I only knew of one guy who had made them custom for around $200 - and he never repsonded to my inquiries. So I'd say no...

Yeah - the Kistler's are hand-made, but even when they're out of stock they usually ship within a week or so. But, if you love the Benkei, you may not like the Kistler. Totally different rods. The Benkei was one of my least favorite rods.

@@AaronHuntFishing Yeah nevermind what I said, yesterday morning I was fishing the jig and that huge one bit, my knot broke off though lol. I saw him still fighting after the fact and he jumped, good ol 5 - 6 pounder is still alive and kicking.

yeah, spinning sett-ups are better for that application i think.

@@AaronHuntFishing No I was on a spinning setup when I tried it. I had the same Thill floats in the vid. I heard higher quality floats have a brass ring that allows the line to easily slide.

could be - the point remains out of 40+ BFS rods now, these are 2 out of the 3 that have broken. And neither of those made it past 2 trips... several of mine have 50+ trips in all conditions, no issues.

For me it would be the Shimano Aldebaran. If you need true sub-1gram performance, upgrade the bearings, and maybe add a spool. But it handles the upper end better than any other reel that can do the stupid-light baits.

Maybe you got a bad sample. I was just using mine again earlier this week. Flawless, throwing light mule jigs well past what the Silver Feather could manage.

On those super light baits, a "fishable" distance is all i care about. 15 yards is plenty. I might have to pick up an Aurora. Been thinking about it for a while.

@AaronHuntFishing take it with a grain of salt, some of the groups I'm in for bfs have noticed a bit of a qa or qc issue. I've had 0 issues, but it would be too cold when I travel through your neck of the woods to let you try mine. After a friend of mine got his arc gravity bfs in, we compared casting, and he liked the control for breaks on the aurora. I've just dipped my toes into sub 1/16 and wish I'd have started there, power bfs is fun, normal bfs is fun, but I really missed my ul steelhead and trout fishing from NY as a kid, can't wait until I'll have time for it again. Aliexpress had an aurora for $31 yesterday. If you want to get one really cheap, now is the time.

Pick your favorite light braid. use some 6" fluro as a leader. I've been partial to Seaguar for the last 8 months or so for my lines. Varivas is also awesome.

Awesome. The Venom wasn't durable enough for my use, which is why I eventually landed on the CU Double. Ace Hawk's customer service has been tremendous.

I'm not sure what the plan is so far with these, but I was very happy with the initial trip. Three versions so far, with medium being the lightest. I'm sure it's the three most common power rods Kistler sells.

Appreciate the comment. I will say though, that I've since learned there is a SLIGHT difference in the brakes on the PX, but not enough to justify the price increase.

Video coming out today - I'm kind of shocked how good it is, but at the same time since I've been fishing Kistlers for a couple years, I'm not surprised - if that makes sense. But a very good "Power BFS" option that has a fast action and a lower price tag..

Nikko is my go-to, but I've been tryign to use other stuff this year.

Pretty sure it is facing up for right handed reels - which is a large majority of what's used in the US market. So guys like us have to deal with it being on the wrong side... these Kyrios have a name on each side... but the Kistler name is up for right handed reels.
