@@DrSnak3 exactly. Starting CoD4, there is a whole lot of files for loading screen movies (yes, yes! they all have different audio tracks per file for each langauge!), localized_*insertlanguagehere*.iwd, then we take zone folders for each language (english, german, spanish, italian, russian, japanese, polish). And just following the example of cod4, this is a real bloat from around 7-8 gigs to 26 gigs. For refence - CoD4's english zone folder is about 2.4gigs, english files in main folder are almost a gigabyte, and english loading screen movies are taking around 1.3 gigs. Put these number together, multiply by at least 5 or 6 languages. Multiplying it all by 5 gives me the result of 23.5 gigs. So we've most likely got English, German, Spanish, Italian and French language inside this "tiny little" package.
You would think these companies would like to lower game sizes to save the planet from waste of SSDs. Smaller files = people are less likely to buy another SSD and eventually throw it away
So I believe the bigger install size is for two reasons 1: the games are 64 bit now on the ms store 2: it forces you to download ALL THE LANGUAGE PACKS instead of letting you pick
And we have plenty of localizations - English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese (and the size of each zone folder for each language is big enough for all cod games to get bloated, not to mention loading screen videos with different audio tracks for each language also main_*insert language here.iwd size) As for cod1 and coduo, we have language related pk3 files, for cod2 - IWDs with each language. The list goes on. 64bit executables should be around a few megabytes at most, so we do not account it in the download size.
Did some calculations on cod4's example. At least 5 languages + common files do bloat the game up to 26 gigs. No doubts here MS Store is forcing us to download not needed language packs.

The only sort of crossplay they could do is Microsoft store to Xbox app with PC game pass, cause the console games are too full of hackers, not to mention 360 servers are too old to incorporate crossplay in general. Microsoft would need to port the games to new servers and get rid of the 360, like they did with Halo and made the MCC for example.

I guess if the build tools are also running in 64-bit then it *could* explain the file size difference with cases like using the standard "int" keyword to define data that gets written to files during the build process. However I highly doubt this would make anywhere as much of a difference as what we're seeing. Also it was absurd to have Ghost remain full price since launch but seeing it full price again on the microsoft store is just laughable. Dlc is still a separate purchase, except now you can only buy the entire season pass together for 10$ less than the game itself. Another laughable pricetag is MW3 at 53.99 CAD for the base game and 80.99 for the DLC, or MW2 for 26.99 with a 39.99 DLC.
They did this to with Infinite warfare and modern warfare remastered. They are on there own servers for some weird reason. I would say stick with the steam versions!
It's the patents. The patented rigging software that profiles youre psyche state in mm to sell you skins, modifies all data in real time created by your processor, and effectively rigs the game.. They are putting the patented software that is a lot more finalized now as compared to when they first started working on it in 2009 into the new versions on the ms store. That's why the file sizes are different.
I've heard a lot of things that CoD does actually do to rig your game experience but this one right here is just way too far, how tf will a game "profile your psyche state in mm to sell you skins" how does that even work?
COD 2 and Classic have been empty since wayyy back in the day when gamespy closed, so it’s not surprising that they didn’t patch it out unlike.. the other ones which is odd. But the way they handled these ports are absolutely unordinary, coming out of left field…

@BirdsTheWerd didn't play the campaign but back in 2014-2015 I played ghosts multi-player & had a feeling it would be the last CoD that had the true cod4-bo2 feel, I was right ✅️ 😢 bo3 was good but everything since has been a joke

The servers have been dead. Mw2 on pc doesnt work at all and cod 4 has fake players. Its hard to notice at first, but in the cod 4 lobbies theyre all fake players with real looking names, they even type generic shit in the chat to make them look real. When you watch the kill cams you'll notice.
@lostsaves it was broken for years. Aiming was tied to ping and all the servers had terrible ping. I actually just downloaded it and played for an hour and it worked. Mine didn't connect to Xbox like yours though
There’s still a small community in cod4. The bots are the ones with zero ping. It’s usually half bots half real players. But there’s servers that fill up every day during certain hours.
no body likes the microsoft store lmao, but yeah all these games just work on windows 10/11 i have zero issues running the games, also it shouldnt surprise anyone i been telling people microsoft owning activision is a bad thing microsoft always shut down studios, original disc version of the pc version was on a dvd
It’s not my favorite place, but I’m not the idiot who decided the world’s questions and answers should be hosted on a single point of failure and the diverse forums/fan sites should all eventually be shut down. Sometimes the thing you find only shows up in search results via a Reddit page. I could have also not used windows, but for this video it was required to cover these
The problem being there’s 15 years’ worth of servers there should be no reason to cut off contact from in the first place. Microsoft keeps doing this with Windows Store releases and the games never get off the ground as a result
@@lostsaves If Microsoft has made dedicated servers for these games and they are separated from Steam it is a good thing. People haven’t played a lot of these old CoDs on PC because they were not safe to play on Steam.
