Intel Meteor Lake Powerhouse? ASUS ROG NUC 970 Mini Gaming PC Review
For the unaware, Intel passed the baton on its Next Unit of Computing (NUC) line-up of mini PCs to ASUS back in October 2023, marking Team Blue's exit from the mini PC segment that it launched back in 2013. Since then, ASUS has continued to build on the legacy of the NUC line-up with products such as the NUC 14 Pro. For today's video, ALKtech takes a look at the newly released ROG NUC 970, ASUS's first gaming-oriented NUC offering bearing the Republic of Gamers (ROG) moniker. Targeted at enthusiasts looking for a powerhouse of a gaming PC in a compact form factor, and packing Intel's range-topping Core Ultra 9 185H processor paired with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 Mobile GPU, watch on to se...

Why You didn't show the loading times of various applications and loading time of windows??
Excellent GPU, I've had it since launch. It is very silent, always cool. Very good performance, the OC frenquency regularly goes above the tech specs. Only downside, AMD raytracing is to forget for this generation once again.
I'm confused. What's the difference between this and the B650-E model. They seem almost the same.
Sata?
It has four SATA III ports!
@@ALKtech 👍
Good with Intel core i5 12600kf?
Absolutely, it'll work great with a 12600KF for 1080p gaming at decent FPS!
Hello bro, thanks for your video and good informations! May i ask you something? I was really scared reading the comments down bellow. I got this setup: Ryzen 7 7800X3D Asus TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS RTX 4060TI 32GBRAM 2x16, 6200mhz DDR5 WaterCooler Rise 360mm and more extra 4 fans 120mm Will i have many and considerable problems with performance/latency or overheating everything or it should be fine with maybe a slightly loss of performance? I hope you can reply to me, thank you again!
Hey there, do you already have this setup up and running? While I wouldn't recommend an A620 board for a 7800X3D, you might still get by seeing as this ASUS board is a more "premium" A620 board with better VRM cooling. I must caveat that I haven't personally had the chance to use a 7800X3D with an A620 motherboard thus far, so your mileage might vary. Would be interesting if any of the folks in the comments section could share their experiences if they have a similar setup!
Hello, they say that this board is not suitable for overclocking flagship processors, what motherboard should I get at the same price?
does it support ddr5 ram please tell me thanks for review ❤❤
Yes this board supports DDR5!
will this mobo run a elgato 4k60pro mk2 requirements are PCIe physical slot size: x4/x8/x16 PCIe bandwidth: PCIe 2.0 x4
I don't have money to upgrade my whole system for a single processor My processor is Intel core i7 4790k Z97-k mother board Yeah wanna upgrade from R9 290x to 4060 will eventually get after a few months Cause I'm tired of seeing DX 12 error Hopefully I'll get this GPU and bypass that issue and upgrade the system later
Yeah you could get this graphics card as a stopgap solution first, and eventually upgrade your entire system while still retaining the RX 4060!
@@ALKtechthanks
Can we use Ryzen 5 7600x in this motherboard
Yes you can!

@@syt9610 looks good, any reason why you went with a DDR5 6400 kit instead of DDR5 6000? Also, what graphics card will you be getting?
@@ALKtech I miss type that ram 6000mhz. I have my old3070 that gonna use
What is the difference between it and the MSI board?
Mostly slight differences in clock speeds, and the physical design of the cooler. Do you have a specific RTX 4060 model from MSI in mind?
Can you put a nvme m.2?
Yes you can, the board comes with two M.2 slots for NVMe drives!
excuse me for my lack of understanding, but if i used this board and had planned on using rtx 4070 ti super and a m.2 gen 5 ssd. would my graphics card performance suffer?
Yes, if you have your Gen 5 SSD installed in the first M.2 slot, the bandwidth of your graphics card slot will be halved and your RTX 4070 Ti SUPER will operate at PCIe 4.0 x8 link speeds instead, thereby impacting your graphics card's performance. I'd recommend just getting a Gen 4 SSD and installing it in the second M.2 slot to avoid this lane bifurcation issue!
For Ryzen 5 7600 ? And cooler master NR200P ? With RTX 4060
Yup this combo will work just fine!
Just bought this board on Amazon for cca. 180€..what a grab..coupled with Ryzen™ 7 7800X3D+NITRO+ AMD Radeon™ RX 7800 XT ...decent upgrade after almost 12 yrs rocking AM3+ platform.
