The blooms glow white in moonlight. In Connections I made two mistakes getting the blue (trees), including “chestnut,” but once I had the trees, the rest fell into place. Maybe because I never thought of magazines…

Kinda surprised that a renaissance man like Art forgot that ebony is a wood hence a tree. Pianos had black keys long before plastics were invented. I've never been near a hot tub ( yeugh ) so I was guessing things found in a swimming pool set up !

That "Trees" category took all my guesses. I also thought there would be a "Shades of Black" category. Never even heard of most of the things in the Yellow category.
