Just a bit of a disclaimer here: This video is not exclusively about games that came out this year. This community is very diverse and not everyone plays only new games, some of us are still playing stuff from 2010, and we felt it important to highlight some of those titles for a variety of reasons. (Games not feeling the same, rising costs, not having enough time to play new stuff, nostalgia, etc.) As Addie states in the intro: these are community picks for our favorite *games we played* in *2024*. Meaning it did not need to release in 2024. The intent here is to maybe give you, the viewer, some ideas or put games on your radar that you either entirely missed or forgot about. Games that maybe have gotten significant updates since you stopped playing it. Hope that clears things up a little! With all that said, thanks for watching and thanks for supporting Lost_Saves. ##### EDIT ##### Always a blast coordinating this video every year. Seeing what has kept everyone busy for the past year, maybe seeing some games that I should be playing well into the next. Thanks to all that participated this year and Happy New Year!
That's kind of the point of our take on GOTY. Very often we all get caught up in the unrelenting release schedule, there's never enough time to play everything. And most of the time folks end up mainlining one singular game for many years. While it is disappointing to not have recommendations from ONLY this past year we feel that there are more than enough videos out there from other creators that focus on that. This is meant to highlight games, no matter the release date, that are still occupying folks time. In past videos we had a cold open that explained the concept, maybe we can pin a comment on this one just so folks get why games from almost 10 years ago (or more) are appearing on a "GOTY" list. Thanks for watching!
I’m just a little confused as to why a seven year old game (Beat Saber) is being recommended on a 2024 GOTY list Minecraft was the next recommendation after posting my comment… You guys seem great but you should maybe change the name of the video lol

Love the 2006 iMac with Snow Leopard in the background!

Disappointed that this wasn't limited to years released this past year. I've already played half of these...
That's kind of the point of our take on GOTY.

It’s our favorite games of the year. I explained it in the beginning very clearly. This is how we do it every year.

Minecrafts was based on a modpack which released this year. Which is what was pointed out in the video itself :/