About to do the same, any problems with the 7800x3d and motherboard? I’ve heard that it has some issues with 3d chips.
@@christianreyes2943 so far no problems, but i must mention that first start was a bit rough.PC wouldn't start without beeping which was related (i think so) to memory sticks improperly seated (must be alligned properly in assigned channels on the motherboard). After that no issues.
I have a gigabyte p850gm 850w 80+ gold with r 7 5800x3d and this gpu is the psu good enough?
Yup the Gigabyte P850GM's good enough for your setup!
Mann thanks for the video but im still confused can i pair that mbo with 7800x3d? İ wont do any overclocking to my cpu. And also 6+2+1 phases good enough for that cpu?and can i use full potential of it? İt has a 120 w tdp but it max uses 55 watts lol. İ hope you answer, you earned a sub, have a nice day!
This board will handle a 7800X3D like a champ, just make sure you've got a good CPU cooler!
@@ALKtech thanks! İ got a 360mm coolermaster LİQUİD cooler
@@KsKsksoksksk a 360mm's plenty of cooler for a 7800X3D. You'll be fine!
Does it support ryzen 8000 and 9000
Yes it will have support for Ryzen 9000 with a BIOS update! If you bought this board recently, it should have a BIOS that already has support for the Ryzen 8000 series APUs, otherwise you'll just need a BIOS update too, and you're good to go!
@@ALKtech ok thanks. I want just to make sure it does bc I'm planning to buy it for future upgrade. Thank you very much appreciated it and keep up the honest and good reviews
Wtf do you mean "ON A BUDGET"? THE BOARD COST ME 175 € LOL You're so detached from reality with these stupid titles
Its really not that good for the price
OIIIIII
thanks for video
Before I complete the build, I did a quick dry install. Minimal screws, nothing tightened. I noticed the heat shield at the top left hinders installation of my AIO cooler at the top. I have to move fans around and see what I can come up with. I’ll be back.
Which AIO are you using? Did you manage to get it all sorted out in the end?
Will be good enough for a 7800x3d ?
It should handle a 7800X3D just fine, though if you have additional budget, I'd probably spend a little more to get a board that has a better VRM setup!
I love it but price is way too high for using Laptop GPU.
Would a 13400f or 12400f fit in out of the box and then can i get like a 13700k or 13900k? I want a cheap mb and this one is in my budget
This board will work just fine with a 13400F or 12400F, though it'll very likely struggle with a 13700K/13900K due to its VRM setup. Actually if your intention is to upgrade further down the road, why not consider an AMD AM5 PC build instead? You could get a mid-range B650 motherboard and say, a Ryzen 5 7600, and eventually upgrade to a Ryzen 9000 series processor in due course! The Intel LGA1700 (12th/13th/14th Gen) socket is dead-end now, while AMD has committed to support AM5 for a few more years!
Heich "h" 😊
can i use with the INTEL CORE I5-14600K (14ª GERAÇÃO) "RAPTOR LAKE REFRESH" 14-CORE 2.6GHZ C/TURBO 5.3GHZ 24MB CACHE SKT1700 ? thanks hero.
Yes this will work with a 14600K!
Will with fit with my Z97-k mother board PCI 3.16??? I don't have money to replace the whole pc And i have Intel core i7 4790k If i get the 4060 i wanna use it on my current pc for now and change the rest of the specs later
Yes it will work with a Z97 motherboard with a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot - it can be a stopgap measure until you upgrade your motherboard and processor in due course!
@@ALKtech thanks
should i get the HYPER 212 - SPECTRUM V3 or this Hyper 212 Halo for 5600x ?
How big is the price difference between both CPU coolers where you're from? While I haven't tested the Spectrum V3 before, I'd think both coolers should perform similarly with a 5600X!
@@ALKtech the halo is more expensive 30$ more
@@zed908 I see. If budget is an issue, I'd just go with the Spectrum V3. The 5600X isn't difficult to cool and the Spectrum should do just fine!
is it good on 5600x or should i get the HYPER 212 - SPECTRUM V3 since its cheaper ?
Yup both coolers will handle a 5600X just fine - how big is the price difference between both coolers where you're from?
Gpu is butegull rgb is amazing❤❤
This looks sleek and so much desirable. 😅 if only I could afford it.
For i7 12th which is batter 4060 gaming oc or 4060ti gaming oc
ti i think
ti is like 20% more good
The 4060 Ti performs better than a 4060 for sure, how big is the price difference between both cards where you're from?
