  • Join me as I head out to the highly-pressured spillway for a Bait Finesse Dinkfest! Today, I take advantage of the quiet after heavy rains to try my luck in waters higher and muddier than usual. Armed with my Abu Garcia ALC BF7 on a Kistler Hunt BFS rod, I start off with an HH Customs 1/8 ounce Chatterbait, hoping to reel in some trout or smallmouth bass.
Throughout the day, I switch up my lures and hooks to navigate the debris-filled waters and tackle the numerous small bites I'm getting. From missed hooksets to finally landing a few rock bass and micro smallmouths, it’s a day full of action and adjustments.
Despite the challenges, including navigating poison ivy and heavy muck, the joy of fishing and the thrill of the unexpected keep me going. Watch as I share tips on handling tough conditions, the importance of rod sensitivity, and the excitement of catching these feisty little fighters. Whether you're a seasoned angler or new to Bait Finesse fishing, there’s something here for everyone. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more fishing adventures!

Dinks are better than skunks any day. Are hooksets more difficult with the BFS setup as opposed to a more rigid rod? Just wondering if the flex makes it more challenging. I had 2 ultralights here for trout, and switching between them was always a trick. One was like a wet noodle, and the other is my go to Okuma Celilo. I have noticed how the flex matters when I'm trying to get that initial hookset, but these are not BFS of course. Just wondering. Take care Aaron👍

It definitely does - part of it for me is waiting a bit on the bite - i sometimes get amped up and react too quickly. I think in this case I just has a lure they didn't really want . When i switched to the spinnerbait with a larger hook I had no issues.