Steam is the best place as CoD 2 has always worked no extra download needed only issue I had is it stopped launching, all I had to do was turn my mic on then it launches and it doesn't even need to be active when in game the mic just needs to be plugged in (Kinda wish CS would only launch if you have a working microphone connected), Either way I can usually find a server on CoD 2 if I'm playing at a regular time same with WaW I did have to download something for CoD 4 but it has servers active 24/7 from what I can see plus you can find an empty bot lobby grind the M14 and G3 to red tiger lmao. I mean… I’d have no reason to assume they magically broke the LAN modes and how many people are hoping to do CoD1/2/4 LANs in 2024 that don’t already have the games?
i see they removed the valve anti cheat on the steam version of the game. maybe they plan to upgrade the games to use the xbox network backend on the steam version as well, just guessing and have to log to microsoft account just like the other microsoft games as halo and forza
Microsoft (Xbox) sucks, so I'm not surprised by these lazy ports. Also, the Microsoft Store is one of the worst stores I've ever used. AUR / Pacman is much more advanced (even as community software without enough funding to thrive) and I'm not exaggerating.
That’s not true at all. First, they’re not updated. These are the vanilla launch versions of the games. Secondly, both CoD4 and MW2 could be run upwards of 250FPS without issue. MW3 originally had a hard cap of 90FPS but community mods unlocked that years and years ago. Regardless these are not updated and include no such fixes.
no hate but due to these glitch fx and its sounds, it was so stressful to watch this video.. half of these fx would have been enough, but I enjoyed the video though Thumbs up :)
@ happens more often than not. It’s been very well documented the old cod games on steams are unsafe due to security risks involving the older iwx and T engines iw and treyarch worked on. Steam never patched it and to this day any game prior to 2019 (even Cold War was rumored to have the same vulnerabilities) is a major security risk. Maybe not EVERYTIME you play those games you’ll get infected but it will happen if you continue to and don’t try to protect yourself to the best of your ability.
The only reason I even mentioned this is to make sure your viewers don’t think it’s safe to play those games as they please on steam. If you don’t believe me you could find plenty of other videos, posts, tweets etc about it on RUclips, google, x, instagram etc.
Lets say they come to pc gamepass,,, then the steam and ms store is heavily segregated. And even then why not just use the *cough *cough the or "legit" method on the community clients that also have custom plugins and scripts. My wish list for the ms store version is not only the steam versions get patched but give us 64bit so games can utilize more then 4gb of ram and on top of that if they didnt break the mod support on the older titles it will allow the engines to be pushed farther. I know black ops 1 was severely limited and so was black ops 2 with modding mostly because those engines already hit most limitations. Also curious how they will habdle black ops 3 since it has steam workshop support. Does having gamepass prevent you from mods!?!. Also im not very familar with the ms store but far as im aware you cant pick and choose what parts of the games you want to install. So if i dont want campaign in black ops 3 or what ever game do i have to download the full thing?
The only reason they added it to MS Store is to add it on Game Pass for PC. Enjoyers will enjoy, haters will hate. Also, the multiplayer will at least be alive with real people so that’s an advantage. CoD ain’t gonna die if Xbox adds it to PC Game Pass, it will increase the Game Pass subscribers by a lot. People want games, companies want profit… Just buy it from other sources or straight up pirate it if you’re that salty…
>Spends video comparing to existing copies where the community has spent the past 15 years keeping the games alive "haters will hate" Boy, game brand loyalty really rots the brain, huh?
@@FelinePlays "If you hate Xbox that much" Who said anything about hating? And what salt are you referring to in the original comment? It seems you're the one with the big feelings, not me. I investigated a weird version of the game and made a funny video about it. Why are YOU so upset by me pointing out basic facts about the games? You okay? Need to go for a walk? Or talk to someone?
There are still communities for these old games, and for good reason, they are timeless. Every cod now is made to be played until a new one releases, they are made to be sold and only sold, not enjoyed.
@ no they did not. I know this because all my saves are still there from 5 years ago. Most likely because I disabled auto upload. Or choose for it to be local only. RUclips actually does something very similar if RUclips channels go inactive. You’re account get deleted after a bit of time
I had all of my local copies deleted, as did a ton of people in the replies to my video on this. They’re gone. We never chose to delete them, we all assumed they’d still be there. Wiped. Gonezo. No way to recover.
I’m pretty sure he’s just simplifying things for… some reason I can’t think of yet Since Activision owns Call of Duty, and now XBOX owns Activision, I think it’s pretty fair to just say it as XBOX simply buying Call of Duty. Especially given that CoD is basically their flagship series at this point.

The only thing I can think they could of added is controller support
They did this to with Infinite warfare and modern warfare remastered.
They are on there own servers for some weird reason.