How will it perform with an I5 12400f?
It'll work great with a 12400F for 1080p gaming at decent FPS and graphics settings!
@@ALKtech what's the diff between eagle oc and gaming OC? And what'll be better for productive purposes apart from gaming 3060 12gb or 4060 8gb or anything of amd?
@@a_lex_editz the key differences lie in 1) the cooler design, where the Gaming OC has a slightly larger cooler than the Eagle OC and 2) clock speeds, where the Gaming OC has a slightly higher clock speed than the Eagle OC. The gaming performance difference between both cards will be negligible, and I'd go with the Eagle if you wanna save $! What kind of productivity work will you be doing? I'd stick with the 4060 over a 3060, as the 4060 has AV1 encoding capability, especially if you're into video editing and streaming!
@@ALKtech thank you.... How much performance difference will be there if I go with Zotac twin edge rtx 4060? Like the price diff is $35 according to Indian market
@@a_lex_editz very minimal I'd say - you might want to compare warranty durations too to see if there's any difference between Zotac and Gigabyte!
why is this one so cheap but hyper 212 still expensive?
Which Hyper 212 are you referring to? Cooler Master does make numerous variants of the Hyper 212!
I don't know if you'll answer, but I'm building a PC with this motherboard, a Ryzen 5 7600x and an Rx7700 XT, do you think it will support both? Thanks for the video.
Yup this board will work just fine with both a 7600X and 7700 XT! Am wondering though, any reason why you picked the Ryzen 5 7600X over the Ryzen 5 7600?
can I use a 13600k with this board
I wouldn't recommend it - this board is entry-level and best suited for low-end processors due to the weak VRM setup. A 13600K will very likely be thermal throttled and won't be able to perform at its full potential. You should look at mid-range B760 boards at the bare minimum!
I bought one. No issues at all. 7900x3d/ Strix 4090 oc.
Did you upgrade BIOS?
@@piotrj.451 Yes, 2214.
does this board support wifi
Nope, it doesn't come with built-in WIFI. You'll have to get a PCIe WIFI card or a USB WIFI dongle!
This is £99 in Amazon Prime sales, do I go for it for a cheap build gaming/office PC? Im upgrading from my very old Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 - i7 4770k
Sounds like a good price - pair it with a Ryzen 5 7600 or 7500F and throw in a mid-range graphics card like a 4060, and you'll be good for 1080p gaming at good FPS!
Can you connect Lian li strimer v2 to it? If so could you tell me which ones.
Yes you can, though it seems the Strimer V2 only comes in a 2x 8-pin variant, meaning you'll have one extra 8-pin connector left dangling, seeing as this card just requires 1x 8-pin power connector.
@@ALKtech thanks!
Very nicely explained all features
Hi, Can I setup 4 Ram 8GB on this mainboard? Can it support quad channels? thanks
Yes you can install four 8GB DDR4 RAM sticks on this board!
Does this work out the box on amd 7 7800X3D
Given that this board has been out in the market for some time now, it should support the 7800X3D out-of-the-box, unless you wind up buying really old stock that has been sitting on a shelf for a very long time (which seems unlikely).
Thank you very much! The best review of this mainboard ever (I watched all other of this board at youtube - yours is best)! Thumb up. TOP!!
whats screen cooling? min 1:38
Refer to 1:43 - the window with the exposed heatsink fins is what Gigabyte calls Screen Cooling. It allows more air to flow through the heatsink for better heat dissipation!
Budget Gamers? Dawaj na solówę.
Tempted to get this now the prices came down. Is it worth the $25USD extra over the likes of MSI PRO B760M-A WIFI DDR4 or Gigabyte B760M GAMING X AX DDR4?
What processor are you intending to use for your build? Personally, if I didn't care much about built-in RGB LEDs/board aesthetics, and wouldn't mind just a standard audio codec, I'd probably save the US$25 and get the MSI, which has a pretty decent VRM setup and should handle mid-range Intel 13th/14th Gen processors decently well.
@@ALKtech Haven't bought the CPU yet, just watching the prices. 12400F most likely, unless 12600KF comes up on sale or even an i7. Ordered the Strix - think the VRM, audio chipset and the WiFi antenna alone are worth it, and it seems better built. Couldn't care less for the LED and white theme.
@@NeRR2 cool. There's the Amazon Prime sale now, should see some decent discounts here and there for processors!
