Fab 4 Free 4 All is a talk show that focuses on the Beatles, solo Beatles, and related artists.
Hosted by three Beatle experts, Mitch Axelrod, Rob Leonard, and Tony Traguardo (radio veterans, authors, and lecturers), the shows focus on topics that span the Beatles’ group and solo careers. Think of any aspect of the Beatles history as a group, or as solo artists ... and it's all here.
No topics, or opinions, are off limits. We tell it like it is, with an eye toward offering up accurate, and sometimes unique, facts, information, and anecdotes. And since the show is hosted by three longtime friends with VERY individual likes, dislikes and perspectives, there is always respectful but humorous conversation and debate in every episode.
Fab 4 Free 4 All is available as a podcast for download directly from iTunes, Archive.org, or from our site, Fab4free4all.com. And now it comes to RUclips!

Fab 4 Free 4 All Episode 260 - 'Daytime Revolution' (Movie): Analysis and Review
Просмотров 937Месяц назад
#beatles #johnlennon #fab4free4all For a full week in February of 1972, the seemingly improbable happened. A very popular daytime talk/variety television program, The Mike Douglas Show, had John Lennon and Yoko Ono as its guest co-hosts. As popular as it was, The Mike Douglas Show was considered to be pretty “vanilla “ and was not known for promoting anything near controversial. The show was th...

In July 2024 Sean Lennon and his team released remixed versions of John Lennon's "Mind Games" album. Originally released after the controversial "Some Time In New York City," "Mind Games" was initially not embraced by critics or fans, who considered it to be mediocre by Lennon standards. In this episode, the Fab 4 Free 4 All welcome Beatles author and Lennon expert, Chip Madinger, as a fourth s...

Просмотров 1,4 тыс.5 месяцев назад
In August 1974, Paul McCartney and the latest (recently formed!) version of Wings went into E.M.I. Studios (Abbey Road) for four days. The new band was coming hot off a fruitful trip to Nashville, and the band was smokin'. They performed many songs live in the studio in rehearsal for a possible live album. Paul also recorded some solo tunes in the studio's 'backyard'. These sessions, along with...

1964 was an incredible year for Beatles fans, particularly in America. But it was also a weird, wacky and confusing time for those fans! Referred to as 'Beatles exploitation' or 'covers' albums, these re...