I would say stick with the steam versions!
COD4 bought yesterday from Microsoft Store. Unable to patch, unable to install COD4x....just asked for refund. This is pure SHIT!
That's why the file sizes are different.
can you share link or video? please this interesting
@@bladethewitch1442 it's all over my channel, gameplay examples I have up on my channel.
Touch grass
EOMM would be server side, do you honestly think ActiBlizz would be dumb enough to let the code for that leak to the end user
I've heard a lot of things that CoD does actually do to rig your game experience but this one right here is just way too far, how tf will a game "profile your psyche state in mm to sell you skins" how does that even work?
Shoutout to h2m horizon mod
Wish it could get another resurgence! Its all ready
And activision still not bring prestige system to CoD4 PC
the glitching was good until it got repetitive
good ass video though dropped a fat like
COD 2 and Classic have been empty since wayyy back in the day when gamespy closed, so it’s not surprising that they didn’t patch it out unlike.. the other ones which is odd.
But the way they handled these ports are absolutely unordinary, coming out of left field…
lol downloading a game from 2007 is not weird at all. In fact my copies of COD 4 and MW2 are still on my steam account from back then. been using steam since 2005.
As are mine and I still play regularly. Steam was around then. The part I said was weird was downloading them from the modern Windows Store not made for them
cod started going downhill in 2015
Ghosts was the last real CoD 🎉
@Jordabrz ghost campaign was a master piece I usually love the cod campaigns but bo3 ruined it for me I'm usually a single player guy when it comes to cod
@BirdsTheWerd didn't play the campaign but back in 2014-2015 I played ghosts multi-player & had a feeling it would be the last CoD that had the true cod4-bo2 feel, I was right ✅️ 😢 bo3 was good but everything since has been a joke
@@Jordabrz infinite warfare campaign is also really good
And the zombies mode is fun with friends
@@Jordabrz I don't play the pvp modes like with mw2/3 I played spec ops ghost I played extinction
Call of duty 3 never released on pc that’s why it’s not there in the Microsoft store
Sure but doesn’t explain the others inbetween the ones that are lol
@ for WAW I don’t know why but maybe just maybe it has to do with running out of steam keys or something again I’m not an expert at computer talk I just own the dvds on ps3
basically when steam released 1.8 to combat the on going RC issue they bricked cod4 making every server not playable... thats why you downgrade.
MW2 works fine and is thriving with IW4X
@lostsaves it was broken for years. Aiming was tied to ping and all the servers had terrible ping. I actually just downloaded it and played for an hour and it worked. Mine didn't connect to Xbox like yours though
There’s still a small community in cod4. The bots are the ones with zero ping. It’s usually half bots half real players. But there’s servers that fill up every day during certain hours.
IW4x has had MW2’s issues fixed for years and years
I think they’re cooking something here.. but not sure.
no body likes the microsoft store lmao, but yeah all these games just work on windows 10/11 i have zero issues running the games,
also it shouldnt surprise anyone i been telling people microsoft owning activision is a bad thing microsoft always shut down studios,
original disc version of the pc version was on a dvd
Every platform including sony shuts down studios
COD 4 (2007, no remastered) 26gb? WTF? The OG game in PS3 is barely 6gb, what just happened over there?
>windows store
>reddit in background
yea ok no thanks
Oh no, I looked up a game fix for a bug I was having in another game how horrible
@@lostsavesstill could’ve not used reddit is what op is saying
It’s not my favorite place, but I’m not the idiot who decided the world’s questions and answers should be hosted on a single point of failure and the diverse forums/fan sites should all eventually be shut down. Sometimes the thing you find only shows up in search results via a Reddit page.
I could have also not used windows, but for this video it was required to cover these
@@redalertsteve_oh my god shut up who cares what he had un backround
Cod4 was missing the skill based matchmaking where you hit marker someone 5 times with an m16
It’s because of language packs actually
OH MY GOD if they brought wolfenstein 2009 on steam and/or microsoft store i would go insane with happiness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
holy sheet just get to the point? so how they kill it? because its glitchy and takes 26 gigs?
I mean… I’m trying to be funny here. This is a video.
I don't have those games in MS Store. EU Region, what is going on?
The servers are completely empty on the first day of a completely unannounced release? I wonder why?
The problem being there’s 15 years’ worth of servers there should be no reason to cut off contact from in the first place. Microsoft keeps doing this with Windows Store releases and the games never get off the ground as a result
@@lostsaves If Microsoft has made dedicated servers for these games and they are separated from Steam it is a good thing. People haven’t played a lot of these old CoDs on PC because they were not safe to play on Steam.
