Abbey Road sounds incredible even to this day. Not just because of the music but the jump in sound quality was just insane. It showcased all their musical talents, especially Ringo who I always thought their production never did his skills justice prior to Abbey Road. Maybe Revolver

I was always aware of the part Sting played in the making of *Brothers in Arms.* What I didn’t know was that Dire Straits had also recruited Omar, who had also accompanied Sting in 1985, to add his drum stylings.

Not much on how Terry Williams felt after having all his parts re-recorded. Hard to imagine why he stayed with the band to tour. Paycheck's a paycheck, I guess...

Omar Hakim was flown in to replace Terry Williams drums. I think the drums sound like a drum machine on this album.

this album should be release in SACD Audiophile format, original CD is not good because of the loudness war. Luckily, I have original leaked master tapes in DSD format. That version is the best.

Great album, all the Dire Straits albums have an amazing sound quality to be fair.

That first bassline sound reminds me of Super Metroid "Brinstar" level.

You gave great details about Bruce, who was brilliant. But you left off "Qunicy Jones" a major oversight, without Quincy, Bruce would not have had the successes that he did. Even Bruce (RIP) gave credit to Q.

Led Zeppelin released Led Zeppelin I on Sunday January 12,1969.The same day that the NY Jets upset my Baltimore Colts in Superbowl III I was 15 at the time and turned 16 that following April.

For DireStraits fans (and others) I recomend to read the Dire Straits`s bass player`s John Illsley book. Many many insight facts and stories about this album and all the history of this band.

I have that album on vinyl and it still blows your head. The sound is very punchy. Like Thriller.

Where was reverb ultimately added in the mixes?

I think it's their most " honest " album after they got away from their own explosion of the first two albums, tours, and mania, and were able to exhale. Then they were " off to the races " again. Thanks for posting.

Very interesting documentary! Brothers in arms is not my favourite Dire Straits album although it contains with Money for Nothing and the title track one of the best Dire Straits songs ever. The Studio at Montserrat must have been a nice place. For me as a big Rolling Stones fan it has a special meaning. Mick and Keith ended their so-called third world war fight there and started to produce their 1989 comeback album Steel Wheels. Unfortunately this studio doesn't exist anymore because of a big volcanic eruption that totally destroyed this venue.

A million bucks for an album 'written' by dudes who did not study music? Top world class players that can't play in tune or in time? 280 tracks for a track that sounds like an ambitious student mid term exam scoring a c- ? I have listened to Up all Night and the bass is way too heavy and muddy, the kick drum is undefined and is mixed badly, the guitars are bland and with sloppy playing.... Wow, I could have sworn that most 70s' artists' abilities, technical and musical were far beyond what these two helmets portrayed them to be.