Fab 4 Free 4 All Episode 238 - Collecting the Beatles
Some of us ordered the box to keep sealed and the individual albums to play. - Dave
Watched the video. Enjoyed it. However, I wish the camera was in focus or 1080P so that we could see details. I think they cheaped out by not going with the cardboard sleeves with the paste on slicks. Look at tThe Beatles in MONO CD set. They created the one USA Cover using cardboard and paste on slicks. (Magical Mystery tour). I also am of the belief that when one makes a REPLICA, that it should be a replica in all ways. No adding extra text. They could us an OBI strip or sticker to show the current company info.
Thanks. We rushed to get the video done to share the excitement and the settings were off and we didn’t know. We were just as disappointed about the quality but we DO talk about the details. We appreciate you watching and your feedback.
Awesome job guys...great seeing you all together!
Good discussion, guys. The box set and entire package look beautiful. I am looking forward to hearing from you on the most important thing (at least to me 🙂) about this release: the audio. I will be curious as to how the sound compares to the 2004 and 2006 Capitol cd sets. Thanks guys for an informative and enjoyable presentation.
I have "Beatles Story" with Apple labels with sides 1 and 4 on first disc and 2 and 3 on second disc.
Nice video looks like a great set thanks guys
Very interesting discussions. Thanks. I would like a subsequent set not only for the Butcher album but because I like Beatles VI.
Great job, guys!
P.s. I'm getting mine from Japan. With the belly band..
I'm the First.. Yesssss. Hi Guys Don Balfour from Australia... Love the show and looooooong time listener
Oh Yeah!!
DUDE HIW COULD YOU KNOT KNOW LOUIE NE WAS ZOMBO ON THE MUNSTERS OR MR DYSDALES SON !!!
Jack paar was never rude to his guests. He was a great broadcaster. Mike Douglas was a middle of the road clueless hack. He sang a Paul song Michelle to John Lennon. His producers tried to have him sing ‘yer blues’ or ‘cold turkey’ to John but Mike wouldn’t hear of it and complained it wasn’t in his vocal range
The live performance of Memphis Tennessee in 1972 might be one of the worst solo performances by a beatle ever. Yoko destroyed what should have been one of the most endearing moments in beatle history. Terrible performance
By 1972 John Lennon with the release of sometime in New York City committed career suicide. Releasing a single about a song talking about women being the n word was a stupid act of shameless exhibitionism. The world was tired of john and yokos bullshit schemes and leftist politics and quite simply contrived acts of attention seeking gimmicks. 😢. The nadir of John’s career was failing to sell out Madison square garden which embarrassed John and yoko. And Allen Klein The worst humiliation for beatle John was when the small group of retarded children threw tambourines and trash onto the stage during yokos sister o sisters performances. Years later elephants memory guitarist Tex Gabriel angrily once said when the retarded children boo your act it’s pretty obvious we sucked really bad. The retarded children on the other hand absolutely adored Stevie wonder and Roberta flacks opening numbers
2024 “The year of John” with all these releases. Can’t wait to get the Blu-ray. Jack Parr was downright rude to some guests. Same with Letterman. Look for example how nasty Letterman was to Pia Zadora. Dated and nasty humor he had at times
I’m still waiting for Ringo the fourth holographic AI limited triple vinyl edition
I was a freshman in college and watched this all week when I got home after classes. I just about died laughing when I saw the bug-eyed expression on Chuck's face when Yoko started screaming. But he didn't miss a beat! Thank you for your review. You inspired me to get tickets to a showing in Waterville, Maine.
The millionaire Marxists, living in their castle and singing "Imagine no possessions, it's easy if you try..." 🤣
John Lennon was always a contradiction. He sang give peace a chance while he threw a large rock through Paul mccartneys window in St. John’s wood. George Harrison once violently screamed at a Concorde flight attendant and nearly punched her when she interrupted his meditation to serve him complimentary tea
Looking at the release of FM & AM by George Carlin released according to Wikipedia on January 27 1972, so the album was just a few weeks old when he appeared. Just looking at that week Paul McCartney was doing his University Tour across the UK, while Glyn Johns at Olympic Studios producing the debit album by Eagles. Also Harvest by Neil Young was released, and just fascinating what was happening in music and comedy at that point in time.
Great job, guys! I remember watching this as it was broadcasted back in February, 1972...I was almost 17. My Mom had a friend at the time who was very "square" and considered "old fashioned". She made a point of watching the Mike Douglas show every day - except that week LOL
I was 8, about to turn 9 three months later and I saw a couple of the shows. I remember this obscenely priced VHS set of the week that was out years ago. I'm still wishing it was on DVD.
Saw it as a kid. Mike was M.O.R. Milk Toast yet he had some great guests like John. Zappa, Sly, Moby Grape, etc. Never forget seeing Moe Howard after thinking he had passed.
TV was so much better back in the day
Moe Howard was a great treasure and helped America endure the Great Depression
Mock if you must, but I love ‘Motor of Love’ thx.
Thx!
Loving John! John was the Beatles, really! Okay then! Love the song ‘I know, I know’ great song, heartfelt. Thx.
I love Now and Then
Nice review !.:)
