4-5 minutes into the video, I can tell this guy is knowledgeable, articulates it well without rambling and you can see the b roll that he shows, he knows what he’s talking about. You got a new fan. Cheers from USA.
Thank you very much, I studied audiovisual communication and I couldn't understand what was wrong with my videos with the new Osmo if with my camera that has less quality I had better results, and everything you say is very true. I acquired very bad habits because of how practical it is to have it, but now I know that I should take a step back and think before hitting record.
I was searching for how a Pocket 3 would compare with my larger camera. This is a great video with such practical tips and perfect example footage. Thanks!
I just picked up the pocket 3. Did one test in low light living room, and was hooked. Last weekend I was on set for a film and the cinematographer shot everything on a tripod, because we just didn't have the time for him to set up his gimbal (he'd have to break down his rig etc). If I'd have had this then, we'd have gotten the couple of shots I wanted with camera movement. On a previous set, my gimbal died... so when I saw this on sale the other day, I had to snatch it up. Great video. I have never used one, except for my 1 minute living room test. I'll be using it for a shoot this weekend in a church. Hence the low light test.
Another REALLY PRACTICAL vid about how to get the very best from my current favourite camera - Thanks Hugh ! Kept looking for myself in the background in your footage from Spain. Cheers, Gav
First video of yours ive watched.. Subscribed within the first minute. I dont give out my subscription's willy nilly. You're straight to the point, very relaxed, you're not trying to be funny which makes for very cringy viewing. Just perfect.
Nice video. I expected you to trash the features of the camera, but instead you offered very helpful and professional tips for getting better results. Much appreciated!
Great tips. Fellow creator here. Just bought the op3 today for 399 usd cyber Monday. Great tips. I always love to learn a new shot. It’s always so hard to be on location and remembering to do everything and also be on an adventure somewhere. lol I currently use the osmo action 4 and the insta 360 x4 and occasionally my Sony alpha for b roll. Nice mini rig.
Best video I’ve seen on the DJI pocket 3. I was worried it would be full of endless setting configurations, but easily actionable tips! I got so much from this video and your footage is incredible at driving home each point, thank you 🙏🏻
This is the most well explained Osmo Pocket 3 video I’ve seen to this date. I’ve owned it since release but only used it a handful of times working with bands, it’s just smooth filming those live shots even if it might be a bit to wide. Still, maneuver like a ninja and the gimbal inside is crazy stable. Keep them coming :)
Such a great video! Really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I'm still thinking if I should buy this camera and videos like this really help understand best use cases and what to expect from it. Thank you!
Excellent video! The part where you talk about filming everything just basically means you're having fun with it and you like it a lot. I am definitely going to buy now! Thanks
A good thing about the composition part of your video is that having the subject out of the centre of the frame lets the viewer see where the subject is. You can have action happening in the background, either intentionally or unintentionally.
Thanks a lot, I'd like to sell LUT'S but I'm not sure I know enough about that process yet. I may sell a power grade or something. Will definitely do some vids on the grading.
Great tips, especially regarding composition. It does help that you're in a beautiful place such as Ireland (Low Key Jealous). I don't have an osmo pocket 3, but I'm starting to find taking out my Sony FX3 ($4K camera) for vlogging more and more nerving worried about damaging it. Thanks for the tips, and great video!
Totally agree on the focal length. I do the R5 / Pocket 3 combo but really hope the Pocket 4 has the DJI Air 3 head with two cameras to swap between (24mm and 70mm)
Thank you for the excellent tips. I just bought the pocket 3 and will definitely implement these tips. Thank you... And you have a new subbie from Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦

You should sell the LUT you use to make your Osmo Pocket 3 videos look so nice. I will be buying mine in a few days and I love the way your videos look. I would be the first buyer of your LUT, believe me
A lot of food for thought on this one. I can relate on the excess footage by just hitting record. I was just thinking that last night when I was editing my latest video. Thanks again. 😎
Hi, thanks for the great video. Been trying to search for a monopod setup that's similar to yours, but can't seem to find it. What brand are you using?
@@Natureboy-w1e I started playing around with the settings and I'm getting a much better end result! I also ordered some ND filters and will play around with them once they arrive.

Great tips, not so sure the wide angle accessory adds much for me I think it degrades the image a little. Thank you so much, this is very useful. I scaled back camera wise and run off iPhone 15 pro max and this for some great results.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to succumb to the "quick record and go" bad habit! I've also recorded tons of sub-par footage and trying to be better at planning out my shoots more. That said, my travel style is very much the "unplanned" type so it is quite challenging to plan a shoot without taking the fun out of travelling! My holidays are my holidays and not a way for me to generate income from 🙂
Yeah, it's just the nature of the beast. The main thing is to make sure you edit your content. So many people let footage build up and not do anything with it and that'll kill your spirit. It's following through, getting it out there and seeing people's reaction, that will make or break you. I almost ditched this video half way through because I thought it wasn't good enough but I stuck with it and polished up the edit and it worked. Lesson learned.
Great tips. In auto mode I find the "face" shots are often horrible in terms of exposure AND white balance which never happened with the Pocket 2. You can tell RUclipsrs who've upgraded to the P3 because they often suddenly have orange faces (if they've filmed in auto). I've got it sorted now after lots of fiddling about in manual.
Thanks, yeah, I should have mentioned this. You know when you're grading the footage and you need to constantly trim the clip to re-adjust different segments of it. It gets facial exposure and colour wrong a lot.
Hi! Great video! Thank you! Please tell me, What kind of monopod do you use? How did you attach it to the monopod? So you use a regular monopod upside down? If you made a video of how you attach the OP3 and phone to the monopod, that would be great!

I wouldn't really recommend this camera as you won't use the gimbal element. For this stuff, you'd be better off with a used mirrorless or even a blackmagic cam. You might have to spend a bit more, but it's gonna be a better option.
Hey Hugh. I use the osmo for weddings and I note when I’m using it to pan left and right, final results seem clunky and jittery….what frame rate is best for silky smooth non jittery footage. Same with drop down shots…

Would create DJI a version that has 20-85mm zoom as well as an electronic nd filter? Then I would leave a lot of my equipment behind. Even if it was twice the weight or size
I've been saying this from the start. In 2016 DJI had a version of the X5 you could use on the Osmo handle. 5K raw MFT sensor. They didn't develop that side of things as much as they could have. It's the same with their drones. The fact that there's 3 separate cams on the drone instead of a zoom system seems a bit silly. In years to come the tech will be amazing.
