3400 games? In actuality its close to 4500, maybe even 5000 (a definite list still is hard to come by). Not counting PC and even without the PS2's BC, the console still has the biggest library ever. I will always say this because..........lets be honest, its true in many ways........once the Internet got involved as standard, gaming went downhill. Sure, there are exceptions but overall, there is no library, love, inovation or passion that can be compared to the PS1 (and especially PS1) library. DLCs, On-Disc Content (always remember Street Fighter vs Tekken), Day One crap, ALWAYS online (Gran Turismo Sport or Gran Turismo 7) and stuff like that are major contributors for why gaming is nowhere near of what it used to be. It got way too mainstream. Add major levels of censorship on top of it (remember that Playstation is now in California and really cracked down on it and yes, censorship is ALWAYS bad), then there is another reason for why gaming after 6th Gen is more "meh" than anything else. Only the Switch and Indies can keep it together (and Nintendo does not censor third party, which is a major W) because without those, i would have gone "Old-School Only" a long time ago. For me, 4th Gen (SNES, MegaDrive/Genesis) up to 6th Gen (PS2, X-Box, Gamecube) are the golden age of gaming and will never be beaten.

The only games I've been playing on modern consoles are..........older games! I have plenty to play for a lifetime on Genesis, SNES, Dreamcast and PS2. New consoles are gonna have to come up with something real special in order to get my money. Photorealistic graphics mean nothing to me as I've actually come to prefer 2d stuff.

PC has beaten PS2 flawlessly with PCSX2 Emulators. You can also plug it to any CRT TV OR MONITOR and play in 4k at the CRTs. (CRTs are not limited to fixed resolution)

Retrotink 4k with HDR enabled is unmatched, it's one of the best experiences I've had, it's a shame that most of those commenting can't afford to buy the device.

i miss my ps2

I'm an esport enthusiast. I love the more competitive focused side of gaming, yet I still have my ps2 plugged in with an old crt simply because even though I still actively play competitive shooters, I dont like how most of the new story-oriented games are sorta mimicking the online experience, forcing you to be online to play and continuously asking you to buy their latest DLC or download their latest patch (just to name a few issues). Also back in the day the limitations brought by the era and the hardware pushed the developers to bring their A-game and to use their max creativity, nowadays sky is the limit with the newest most cutting edge game engines around, thereby we're not thrilled by anything anymore and most games look like a xerox of a xerox. Just my 2 cents :>

I think all of the current issues with modern gaming stem from not being restricted to physical media and the disk or cartridge being the whole game, self contained, unpatchable. There wasn't any rhetoric about the game getting better or worse after release.

i stopped playing, wish i hadn't , wish i never went to xbox. now their new series controllers are so small, literally smaller and less puffer then xbox 360 controllers. it's clear this is not for me

the worsttttt games ever created were on ps2, ps3, and psp. i feel sorry for sony guys. such awful, ugly, and underpowered consoles pumping out horrifically bad 3d. Super Nintendo for example holds up great today.

Ive been playing ddr and yakuza and its still great. I refuse to buy remasters now. I even bought a PS2 slim and its actually a slim. lol I forgot how small it was. My last favorite system was the 360 and I bought them all. I have a ps5 but I rarely play games on it. Ghost of tsushima was great then I beat it an didn't play again. No ps5 pro for me either or any other mid gen system. I can play the waiting game because Im busy gaming.

PS2 is the G.O.A.T. Thank God for emulation. PS2 games are meant to be played at 1080p with no interlacing or blur. I'll do without the disc rot and hardware failures thanks.

I have my ps2 and ps1 hooked up to my pvr crt tv at this moment. I have lots of retro handhelds and a gaming pc that can emulate it all, but there's just something special about playing those older games on the native hardware.

Finally someone else who realises we have the power to chose what year we want to live in

i can't find actual real PS2 games in my country (Iran) but having a real PS2 with some softmodding and some sailing on the seven seas , i can also play PS2 games like its 2004 (or 14 depending on games i got) on my CRT

I've got a Maxtor HD advance 3.0 installed on my PS2 with loads of games but have lost the DVD that gets me into them. I'm useless with Tech is there anyone who can help me and tell me wot i can do. please I'm really sad that I can't get into my favourite games that to me are irreplaceable .

I collect and play xbox 360 games atm. But the screen tearing in many games really annoys me. I have a ps2 aswell with a 720p adapter. Why ps2 for you over say ps3?

Like last night i helping my husband get a game screen shot for his back around and then i look back my screen shots gone poof I was like i didn't even delete them the heck i was up all night trying fix and I even tried call Xbox support but I got some saying they got deleted and i said i said i never uploaded them just one for my husband for his backround like the heck man it doesn't make any sense cause me and my husband played on a share account 😞😭😞

Perfect video. Ive come to the conclusion that I have to move away from Xbox because ever since the Xbox One the consoles are paperweights without the internet. If I ever need to reinstall a new harddrive or reset the console years from now I don't want to worry about it not working because of an activation requirement. If it doesn't work offline 100% then I'm staying away from it from now on.

Generally speaking, stylized games like Jak and Daxter, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot benefit the most from emulator enhancements. Zelda Windwaker looks like a complete remaster just by bumping the render resolution. The cartoon/cellshaded style lends itself nicely to upscaling.

Hello! I am 41 years old, I am Argentine. I think I have the best of all three worlds, psp, ps2 and xbox 360. I only play online games on the PC (fightcade 2) My collection is small but in my eyes it is pure gold. Nice video, thumbs up!

Fun fact if you want to play l o t r the two towers At 60 FPS Then you want to play the game on dolphin as the game cube version targeted 60 But it has lower quality FMVs So it's still not perfect But better than playing the game at 30

I feel the same way, I have a lot of consoles from NES/SNES/N64/GB/PSX/PS2/PS3/XBOX/XBOX360/SG/SS and hundreds of games for each console, for me it's about Nostalgia but also about Cheating peripherals like Game Genie/Game Shark/PAR/CB I'm old school and new gamers will never understand the thrill of screwing around with games to make them more enjoyable with those devices. I just can't get into newer consoles like PS4/5 partially because the hassle of getting the consoles when they were released and frustration of having to pay 200% markup just to get your hands on one or getting invited to purchases one but never making it to the front of the virtual que which happened to me no fewer than 4 times for the PS5 so I'm bitter about that and won't buy one even though I could probably get one now at my local electronics store. I still play a lot of PS2 games to this day which probably one of my 2 my favorite consoles along with SNES.

Still playing my PS2 in 2024 as well. Started Ghosthunter and Nanobreaker last weekend and I've been having a blast as well.

That “I don’t want to do chores, I just want to play” part is exactly what I’ve been feeling for a long time now. I am also tired of it all. Tired of companies treating their consumers like they are a bunch of idiots. And so I’ve become more picky with my choice of spending time. Great video.

Good video man I feel the same way about modern games.I built my PS2 library 12 years ago. I had hella fun digging through bargain bins looking for PS2 games. No one wanted PS2 games back then. I remember thinking to myself that someday people are going to want to collect for this system. I'm sitting on a gold mine. I have all the heavy hitters.

I like the PS2 but struggle to find games that interest me. I've played some of the classics like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus (and some PS3 rereleases: God of War 1+2, Okami) but despite the massive library I'm just not drawn to what I've seen - despite wanting to because you're so right!
