I miss BF3 so much, it and Skyrim were the games i built my first PC for, still have both physical copies on my shelf because I didn't understand digital storefronts yet lol. What I REALLY miss is how almost everyone sucked in BF3 so it was way more casual. Hard to find that nowadays.
We already have a DNS replacement for the official servers in the works to keep the PS3 version online (and playable via RPCS3 netplay). Only downside to the console version from the PC version, is BF3 on PS3/X360 is limited to 32-player (16v16) vs BF3 on PC being traditional 64-player (32v32)
Around 2012, I played a battlefield game for the first time. It was battlefield 3, and it was on my friend's PC. I quite enjoyed it, but then I came back to my notebook wanting to play it, but the graphics card wasn't up to par. Many years later I played the beta version of battlefield 2042. It was fun, but not the same. I'd like to check battlefield 3 (or maybe 4, they're not that much different anymore are they?), but I guess that can't be done now. With that said I've recently picked up Titanfall 2, which I quite enjoy, since it's basically a movement-based battlefield. I just wish it won't get the same treatment as battlefield when it comes to multiplayer servers.
I also somehow love the UI design so much in Battlefield 3. Colorful but done right. Battlefield 4 was so grey and boring Battlefield 2042 UI feels off to me. The bright turquoise colors look cheap and don’t fit well.
I’m mourning the death of BC2 on all platforms, which hurts worse tbh Had so many good memories in that game and completely missed the window to get a community game night going before it shut down
This game was amazing, I would hop on BF3 when I was bored of Bo2 and MW3 at the time, I wish I got to play it more, but the times I had on it were amazing. Me and 2 other mates used to always run around with shotguns on Metro, Snipe distances on Op Firestorm, just geat times. Nowadays i'm on PC but even BF3 on PC is unplayable for me, being in Australia I can't play it at all really, I get auto kicked from overseas servers cause of 270 - 400 ping, actual sucks. I miss this game, Xbox BF3 was the only way for me to actually play this game properly until now since you wouldn't get kicked for high ping on console. Just wish EA ported BF3 to Xbox One natively, RIP.
I'm happy to say I played this till the very end. I've tried the others and just never felt as quality overall as BF3. It was nice seeing your gameplay and others that I used to play with in the video. I salute you all, thanks for the great times xxsurfguruxx out!
I haven't played multiplayer games but Xbox360 ports were generally so easy to run on a PC! Even if the PC was horribly obsolete. OK i haven't made a great experience with Pentium 4, but when i sidegraded to Athlon XP 3000+ for the lot of 10€, this was a massive improvement. My card at the time was a ... 8600gt or something like that? that i got for free; Mirror's Edge, Batman games, eaaasy! Xbox360s falling offline sounds most likely like OOM (out of memory crash) issue - once enough players fell off, the rest wouldn't be under so much memory pressure and could continue without too much fear. The issue should also be present in emulation.
I always had friends who would drop while we played because of it, it was a very common thing in every Metro lobby I was in. It's a out of memory error that would show up - can still happen and crash the emulator even on Xbox Series X. Had it happen on stream. Was a big thing when the game was popular.

I know there was a DNS replacement for Medal of Honor 2010 for PS3 with PC cross play but I too wasn't aware of the same thing with legacy BF.
Thankfully they cut the multiplayer maps down to mostly accommodate (armored kill was rough but everything else felt good with 32 players)

3 & 4 aren’t super populated but are still totally playable on PC! Idk, I’ve never not had fun in 2042