Good discussion. I purchased the double cd set and love the new mix. I was very interested to hear your takes on the Deluxe. Well done, gentlemen.
I think we’re getting a new narrative, now MG is a John and Yoko project. Love pictures of both of them.
Intuition was always my favorite from this album
Me too.❤
loved the album since I got it as a gift when it came out. I was invited to play at Five Towns College Lennon concerts for three years. Each one, I did a track from the album!!
Great video guys. Chip is great as always. Still trying to find the hidden tracks lol 😝. The Uncut magazine and CD sampler is great. I miss the days of CD samplers. This one is great. Why the Paul Archive boxes don’t have at least 5.1 mixes is shocking.
Agree there is too much pushing of Yoko Ono on this package. If this was a John and Yoko album fair enough. I wonder if we'll get a "Walls and Bridges" ultimate box set. Agree also that Yoko should have her own box sets.
I think one for "Approximately Infinite Universe" would be awesome.
The book in the "Cube" was available for pre-order MANY months before the "Cube" was announced.
Yes, but not with the special print “Exclusive to the Cube.” 😉
@@Beatletoon true. But in the video the "Exclusive to the Cube" wasn't mentioned, and I didn't know that the book in the Cube was different. At least the text is available without spending $1300+.
What was the meaning behind the 666sign of the Anti Christ
CD1 with the 90 Tracks has something to do with the Hidden word Puzzle Game. Track 90 is one of the answers.
Track 90 on CD 1has a message that appears if your CD player is capable of displaying "CD Text."
17:30 - There's nothing mediocre about any of the songs on Mind Games. I just hated his falsetto on One Day (At a Time)
When Mitch says “production”, he is referring to mixing and mastering which isn’t really production as such. Production is what a producer does like he said. Working on tempos, arrangements, musicians parts, keys of songs, instrumentation etc…
You are correct. I was trying to clarify that. I just didn’t do it well. 😂
@@Beatletoon haha yeah you did. I think the confusion was the word production for both cases 👍🏻👍🏻
🙌🏻
Does anyone know if there is an 'Archive Edition' of 'Wings Over America' on vinyl ?
I don’t believe there is. They DID digitally remaster it and put out 180 gram black and color vinyl editions a few years ago. But no true archive edition as I can recall. The big archive box set was just CD’s.
Great review guys. Love the remix that Giles gave this album. A much brighter and fresher sound even compared to the tracks on the BOTR box set. No apologies needed about the song “Suicide”…..I love Elton’s song “I Think I’m Going To Kill Myself”….it is a song and it is catchy…..
Good discussion, gentlemen. Very enjoyable and you made me smile several times. 😂 Saturday has come and gone and my copy did not arrive. (That Day is Done...for me 😢.) Hey Mitch, I love your backdrop with the picture sleeves. Looks like the fantasy series? Nice.
Thanks. You are correct. I made all the frames myself. Easy DIY project and not very costly. There is a video on our channel where I take viewers through each one. Thanks for watching!
@@Beatletoon You're welcome. Very cool! I love what I can see in the video and will definitely check the video out that you refer to. 👍
I don't know if I'm more annoyed by the fact that they didn't remaster the video for this release OR the fact that while ordering from the McCartney site, you know what they had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to add to my order? MCCARTNEY III CD! Enough with that release already. Why is he pushing it so hard? It's good. I like it very much, but I'm getting into a place where I'm annoyed with it not because of the music but because of the push. Enough already, MPL.
I know how you feel, David. But are ya ABSOLUTELY SURE you don't want a copy of the McCartney III CD?? 🤡
It's fine, it's great, it's bloody Paul McCartney, piss off.😀❤
I reckon “One Hand Clapping” will make top ten on UK album chart. The backyard songs should have been on the CD.
Billy Joel did his "live in studio," although it did not come out legally until a few years ago on the PIANO MAN deluxe CD.
Tony here... One of my favorite Billy pieces, recorded live at Sigma Sound Studios. That actually helped get him signed to Columbia, because WMMR got tons of requests for 'Captain Jack' from that show, so they put it in rotation!
@@fab4free4all20 Yes, I happened to listen to it a week-or-so ago, and thought of the broadcast when hearing your excellent-as-usual podcast. (Up-and-coming recording acts doing mini-concerts at radio stations was a healthy practice 40-50 years ago, which undoubtedly was stopped by the record companies and managers.) The funniest part is when, after referencing his NY roots and the countless songs about the city, he asks whether are any songs about Philadelphia. Someone in the small audience replies "We Gotta Get Out of this Place."
Good show as always. Not on Facebook but I have a show request. You have not done a year in review in a while. May I recommend the year 1987 when The Beatles first came out on CD. Anyway thank you for your shows. Have a good day.
I would have loved to have rebought the blue album but no fckn way I'm sitting through "I want you" They could have put anything else on there, why that Hard pass
One wonders if there was some direction on the fate of Let It Be (film) way back when the planning for Get Back was being discussed. Michael L Hogg must have been initially miffed that Get Back could replace Let It Be.
Great review guys. Glad to hear from you again. Just watched Let It Be on Disney + and it looks and sounds amazing!
