  • NVIDIA's refresh of its mid-range GPU line-up is now complete with the launch of its latest "Ada Lovelace" GPU offering - the GeForce RTX 4060. Sporting 3072 CUDA cores, 8GBs of 128-bit GDDR6 RAM and a PCIe 4.0 x8 bus interface, the RTX 4060 comes with support for NVIDIA's latest iteration of its AI-powered upscaling technology, DLSS 3.
    For this video, ALKtech unboxes a non-MSRP RTX 4060 graphics card that sports a factory overclock - the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 GAMING OC 8G. Sporting a WINDFORCE cooler design with alternate spinning fans and direct contact copper heat pipes to keep temperatures at bay, the GAMING OC 8G represents the mid-range in Gigabyte's GeForce RTX 4060 product stack.

    Looks awesome but thats too much cooling for a RTX 4060. I think a dual fan setup is enough and thus reducing the cost might be a better move if you ask me.

    • @ALKtech
      @ALKtech  5 месяцев назад +1

      I do agree actually - given how little power the 4060 consumes and the amount of heat it generates, a dual fan solution would work just fine for any mainstream user. That said, I guess it's standard practice for card manufacturers to release entry-level, mid-range and high-end variants for any particular GPU, with bells and whistles such as a souped-up cooling solution especially for the higher-end parts!

    • @myrtlekenazjanairo9411
      @myrtlekenazjanairo9411 4 месяца назад

      Thank God it has 2 hdmi ports lmao! I'm actually buying this card for my build. I'm still using a Haswell CPU and a gtx 1050 and a laptop that I borrowed from my sister with an RTX 4050 in it. it's been like 10 years since i last built this old pc and I dont care what other say about my choice in GPU because 1080p is just right for me. I can't buy an expensive monitor myself and I already got 2 1080p 24inch monitors. I'm also considering the Arc A750 because that GPU is soooooooo much cheaper than this Gigabyte one but it still not that stable enough and I dont tinker or troubleshoot that much so I'll be willing to spend money on a stable GPU with nice cooling even though a triple fan config is a bit overkill for a 4060. At least I can just slap it on a new build without worrying. RX 7600 is also good but I'll take Frame gen at the cost.

    • @ALKtech
      @ALKtech  4 месяца назад +1

      @@myrtlekenazjanairo9411 do note that your Haswell processor would bottleneck the 4060's performance, though it'll be a big step-up from a GTX 1050 I'm sure! Had a GTX 1050 myself sometime back 😂.

      @@ALKtech Yes. I already purchased a Ryzen 5 5600, MSI B550m Mortar Max and 32gb of ram (2x16). 5600 is still a solid CPU and I am not really interested on b650 because the price is stupid expensive + ddr5. Theres also intel 12th gen but here in our country I can save that $40-$60 on the GPU and go AMD. My Haswell needs a rest already lmao.
      Edit: If you are wondering why the 32gb of ram instead of 16gb, I open a lot of chrome tabs for work and a lot of spreadsheets. 16gb isnt enough for me. I've already experienced so many freezing due to lack of ram. I open 40+ chrome tabs and 5-10 exel sheets + 10 google sheets + messenger + spotify. When I game on 16gb of ram theres no problem but on working hours those 16gb of ram is doomed for me.

      @@myrtlekenazjanairo9411 A Ryzen 5 5600 is plenty of processor for a RTX 4060 - with your 32GBs of RAM, you won't have to upgrade your PC for some time.
      I personally have a 5600 on my test bench that I use for benchmarking purposes still 😂And if you ever want to do an upgrade, it helps that a 5800X3D still trades blows with the best gaming CPUs on the market today, and hopefully can be had at good prices on the secondhand market further down the road. I personally would work towards a "bigger" upgrade, with a new processor/mobo/RAM and perhaps a RTX 4070 or better. My take is that the performance jump from a RTX 2060 to a RTX 4060 might not be justified given that you're still using a 9700K which would in all likelihood hold back the 4060's performance, especially given the price that you'd have to fork out for a RTX 4060!

      The power draw figures seem to be a software issue - I've read reports out there that the actual idle power draw from the PSU by 4060s are well within expected amounts (i.e.~10W or so). Not sure if the issue has been fully fixed as I no longer have a 4060 with me to do a follow-up test!

      Hey there, it's likely you'll see some form of FPS increase versus a GTX 1080, but do note that your i7-8700 and it's motherboard supports the PCIe 3.0 standard, meaning that the RTX 4060 will be somewhat bottlenecked and won't be able to perform to its maximum potential - meaning to say, you could be looking at a smaller FPS uplift that in my opinion, wouldn't make it very worth it. My personal take is to work towards a full system overhaul with a new processor, RAM and motherboard too if possible!