The size is explained by them adding sbmm and sbd to the code to keep all the noobs safe from us demons
Lol
Steam is the best place as CoD 2 has always worked no extra download needed only issue I had is it stopped launching, all I had to do was turn my mic on then it launches and it doesn't even need to be active when in game the mic just needs to be plugged in (Kinda wish CS would only launch if you have a working microphone connected), Either way I can usually find a server on CoD 2 if I'm playing at a regular time same with WaW I did have to download something for CoD 4 but it has servers active 24/7 from what I can see plus you can find an empty bot lobby grind the M14 and G3 to red tiger lmao. Wrote this before the full video so glad I know about IW6x always enjoyed hopping on MW2 even tho I wasn't the biggest fan when it first came out now I wish they could shit out half the quality of that game that stopped being updated pretty quickly since the Devs and Activision had their dispute
So didnt test the local multiplayer mode with a other computer
I mean… I’d have no reason to assume they magically broke the LAN modes and how many people are hoping to do CoD1/2/4 LANs in 2024 that don’t already have the games?
Simple answer is that they are gonna put these games on game pass eventually probably just trying out some things atm
Name onething microsoft doesnt screw up.
Xbox hardware/performance. Everything else is bad.
Only difference is its all built in x64 instead of x86.
they just uncompressed everything
That would be silly
@@lostsaves just a little bit of tomfoolery
i see they removed the valve anti cheat on the steam version of the game. maybe they plan to upgrade the games to use the xbox network backend on the steam version as well, just guessing and have to log to microsoft account just like the other microsoft games as halo and forza
Microsoft (Xbox) sucks, so I'm not surprised by these lazy ports. Also, the Microsoft Store is one of the worst stores I've ever used. AUR / Pacman is much more advanced (even as community software without enough funding to thrive) and I'm not exaggerating.
Is it there a way to explore the game files and see why those games are so inflated?
Because Steam are superior, also my eyes hurt thank you
You should probably blink more often
glitch thing made me get off youtube for the day mygod
Sounds like it improved your day!
you need updates for cod 1 and 2 both still have servers running with people playing or at least on the weekends
I think they are not ready to go live
They had to update the game so it would play on a modern computer as high fps on these games breaks them
That’s not true at all. First, they’re not updated. These are the vanilla launch versions of the games. Secondly, both CoD4 and MW2 could be run upwards of 250FPS without issue. MW3 originally had a hard cap of 90FPS but community mods unlocked that years and years ago.
Regardless these are not updated and include no such fixes.
bro never locked his fps to 125 or 333 for bounces and it shows
i wish they gave u a version if u owned it on xb
Fire vid
no hate but due to these glitch fx and its sounds, it was so stressful to watch this video.. half of these fx would have been enough, but I enjoyed the video though
Thumbs up :)
Thank Christ someone else said it
they are ruining old cods because the new ones suck
It's time for it to go ngl
Cod was dead long before Microsoft bought it
The second you launched mw2 on steam and played on those servers you ratted your pc. Congrats
That’s not really how that works
Call of duty 2 is not 10 GB
I had fun watching this
ppl don't appreciate the watch dogs 2 effect 🤣
Sorry but I play the h2m client
*microsoft
This game deserves to die, so i am happy :D
Wait for when they release on Game Pass, you premature.
People want games, companies want profit…
Just buy it from other sources or straight up pirate it if you’re that salty…
>Spends video comparing to existing copies where the community has spent the past 15 years keeping the games alive
"haters will hate"
Boy, game brand loyalty really rots the brain, huh?
@@lostsaves Yeah well buy those existing “alive” copies of CoD and play if you really hate Xbox that much. That’s what I wrote on the last line.
@@FelinePlays "If you hate Xbox that much"
Who said anything about hating? And what salt are you referring to in the original comment? It seems you're the one with the big feelings, not me. I investigated a weird version of the game and made a funny video about it. Why are YOU so upset by me pointing out basic facts about the games?
You okay? Need to go for a walk? Or talk to someone?
Nobody cares about 20 year old games just let it go it doesn’t kill CoD
A lot of people care about these old games, especially since CoD nowdays is just garbage in comparison
“Nobody cares about this thing tons of people keep talking about”
There are still communities for these old games, and for good reason, they are timeless. Every cod now is made to be played until a new one releases, they are made to be sold and only sold, not enjoyed.
Yep
Beyond cringe
it’s the platform company that deletes everyone’s recordings and screenshots
YUP
They only delete you XBL stuff. Not the ones you didn’t upload. Just stop uploading everything you record and screenshot. Be picky
Incorrect. They deleted clips and screenshots from local Xboxes too
@ no they did not.
Do your research. Xbox bought Call of Duty? Oh man...
I’m pretty sure he’s just simplifying things for… some reason I can’t think of yet
Since Activision owns Call of Duty, and now XBOX owns Activision, I think it’s pretty fair to just say it as XBOX simply buying Call of Duty. Especially given that CoD is basically their flagship series at this point.
Yeah very obvious jump that doesn’t take much thinking to understand…
