Art, there are lots of movie adaptations of classic children's stories, especially Disney films. Peter Pan is a good example... there have been several movies based on it. Movies might be a good alternative for you, faster than reading a book, and much more entertaining. I think the movies are probably where most of us were introduced to these stories.
I think I would be harsh and maybe not give you a full point for the purple category, Art. The category is about lit-up signs not recording studios. I'm not from the US but even I know you guys don't feature a green walking man in traffic crossings, you have a green sign literally saying "WALK". That's outside though. EXIT is in all big buildings, where to escape a fire, not just in recording studios. APPLAUSE is indeed in a studio, but not a recording studio: its for studio audiences for television shows. Only RECORDING would you find in an actual recording studio, warning people. It's basically a "do not disturb" sign. You were definitely onto the idea, but I would have given myself only half a point for "signs in a recording studio". To get the full point I would have required you say or think "walk signs are outside, for pedestrian crossings" so you would drop the recording part of your answer. I wouldn't necessarily have required you to state "these are all signs that are lit up" though.

"Principal" is correct. It means "main" or "most important," which fits in with the other words in that category. "Principle" means a kind of rule, belief, or idea that guides you.
