      All the people involved in the OG games are either dead, or retired. This new batch of "Developers" are essentially slave labor. They don't create games they want anymore. They make games the man in the suit sitting in his high rise apartment thinks will sell. The video game industry has really become a cancer, much like the Marvel movies. Devs are underpaid and overworked and oftentimes rushed. So you get a shitty product released way too early and isn't finished for another year and a half. Indi studios are gonna take over AAA studios soon if they keep this business strategy or putting as much out as possible all the time.

    • @gamingbanana7618
      @gamingbanana7618 Год назад +56

      @@jakemensik2842 or we are going to have another video game crash. I think the whole industry needs to take a break and rethink how they make games. I mean, Ubisoft is about to go under if they continue the monetization and crap game releases. Its only a matter of time before all the major AAA studios go under if they don't change how they make their games. People who make creative entertainment have to be invested and passionate about the project. Like you said, most new developers entering these major companies are not too keen on the features and direction these new games take which leads to unpassionate uncreative game making. Halo is dead, Cod is losing players at an alarming rate, battlefield is still trying to figure out how to make a game they have made 24 times, FPS in general is looking pretty bad. Only time will tell how this all plays out...

Cold War had it so the zombies were leaking into a universe for their first time but having to go back to Vanguard that takes place in the same universe and act like zombies were already there just broke the story. I wanted to see more of how the Cold War organizations were going to handle bigger and badder threats with the possibility of old Zombie’s characters coming back but as how they are in the Cold War universe

      Bungie has a track record (way before sunsetting) of making shit decisions and taking a long time (1y+) to course correct. Recently it’s been Sunsetting and the DCV removing purchases, but these are far from the only examples. Long time players have just accepted that Bungie will randomly make huge decisions that will fuck up part of the game, and you need to be okay with that. But not everyone is okay with paying 100$ a year for that type of experience and that’s reasonable. Games model is not for everyone

      Agreed. So glad I'm not the only one and that this sentiment is spreading. I remember complaining about it back in the day on Reddit and some forums and the only response you'd get was a sheep-like "they can't just do the same thing forever bro." I'm not asking them to "stay the same," I'm asking them to not force me to watch a 20+ minute guide just to figure out how to open up 90% of the map.

    • @bryanzavala7841
      @bryanzavala7841 Год назад +4

      @@urphakeandgey6308As much as I hate redditors, im assuming a lot of people say that is because a lot of people with that sentiment tend to want zombies to be Der Riese over and over again. I wouldn't call it "sheep-like" for wanting a game to evolve. Not to say you want the same thing obviously, im assuming you want a good balance of both just being able to survive and also have Easter eggs to cater to both types of players which would be pretty cool. But sometimes im tired of is people always making the same overexaggerated statement "Ermmmm I don't want to watch a 20 hour tutorial to open one door" because it really isn't nearly as bad as people are making it sound. Im assuming this mostly comes from Shadows of Evil because of the process of opening up areas and pack-a-punch. But literally you can open up 90% of the maps pretty much every other BO3 map without a tutorial. You don't need to do the easter eggs in BO3 to enjoy it and survive. The thing about BO3 is you can literally rock most weapons and they will be pretty viable thanks to the double pap AATs. It would be cool if they could find a good balance to please both audiences but I really think the "complexity" is completely overexaggerated. I feel like it doesn't really take that long to learn a map. Sure you may have to use tutorials 5o figure out some, but after a bit, you won't need tutorials because you know exactly what to do. Its like learning to not open one of the stage doors and Kino to make it viable training spot, its something you learn that becomes second nature. Just my two cents

    • @Clarkzer0
      @Clarkzer0 3 месяца назад +1

      @@bryanzavala7841Not opening the door on Kino is something gained with experience, not something necessary to have access to the whole map (something which is needed to gain said experience and have the ability to experiment much easier which led us to strats like not opening the door on Kino).
      You cannot play the entire surface area of something like Die Maschine, naturally explore and experiment as you can with older maps, without inherently knowing that you HAVE TO complete a storyline to get a chance to be playing on the same map as everybody else. It's night and day, and a huge reason many have stopped playing, all other development decisions aside. We didn't start playing this side mode because we could hear Eminem rap, we started playing it to see how high of a round we could get to, all starting from the same starting point with the same weapons with the same % chance at survival even if you didn't give a rats ass about Easter Eggs, lore, etc.

The constant rumors and theory crafting. People saying the fountain in the middle was a turret that you could get to some way (I believe it was a turret but was inaccessible without noclip). Most teams of randoms would make it past the early rounds. Starting in separate areas was from one another was also jarring af. Ontop of that, your only communication was in the form of people with shitty af mics, who were rarely interested in working together, and usually would throw slurs at you and tell you to fuck off while their mom vacuumed the house or their baby cried in the background.

It was interesting to see the developers try new modes to change things up, only to get roasted by the hardcore fan base. yeah, was taken aback when he said transit was bad, for me, its always been my favourite, the amount of replayability it had was immense. Most maps you're in the same place doing the same thing over and over, but in transit, you could always mix it up by changing up your strategy, and the rng deciding what items you got (like the hatch) made it so you didn't just always do the same thing, sometimes you'd go to the top of the diner and get the knuckles and camp up there, sometimes you'd go to the powerplant area just to get the gun there (before going in the cabin). Sometimes you'd just screw around, etc. To this day I've still never beaten transit. And playing with other people makes it way more fun. Awesome map.

