This album is my 3 year old son’s favourite. We’ve been listening to it everyday, sometimes multiple times a day on repeat. I’ll never get tired of album. There’s so much soul & musicality in this album.
After years of DSOTM being my favorite album of all time I realized that WYWH is my favorite album of all time, its sound is timeless, melancolic, bombastic, marvelous.
For me personally this was PF’s most important album. I was a young kid, listening to hardrock mostly. I went on a holiday with my parents and my sister to Italy where I bought two cassette tapes. One of those tapes was an unofficial recording of this album. I hadn’t heard anything from them yet. I just knew I was going to like it. The first opportunity for me to listen to the tape was when we drove home from Italy to the Netherlands. I will never forget my reaction. I expected a hardrock band, but instead I heard a synth chord and all sorts of ‘noises’, slowly getting louder, but even after the drums kicked in it was still quite and soothing. It hypnotised me. And then the voices. And even a saxophone solo! I became a Pink Floyd fan that day. I think I was 12 years old. 🥰
I love stories like this. I'd tell you mine re PK but It'd take a month of Sundays. After Dark side of the Moon, it took me quite a few years to fully appreciate WYWH, as I felt it lacked the depth of DSOTM. Now, decades later, I feel it's every bit as good, for the fact that it is so different by comparison. That's important as the last thing a band should do is to get stuck in a musical rut. Pink Floyd's music was extremely diversified, throughout the years;)
Awesome video… would love to see you guys do one on PF’s criminality underrated Animals album… lot of behind the scenes conflict making that one for sure
I used to think Stéphane Grappelli was featured on the "downward whirl of strings" just before Gilmour's guitar intro on Wish You Were Here - a moment that lasts only about two seconds, of course! :)
LEUKOPHOBIA; that's the word that came to my mind while watching this documentary. And it's so ironic that the main color for this album cover is WHITE. Because "LEUKOPHOBIA", as everyone knows, is the fear of the color white. Seeing or thinking of this color can make you feel sick, you may even go out of your way to avoid it. Among artists "writers or composers", it's the phobia of the blank page, where no inspiration seems satisfying.
@@mixingmasteringonline good question... i regret it for him... what was he doing????... man.. goes to show... not for the faint of heart being around genius... its not.... you can cry after its on tap 3:41 e... Thats the magic trick... do what you have to to get it on tape...yeah.. not for crybabies

That is so sweet. My dad did the same for me, and I turned out to be a musician. Lol 🎶🙂

Beyond music. Superhuman even.

Adventures in musical discovery, are so life affirming.

Phantastic round-up!!
Thank you!

Very true, would be a great one to do!
I've always been curious about the recording sessions of Animals. Doesn't seem as well documented as DSOTM and WYWH
@@mixingmasteringonline I hope you do!
Awesome video!! I never seen that picture at 6:23
Cheers!

Love it. Thanks MMO.
Thanks! 😃
Nice video, well done
Thank you!
This is amazing! Would love to see a video on Ok Computer. Keep up the great work
Thank you, Ok Computer definitely in the works! 🙂
Gilmour had 72 pickups on his guitar! That's a lot !
Ha Ha, I see what you did there 🤣
😂
Great video. Where are are the synth solo parts at the end from?
Thank you! They are from a stripped back version of ‘Shine on’.
🤩👏
Will we be getting one for The Wall?
Dr now think Syd suffered from schizophrenia. Quite sad my friend deveolped it in his 20s sometime it doesnt show until later in life
It’s highly likely he did I think.
Who let Syd into Abbey Road Studios?
It's not a place you can just walk in, y'know, especially if you are shaved like an egg and brushing your teeth.
It's a good question! I presume someone must have let him in that knows him but then you'd have thought the band would have been told. Who knows..

Alan parsons.. sorry... busy.
I know, I wonder if he regrets that.
The thought of Roger hovering over his shoulder for months again. Nope.
Ha.. so what gig did Parsons take instead???
