Not only did the Beatles have limitations at the time with their own recording equipment - But had to be seriously mindful of the limitations of the average listeners record player - many of which would fly the stylus up in the air or cause the speaker to hum if ever they dared to go full on with the final mix of guitars, bass and drums! It is amazing that the deeper you dig into their recordings with new technology, the more depth, innovation and artistry there is to find.

I've been fortunate to have enjoyed The Beatles since 1963-64, and I hate to burst anyone's swelling over excitement. Now & Then is an Anthology related session song that was finished a few decades later. It's decent,
it's The Beatles, but all this will wear off too. Paul, Ringo,Giles did the best they could, and Peter Jackson's video adds
a fitting finale! But please end the hype, and drama. Giles resuscitated the Red
& Blue remixes, hoping he and Peter Jackson can do the same to the outdated dvd Anthology videos. It needs some life Gents! In the meantime we wait for Rubber Soul box set maybe 2025?

I’m not sure why there’s negative talk regarding this song from guys I respect who have podcasts on RUclips who review Beatle albums. This is not about technicality or sales anymore than it was when the Beatles first came out. It was a beautiful rendition of closing the chapter on the most gifted men to ever come to this earth.
Of course it was Paul’s baby!! John wrote it mainly to Paul. Just because he wrote it😮😮 after the Beatles break up does not make it a non-Beatles song.
Most of the solo work, George Paul, and John’s music sold based on the fact that they were all Beatles. Let’s face it as solo artists other than Paul weren’t that great. But when you hear “woman“ by John, very Beatles. John always loved “here there, and everywhere“ and I believe “woman“ was John’s rendition of the same idea. George did the same thing with “when we was fab” .
It don’t come easy by Ringo was definitely Beatles…flavor. Paul probably wrote Beatlesque music after the break up. I rejoice in the effect it is doing to young and old alike.
Of course now, and then was just a demo But give Paul credit for bringing the Beatles back to coming generations. By the way, I was one of those who wept through the whole video. Not because of the lyrical content, but the wonderful gift that was the Beatles. And today I am a better songwriter because of them.

I'd much rather they deliver on Deluxe versions of the original 13 albums than bothering with Greatest Hits compilations, and as an exercise in gathering up all the singles over two sets they muffed up by not including "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love." With the addition of the last Beatles single, the title "1967-1970" no longer makes any sense, and with everything going 5.1, what good are the 2009 remasters now...?

    • @fab4free4all20
      @fab4free4all20  Год назад

      Tony from F4F4A here...
      Thanks for writing!
Well... we will surely see deluxe version of the remaining catalog material. That's been more than hinted at by all parties in the Beatles organization. And the 2009 remasters will STILL be the "go-to" source for the "original mixes"; the ones that we grew up on. Many of us, myself included, have no real use for 5.1 at this point, since I have no space to set it up properly. While I'm not a big fan of "greatest hits" packages for many artists, but the 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 albums were the "gateway drugs" for many nascent Beatles fans in the early 70s. They hold a special place in many collectors' hearts. And "1" did the same for the next generation. I can't see them reissuing "20 Greatest Hits" any time soon, LOL. There is definitely a reason why 'FAAB' and 'Real Love' were not included. IMHO, the goal was to add more G.H,. tunes to each package, and to have taken up ten minutes of LP time with those two tunes on the new 'Blue' album would have been somewhat incongruous... and I'm not disagreeing that having 'Now and Then' wrap that album is a bit strange!

I don't mean to be a party-pooper, but my view of the Zoomer generation and their crying antics is far more cynical.
Sure, some of them may enjoy "Now and Then" and genuinely feel moved by it, but I think it's also important to remember that
these are the same kids who will "cry for views". If a song (or anything else) is trending at the moment, and a popular "content creator"
is seen crying in their video, hey presto, you suddenly have hundreds of similar crying videos, because that's now considered the "appropriate"
way to react to hearing this song.
When David Bowie died, there were thousands and thousands of young people all around the world, crying and lighting candles for their dead hero.
How many of them even knew who he was a week prior to his death? How many of them still listen to him today?
The answer is: not many. Being SEEN mourning the loss of David Bowie was the trendy thing to do THAT week, and that's what these little monsters
value the most. They don't care about anything. Not really. All they want is to raise their own stupid social media profile.
How long will they listen to "Now and Then"? Well, when's the next trendy thing coming around? Tomorrow?