While I don't hate on Bo4 and do Enjoy Classified & Dead of the Night passionately. You can tell that every map after Dead of the Night is more and more unstable or broken. BIG W to the small staff at Activision Shanghai for taking over BO4 after Treyarch abandoned it after Ancient Evil and fixed as much as they could before Treyarch pulled them off it to help with Cold War. Also, do you remember the short 6 hrs they brought back the 2 hit system only to revert it back to 3 when folks complain about dying on catwalk in Blood. THANK YOU for adressing Gobble Gums. For years I've said exactly what you said, and I've been met with personal insults and the classic "just don't use them". But what these people don't understand is that "just don't use them" is an insanely weak argument. If we followed that, you could have a "insta win" button in every game, because you "don't HAVE to use it". It doesn't matter if you use Mega Gumballs or not; the fact that they exist makes so many features pointless. In BO1, I did the Shangri-La easter egg where a monkey turns a Max Ammo into a perk every game. It was risky, but getting a 5th or even 6th perk was worth it. In BO3, I did it once and never again. I felt no satisfaction, because the game has a main gameplay feature where you can get it all by the press of a button. So why go through the trouble? Why min-max points anymore when you always have the option to just get everything for free? It doesn't matter if you "choose not to use them" because having them existing at all ruins the entire point of many features.

      I didn't like bo4 but at least I can say there was a lot of passion. That team wanted to create a zombies masterpeice and I think the overthought things a bit in design. Also the reason I strongly dislike cold war. It's more fun, but for the first time it felt like zombs was made to fill a quota (like the multiplayer) instead of really passionate people creating something

    I will forever think and say that die rise is one of the most underrated zombies maps of all time. I LOVED every minute i spent with that map. Same goes for zetsubou, but that one wasn't nearly as negatively met as die rise. Zetsubou is still very underrated though.

      Thematically? The EE ending is great, but other than the Biodome and No Mans Land, the entire map is just washed up boring grey palette, with most of the map being a facility. There are many more maps released after that are thematically and visually better, this is just nostalgia talking.

    Difference is that Zombies was originally a gag that they didn’t expect to do so well. When it did they did more map not for profit but for fun/passion, everything about the original zombies was timeless and still played to this day what absolutely killed it was them getting ambitious and making maps larger and adding way too many additions the BO1/WaW did perfect because of its dark atmosphere it was creepy and uncertain, maps were tight and simplistic.
    Modern zombies the people working on it do not care, they do it for revenue i blame both the people working on it and the people managing them with tight timing, why play a watered down worse easier version of Zombies with too much clutter, not dark/groggy, not tight and just copy and pasted from warzone when you can play the original, the original zombies will never be replicated they play it too safe

    The biggest problem with black ops 3 and later games I feel, is the mystery box variety.
    Every gun is the same. It doesn't matter what you get, you'll never get a grenade launcher, s12, SMR, etc. It never feels like a mystery, because you know exactly what you'll get.

    Cant wait to watch this! I really hope you cover the camping spots/strategy the mode originally had. Hidden Xperia sadly did not cover this and I think it’s something that very few players seem to talk about. Half the fun was finding new strats, new spots, etc….
    I actually have an idea of how to fix camping while also not using stupid invincible bosses. What if you made a map where the ground (in whatever area you are at would over time become infected/cursed to where the players’ sprint would be very slow or some negative effect would happen. You would then have to move to a new spot and could never stay in the same place for longer than 10-15 rounds as the longer you stay there the more the negative effect would grow. This would make the maps fun because no match would be the same. Imagine having game plans with your friends to pick ahead of time which routes, which spots to do 1st and stay at last. To me, that’s how you evolve the formula.

    I know im in the vast minority, but tranzit is my favorite map ever. Everyones criticism of the map is completely valid and true. But i just remember playing nacht having no idea what was happening with no concept of training zombies dying early. Then i played bo1 and all the maps were tight corridors and really hard for me. But i played kino and ascension with my brother and friend who died. Really multi-player was my favorite at that time. Then bo2 came out and i played tranzit. I liked the idea of the bus taking me around the map, i liked the open areas rather than tight hallways. Then i actually started to get good at zombies because of tranzit, and i was able to play the other maps and have fun like i did on tranzit

    Tbh black ops 2 has all the answers that could’ve been expand upon in 1 map alone which is buried. It doubled down on perma perks, wonder weapons that effected gameplay and not just only killing, chalk wall buys, using other forms of progressing the map other than buying doors, the slight overpowered nature of the map but when you slip up you can slip up big, and the small little things to do for a casual player that can be spread by word of mouth.

    My first shot at this gamemode was back in 2011/2012 i think, back then a friend used to have an xbox 360 and we'd play Black Ops just casually, trying to go beyond round 10 (we were quite noobish at the time) and it was just SO FUN being this vulnerable against zombies that could potentially one shot you, it was genuinely a quasi-horror fun experience to have! That's also what made me experience CoD: World at War and its zombie mode, which i feel fits so much the cadence of the story and its ending it blows my mind how perfect it fits everytime i replay the campaign.
    Sadly though, being the transgressive old-gamer type of guy i just can't bring myself back to enjoy the new zombies mode: To me black ops 2 wasn't bad only because of the gameplay mechanics (which were quite annoying i admit, but manageable), but because it set up the sillyness of the story so much so the sequel's artstyle-shifts turned zombies into a totally unreleated thing (agreed, the maps of BO3 and others are pretty cool, but not in the same way as Black Ops's first map is) making you question why the least terrifying thing of a zombie gamemode are... zombies themselves.
    One could argue that it's always been there from the beginning, being a passion project and all, but i feel that without such a thing the new games just become mindless, more akin to the good ads of a bag of chips with a very generously funded ad department.

    This is just a stroll down memory lane. Playing Der Reise for hours on end, split screen with the boys. I didn't really play much of the maps after that other than the tranzit which like you mentioned was awful. By the time the tentacle one out I didn't even know what to do anymore as I stayed further away from the game 🙄
