UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 2024: This video was published before 48GB DDR5 memory modules were available - according to the ASUS specs page, this motherboard now supports up to 192GB of RAM with 4x 48GB DDR5 memory modules. In addition, "Zen 5" Ryzen 9000 series processors and "Zen 4" Ryzen 8000 APUs are now supported with a BIOS update that is available for download from ASUS's official website. @@jelly8594 For $200, you're much better off with a B650. Pretty sad that AMD is now the worse value. You can get a Z690 mobo for about $200, sometimes less. It's a much different story if you have a micro center nearby. Got a 12700k and Z690 TUF for $330.
I think with this TUF Gaming board, with its beefier heatsink, MIGHT just handle a 7800X3D just fine, perhaps with a small performance impairment. I wish I had a 7800X3D with which to do an actual test though..
@@ALKtech What I don't get is why they don't cut corners on things that really aren't needed, like onboard WiFi. Need WiFi in your build? Great... go buy a card or USB dongle then. @@gehtdichnixan1337 actually ASUS does make a non-WIFI variant of this board - the TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS (non-WIFI), which should be a couple bucks cheaper I'm guessing. Hello bro, thanks for your video and good informations! May i ask you something? I was really scared reading the comments down bellow. I got this setup: Ryzen 7 7800X3D Asus TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS RTX 4060TI 32GBRAM 2x16, 6200mhz DDR5 WaterCooler Rise 360mm and more extra 4 fans 120mm Will i have many and considerable problems with performance/latency or overheating everything or it should be fine with maybe a slightly loss of performance? I hope you can reply to me, thank you again!
Hey there, do you already have this setup up and running? While I wouldn't recommend an A620 board for a 7800X3D, you might still get by seeing as this ASUS board is a more "premium" A620 board with better VRM cooling. I must caveat that I haven't personally had the chance to use a 7800X3D with an A620 motherboard thus far, so your mileage might vary. Would be interesting if any of the folks in the comments section could share their experiences if they have a similar setup!
If you're looking at getting an A620 board, I wouldn't get any of the X-series CPUs (e.g. 7700X, 7800X3D etc) as you'd potentially be leaving performance on the table due to the weaker VRMs found on A620 boards. If you're getting say a Ryzen 5 7600 or Ryzen 7 7700, you could probably still pair them with a mid-range GPU, such as a 4070 or a RX 7700 XT to have a decent 1440p gaming rig. My two cents!
My Ryzen 5 7500F will arrive in a few days. I still haven't decided yet which motherboard to get. Will this be enough for 5700F? I am not into overclocking and those kinds os stuff. I will use the system mainly for gaming and office works. Or should I get at least a cheap B650M board like MSI PRO B650M-A Wifi or B650M DS3H from Gigabyte?
A 7500F will work perfectly fine with this board, given its 65W TDP! If you have the cash to spare for a B650 board though, I'd definitely look at a B650 board instead for more upgrade headroom in the future, especially since AMD has committed to releasing its next-gen processors (e.g Ryzen 8000) on the same AM5 socket! Is there a big price difference where you're from for this board versus say, the MSI/Gigabyte B650 boards that you mentioned?
@@ALKtech thank you for your response. I actually got a B650M Mortar Wifi earlier this afternoon. Will most likely upgrade to a higher end or newer generation processor in the future.
Sounds like a good price - pair it with a Ryzen 5 7600 or 7500F and throw in a mid-range graphics card like a 4060, and you'll be good for 1080p gaming at good FPS!
It should work with a 7600X, even though AMD's stated that the A620 chipset is designed for non-X processors...that said, I don't think PBO will be supported by this board as AMD never intended the A620 chipset to support overclocking!

65W TDP processors are basically AMD's non-X processor offerings, such as the Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 7 7700 and so on. That said, X-series processors and even X3D-series parts will still boot up and work with this board, just that the A620M's VRM configuration might not be able to supply decent amounts of power to such X-series chips to allow them to perform at their maximum potential!
It should, though personally I'd get a better motherboard, at least something with a B650 chipset and better VRMs to fully harness the potential of the 7900!
Nope that's not right - the board should come with a standalone I/O shield in a separate plastic package. You should check with the vendor that you purchased the board from!
Yeah. Though with the A620. AMD's sorta listed it as "officially" supporting 65W TDP AM5 processors only, where more powerful processor offerings may not be able to reach their maximum performance potential.
Are you referring to the processor heatsink? If so, it doesn't. When you purchase an AMD processor, some models come with a heatsink included, and some don't. Hope this answers your question.
Yes you can, though you might encounter throttling issues due to the weaker VRMs that A620 boards have. If you're getting a 7700X, I'd probably spend a bit more to get a B650 motherboard at the minimum!
